Talk:Bow

Technically bows are one handed and you use your other hand for loading arrows, but I guess they did this for simplicity :-) --IzzyZen 06:05, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Well, if they would have made it 'one handed', this might imply that you can smack with it. (And wield a torch, that you can shoot afterwards?) Which is probably not the intention of what it is created for. Ge4ce 06:16, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Yeah or they could have it so when you start to fire you drop the torch, but holstering your bow would also work :). It would be pretty kewl if they made arrows as the offhand though, with different types of upgradeable arrows. --IzzyZen 07:51, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
That would definitely be interesting. So, we either will be seeing skills like poison arrow, glass arrow or barbed arrow for rangers to return, see just ordinary skills who are affected by wall of fire for example, or we'll see these different arrows you're mentioning. In all the ways, it'll be difficult to guess the outcomes of these arrows through skills or the types of arrows used. (if they use this arrow-type system). Time will tell! Archery says hi. A bow is a two-handed weapon in the fact that you cannot shoot with it unless you use both hands (or hand&foot or even just your feet). Swinging a bow with one hand as some kind of close combat weapon will result in weak swings, not very viable as means of battle. - Infinite - talk 12:23, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Good point, I never thought of it like that. Although if spiked bows make a return, it's nothing I would want to get hit in the face with haha. --IzzyZen 19:45, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Arrows[edit]

All the videos and articles so far are totally jaw-dropping, except for one thing... The rangers still shoot invisible arrows drawn out of thin air. :/ I was really disappointed to see that - was hoping for a quiver this time around, maybe as part of the armor design that only shows up if you equip a bow, and would be dyeable as one of the armor elements. I saw a pistol holster on the human ranger armor in one of the demo videos, which dyed along with the rest of the leather trimming, and a matching quiver for the bow would be awesome. I really don't think that's out of the realm of possibility, and wonder why they went with invisible quivers again. :/ User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 19:19, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

However, at least there are bow strings. Though the lack of quivers is... odd. There's always a chance they will get added later, though? ShadowRunner 19:22, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
I doubt you saw a pistol holster on ranger armor, as rangers can't use pistols. -- ķ̌ɎǾshĺ User Kyoshi sig.png 22:05, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Who said it was functional? http://www.youtube.com/watch?annotation_id=annotation_23562&v=UJ-uwOujOMU&feature=iv What is that? User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 23:02, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Ok, so I was tired when I watched it, but whatever that is, it might as well have been a holster. Doesn't really affect what I said above, as a quiver can be modeled in the same fashion. I guess I'm not using bows, unless my hairdo can be made big enough to hide arrows in it. Heck, if WoW has a quiver on toggle for when you equip a bow (however crappy it looks), ANet has no excuse. :( User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 23:08, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
I would prefer a good looking non-quiver using Ranger over something with WoW's terrible graphics. EiveTalk 23:51, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Why do people always go to polar opposites? I'll go with a good looking quiver, ty. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 00:01, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
I can't tell what it is in that video, really. It looks like it might be a holster, but it's an awkward shape for it. I think.
But anyway, it's a tangent. I also hope for quivers. (Could have sworn I saw one in an earlier video.) -- ķ̌ɎǾshĺ User Kyoshi sig.png 02:51, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
No, that would not even make a remotely good holster. I would know. I believe it was said in some article why there are quiver animations without quivers, but I haven't the slightest clue as to where. –~=Ϛρѧякγ AHHH! (τѧιк) ←♥– 03:41, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
Do you remember what it said? User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 17:51, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

http://www.guildwars2guru.com/forum/ranger-quiversi-yay-nayi-t7609.html This thread is all I found so far; reading through it now. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 18:17, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Ok, I feel better now. They definitely have an animation for reaching back over your shoulder and pluck something, so it's likely that the quiver renders were not included in the demo, but will appear later. In GW1, there is no "reach" animation, you just pull the invisible string over and over (basically conjuring arrows at your fingertips), so there was a reason they changed it to reaching over the shoulder. Yay! User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 19:02, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Which bows have glowing/luminous bowstrings?[edit]

Apart from Kudzu and the Abaddon shortbow & longbow, what other bows have special bowstrings? --175.140.218.124 16:01, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
