What? 1106 energy? :s Prince Grazel 10:51, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

I suspect it scales up as one progresses. ShadowRunner 10:56, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
The character in the video has 6,019e, so 1,106e would be about 18.5%. I'm assuming it scales, as well. --KOKUOU 11:06, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
whats with the insane recharge time? That is something I DON'T like right there. I don't want the battles to go slower I want them to be the same speed they are in Guild Wars 1....--Yozuk 21:59, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
Though the recharge time is quite large at 12min, do we know how long this plague lasts on yourself? Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 23:43, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
@venom Pretty long, I'd guess 30s from memory, and you're unable to get out of the plague cloud form while you're in it. --91.19.105.64 09:21, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Plague is an elite skill. They said that they want elite skills to be less central and be used occasionally and when they are used, they are "epic." Essentially, instead of spamming Life Sheath, SF or virtually anyother elite, you used this spell in an important battle, and it might make a huge impact...Aquadrizzt (talk)(contribs) 23:57, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

It might make a huge impact in battle, but once you use it you will pertty much lose a skill slot for almost a quarter of an hour. I dont exactly like the sound of that. 85.114.54.166 15:27, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks Aquadrizzt, I had forgotten that they were changing the way elites impacted the game. That makes more sense now. Yes, the recharge time ensures that you only use it when you need to drastically change the tide of a battle. I like the idea of not spamming things. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 16:00, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
While Anet hit the nail on the head with their idea for the elites, extremely powerful yet not used frequently, the revealed elites are probably the only thing I don't like about the game. Other things were questionable, i.e. potions and removal of e-management, but this can't be misinterpreted by simply not knowing how it works in the game. You simply insta-kill a mob or weaken a boss, then your skill bar is reduced by 1 for the next 10 fights. I like the idea they had in mind, but would prefer for the damage/duration to be reduced and then the recharge being 5 or 6 minutes tops. Ptarmigan 16:22, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
Don't forget, the areas are now instanced. You are able to switch your skills around while not in combat. So if you're waiting on your 12 minute recharge, switch to something else for the next fight.Sox11 17:35, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
I don't think it will be like that Sox. That would mean you could just switch to a different elite between every mob. Maybe the elite skill slot will be disabled instead of the skill itself to avoid abuse of that. ~ Bow User Bow Sig.png | 20:15, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
The elite skill is only supposed to be a real game changer that's why its recharge is 12 minutes. And I believe changing weapons will only affect the first 5 skills not your elite.--Emmisary 20:21, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
Here's a new idea. What if elites transformed, much like minion skills, whenever they are used and become a much weaker version of that skill. Of course it doesn't have to have the same effect, but a similar one. This wouldn't remove a skill from your skill bar, simply give you an uber one every couple minutes while you blast away with the weaker one while the other is cooling down. I doubt this will be included in the game, but it's a thought I wanted to share. Ptarmigan 01:04, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
I most likely will rarely use this elite if not ever. Come on Fleshy, We have some work to do. Btw, I'm sure that Flesh Golem will come back in Guild Wars 2 as an Elite.--Yozuk 05:02, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
Perhaps a modified mechanic from Guild Wars 1 will help with this. If you recieved a morale boost your skills recharged. I don't think we have morale in GW2 but the most common method for a morale boost is dropping a boss. Perhaps if you defeat a boss the skill recharges? Just an idea. Not so much a suggestion than what I am hoping for.

Appearance[edit]

anyone know what this looks like when you use it? Or know where to find a video I can go screencap? -173.116.103.143 06:20, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

IIRC, a floating skull with smoke flowing downwards. Actually looks quite nice. --91.19.123.135 17:39, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

"multiple" conditions?[edit]

Anyone know what they are? I'm gonna guess poison and weakness for sure, probably bleeding, but it has to be more than that, or this skill would be sux... Can someone confirm them? 91.124.35.71 15:06, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Nope, nobody knows what they are. Shadowed Ritualist 15:07, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Please post[edit]

A video showing this skill in action (unsigned me)

way to demand. anyways http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVz25cLVU9Q Previously Unsigned 00:19, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
That looked weird o.O - Thanks alot tho (unsigned me)

News[edit]

