Hints for Germinate <x>[edit]

The ones in the collection table are different from the ones which were included in the item's page. Dunno which ones are right. eg. "Hint: Plant carrot seeds in your hidden garden in Mount Maelstrom. Carrot seeds can be found while harvesting carrots." vs. the truncated "Hint: Plant carrot seeds in your hidden garden in Mount Maelstrom." Seylan (talk) 07:32, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

I have a feeling the truncated ones are the correct ones, however I cannot confirm this. Hekela (talk) 08:15, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

The in-game tooltip is the long version.

Collecting seeds[edit]

Is it possible to collect more than one type of seed in your inventory? Or does one need to take each seed-type immediately to the Hidden Garden and plant it there before another type of seed can be collected?

I noticed that several seed-types might be found in the SE quarter of Blazeridge Steppes. I got cabbage seeds in the NE corner of Heretic Plain and took them to start my garden right away. Returning to Blazeridge, I found carrot seeds quickly from the first Carrot Node I came across. However, when I collected Chili Peppers from a Young Herbs Node and twice collected Zucchini there were no seeds accompanying the vegetables.

It would be handy if several items could be collected between the 15 minute waits for a Keeper to spawn but perhaps this is supposed to feel like drudgery? If it is a "one seed per trip" thing I suppose the same holds true for fertilizing and watering as well? --Gold Recluse (talk) 12:11, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

Do note that the drops themselves aren't 100% i.e. guaranteed, so it's possible you just had an unlucky strike. I do believe that you can collect all of the seeds without having to go back to the farm every time. —Ventriloquist 12:20, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
I guess I got spoiled by the previous egg hunt - I got each item the first time I tapped for it. --Gold Recluse (talk) 00:10, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

I collected some things before I went into the Hidden Garden, and then left the character there. Since then, I've been collecting remaining items and putting them in bank, so the short answer is you can collect everything beforehand and then just finish up at one fell swoop.--Algonda (talk) 23:31, 2 November 2018 (UTC)

Was able to receive Butternut Squash Seeds + Pumpkin Seeds from the Sugar Pumpkin nodes in Risewild Hills zone in Bloodtide Coast --Rstancuna (talk) 12:46, 06 November 2022 (UTC)

Hints[edit]

A) The Keeper of the Winds bequeaths the portal which takes you closest to the Hidden Garden. Earth's portal is just beyond that distance. However, if anyone in the map calls out a Keeper's location, go there. Any portal is faster than waiting for a Keeper to spawn.

I was mistaken in this. After taking the "Winds" portal a second time I came out in a different location. It seems there is no connection between portal locations other than getting you somewhere into the Garden. --Gold Recluse (talk) 22:41, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

B) Save "Keeper Hunting " time by using a 'spare' character. Any character that is stationed in the Hidden Garden can port to the PvP and/or WvW lobbies. When they return to the PvE world they will be right back in the Garden. So after your chosen 'gardener' has some seeds, etc. and gets into the garden, use other characters to do the collecting. The collector(s) can put their finds into your Bank at PvP/WvW and then the 'gardener' can zip over to pick up and port back for garden tending. --Gold Recluse (talk) 08:18, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

C) Any character on your account is likely to collect seeds or fertilizers if they are tapping a node or creature related to a collection item.

D) I got Ghost Pepper Seeds from a node in my Home Instance. Not confirmed yet, but Guild Hall nodes may also be productive. --Gold Recluse (talk) 00:10, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

E) The "Watering" collections may be the easiest steps. Each bucket from Milton Book is good for only one "Water." You can carry more than one bucket in your inventory at a time. After collecting one of the seed-types I got a bucket for the "Cluster of Waves" in the Garden. Saved one "Keeper" event. --Gold Recluse (talk) 23:09, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

F) "Compost" was the last but I needed. After grinding Auric Basin Grand Chests for a week to get Heirloom Seed Pouches I finally got Compost from a Noxious Seed Pouch that dropped in WvW !!!! I think that is not supposed to happen as per wiki notes but no complaints here! Do your Wv Dailies! --Gold Recluse (talk) 09:04, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
