About Me[edit]

Hey, I'm BioMasterZap, or Bio for short. I had my Guild Wars account since around 2007, but never played much until recently. The reason was that most of the time I played a different MMORPG, RuneScape, which I quit in April 2012 due to a disagreement with an update and the game's focus.

After reading a lot of promising information about GW2, I managed to play a bit in the first GW2 Beta. Since then I have been waiting on the next Beta and eventual release of GW2 since it is the best game I've ever played. But while I waited, I decided to play GW1, initially for the Hall of Monuments but I ended up enjoying it more than expected.

Accounts and Goals[edit]

My main character is an Elementalist, which took me a while to get use to playing. The elementalist has been my focus and I have spent most my time working on that character for HoM achievements as well as learning how to better play it. So far, I managed to finish Prophecies, Faction, Eye of the North, and War in Kyrta. I hope to finish Nightfall and Hearts of the North soon as well. Besides that, I have been working on various titles like my reputation titles, trying out new builds, perfecting hero builds and improving their armors, and playing in the Jade Quarry.

I have looked into addition characters beyond my elementalist. After I finish Nightfall, I plan to work more on my Assassin and Paragon characters. The character lineup is a bit ironic since in GW2 I am most interested in an Elementalist, Thief, and Guardian as my main 3.

GW2 Comments[edit]

So far, Guild Wars 2 is the most perfect game I've ever played. The lack of quest almost discouraged me since I like quests but I also hated them when they lacked plot. I found the personal story to give a great ammount of plot to the game while offering more variants then I can believe. The renown hearts remind me of the task system in RuneScape, but easier to complete. I love how the game is more about exploring the world and helping it's inhabitance with most of the needed things coming with levels (skills and traits). I am a bit worried that the events may get a bit old after a while, but there is still a lot of room to addition (more in events in current areas as well as new areas).

At first, I wanted to work on a Thief, but I was hoping for a bit more stealth and shadow stepping then present. After looking more into my GW1 Elementalist, I became far more interested in the GW2 elementalist. The ability to change between the 4 attunements in combat gives the GW2 elementalist a huge amount of utility. Also, without energy and cast times, I feel that my annoyances with the GW1 elementalist were resolved. However, the trait for the elementalist didn't click as well as the other professions since, for me at least, elementalist are more of all around and lack a focus. In the end I decided that this would be an advantage for my first GW2 character.

So far, I have played a Thief, Elementalist, Warrior, and Necromancer in Beta tests, but I have reviewed the skills and traits for all the professions. I feel that in the early game, the necromancer was lacking since it has few minion based skills, which are what I find the best part of the necromancer. While the later game skills do allow many more minions, I still feel that at least one necromancer weapon should have a minion weapon skill. The warrior was very tough for his level and the thief was pretty cool once he got two pistols. From what I read, I am not a fan of the engineer since it just seems confusing and not too useful. However, I can't wait to try a Guardian, which seems a bit more fun than a warrior due to passive virtues. I also want to try a mesmer which looks very intresting. In some ways I feel the illusions a mesmer makes are more minion like that a necromancer, even if short lived.

In the next beta I plan to test the last four professions while try many of the other features.
