My policy desires[edit]

Policies at GWW are, for the most part, acceptable. The problem is that they need to be in place and enforced from the get-go. As such, I'd like to copy/mash up some policies from the old wikis.

In short, what this wiki needs is a definition of what is right and acceptable versus what isn't. In cases where a user is borderline, sysops need to take the initiative and warn that user. If that user violates part or all of a policy, that user is to be blocked if it is determined that said user has had a chance to read, or has been referred to, the policy he or she is in violation of.

Trolling is a part of wiki life, yet in no way is it to be encouraged by administration. In cases where trolling becomes disruptive or upsetting, sysops need to step in.

The old wiki worked. It wasn't until people perceived that it didn't work that it began to erode. Responsibility and order need to be key in this wiki, along with more focus on documenting the game.

Among the notable changes in my proposed policies are:

  • the inclusion of harassment provisions along with NPA under user conduct
  • the revision of user space rights
  • slight changes and clarification the role of sysops and bcrats
  • signature formatting

IMO, some of the rules contained in the preceding either allowed for excessive rule bending or, on the contrary, a very strict and controlling atmosphere.

It needs to be clear from the moment a user types in the URL that in order to utilize the resources we (and ANet) provide, they must agree to the terms and the policies whereby we provide them.

User related[edit]

User conduct[edit]

Defines NPA, Harassment, Non-approved content (hate speech, pornography, etc). In a nutshell, this would be an umbrella of the two viable concerns regarding problems, namely harassment and attacks. This would have no provision for profanity, sarcasm, or similar.

User space[edit]

Defines your interaction with your talk page and other's talk page. In short, non-wiki/GW-related discussions may be removed as well as bot-style templates (welcome message, etc) and breaches of User Conduct. All other content is not allowed to be removed, however, it may be archived.

Guild related[edit]

The current GWW policy is acceptable and free from significant dispute.

Editing related[edit]

Signatures[edit]

Signatures should be a unique way to identify you but must also be considerate to other users.

Reversion[edit]

The current One Revert Rule is acceptable.

Administratively related[edit]

System operators[edit]

System operators (SysOps) are responsible for the maintenance of the wiki and the blocking of users who violate it's policies.

Bureaucrats[edit]

Bureaucrats (BCrats) are responsible for user disputes and the oversight of administrative functions.

Arbitration[edit]

The current arbitration policy is acceptable, however decisions need to be made within 1 day.

Elections[edit]

The current election policy is acceptable

Request for sysophood[edit]

The current request for adminship is acceptable, however it needs to be renamed

Game content[edit]

The current Build policy is a very good policy. Attempts at fleshing out specific builds (skills, attributes, etc) should be redirected to PvXWiki.

Keep as-is[edit]

I feel that the following are mature policies and haven't been contested in recent times. As such, they should stand as written
