Leave a note that players have to kill jungle trolls around where the troll spawns to trigger event spawn. A friend and I were doing the Priory camp vent and the pirate one repeatedly with no luck getting the troll to spawn until my friend just randomly started killing trolls in the near by cave (where it spawns) in frustration.