I used this skill in the demo at the PGW. It also deals damage every second. --Qral 15:10, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

That's what conditions do now. -- ķ̌yǾshĺ User Kyoshi sig.png 15:41, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
In fact it's pretty awesome to play with. Too powerful : I killed branded groups in 4-5 secs. --Qral 20:05, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
I like the sounds of the new elites being devastating. Makes me feel that much better about the new non-spamming elites. I would rather it be this way anyways, but it's still good to hear about their awesome powers. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 20:41, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
@Qral: You know the demo would obviously be easier than the game when it comes out, right? They don't want to overwhelm people and scare them off from the game. -- ķ̌yǾshĺ User Kyoshi sig.png 03:24, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
I know, but elites are still far more powerful than standard skills. --Qral 12:32, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
That's kinda why they're called Elites. P: --Balthazad 14:35, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
Well-timed, elites are supposed to be game changers. That's what they said. Adventuring in standard PvE with enemies just standing around, I think it might be more accurately described as "God Mode for 30 seconds," but it's still hard to say yet. -- ķ̌yǾshĺ User Kyoshi sig.png 15:35, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
Hmm, be a giant plague, or a tornado? Tough choice. EiveTalk 16:15, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
Plague, hands down. Then again, I'm always biased for necromancers. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 16:22, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
I am too, and never was an Ele fan. (My first char was an Ele, whom I deleted in about 3 days and played nothing but a PvP Necro for several months) But still, a damn tornado... EiveTalk 16:29, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) from looking at the tornado in the videos, it sounds cool, but looks lame. I think it should be able to move slightly faster, and maybe have other weather effects hit nearby foes (with decreased damage than the vortex). Perhaps it could be accompanied by lightning or something. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 16:35, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Also, an ele was my first character as well, played about 1/3 of prophecies with him, then changed to my necro and never looked back. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 16:36, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
That's funny. Ele was my main and in all these years I've never managed to get my necro to even level 20, hehe. So, my vote is still the tornado. ;) That said, the GW2 necro has me much more intrigued than the GW1 ever did. Plague looks amazing. Ruse talk (talk) 21:41, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

I think that plague is better than tornado as it doesnt knock back the enemies. Plague lets you spread major conditions to a mob and make them far easier to kill as conditions stack in guild wars 2. All the tornado videos ive seen the eles only manage to hit the entire mob once then they chase around individual enemies from that mob and kill them. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:173.55.48.60 (talk).

Plague skills[edit]

Might be worthy to add that the plague skills go into a 1 sec recharge (I believe) whenever you use one. See link [1] Luvie 12:45, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

"I believe" is why it's not going into the mainspace.
The video looks like 1 second recharge. The pages for the individual plague skills claim 0 seconds.
We really don't need to document what even ArenaNet don't yet know. Can we please wait until release day? User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.png A F K When Needed 17:38, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

Updated Skills[edit]

Found updated plague skills in an engineer video on youtube via 'elixir x' http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=uPHuaza6sfY#t=180s. Crucis 00:13, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Withering and bleeding[edit]

Does that strike anyone as odd? You'd figure Withering Plague would cause weakness, and perhaps Plague of Pestilence would cause bleeding alongside cripple. Mediggo 10:54, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

life steal[edit]

anyone notice when you setup to life steal with wells this steals a little bit to.... Sumta 17:42, 24 April 2013 (UTC) yup i get a cookie, it's vampic trait Sumta 17:42, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

Unbind discussion[edit]

Anyone with more skill than me, is it possible to split the discussion of Plague from Plagueland? they are two very distinct skills, albeit they share the same icon. 98.144.40.56 17:41, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Whoops, I forgot I moved the talk page back as well. The talk page of Plaguelands should no longer redirect to this talk page. —Nefastu 17:43, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Elixir X[edit]

This skill is still available via the engineer elite Elixir X. Seems like this page and the pages for the three plague skills should be made to reflect this as it's not actually content "that has been removed or replaced." The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ideka (talkcontribs).

Thanks for the heads up, but this article is about the equippable skill, whereas Elixir X uses the corresponding effect, Plague (effect). This is already documented appropriately, but I've added a note to the otheruses at the top of this page to help avoid confusion. --Idris (talk) 15:45, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
