So this was supposed to be the Shade of Ishan image used specifically for the Shade of Ishan page. As opposed to the generic Void Saltspray Dragon image that is used for the Champion Void Saltspray Dragon page. Someone changed the name of this page. It is not a duplicate as it currently suggest. It's the same model, and so per the Shared Model Project, only one image should be used, and the Void Saltspray Dragon one is of better quality. Sunlion (talk) 11:45, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
Imo all the current images are pretty bad, but it's a really difficult model to take a screenshot of (tall plus moves a lot). -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 12:11, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
It may have the same model, but it has a different name. Because its a character verses an enemy type. The preceding unsigned comment was added by OtakuModeEngage (talk) at 19:16, 7 May 2022 (UTC).
The name is documented in the infobox/article, though. ~Sime 20:00, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
Should we consider this discussion concluded or are there further objections? Sunlion (talk) 22:09, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
I don't think we should use the generic picture for a named character, BECAUSE they share the same base model. The name is the only distinguishing feature that tells you this is Ishan as opposed to just any other Void Saltspray, and that's why the picture that has the name should be used for his profile. (Reset indent) It is the wiki standard, though. If the models are the same, then it's just simpler and easier on us to merge the images. It takes less maintenance and is easier to improve. Sunlion (talk) 23:50, 8 May 2022 (UTC)

Im getting a strong 'this is the way its always been done, so this is the way it should always be' vibe from you. I don't agree with that. I think things can be changed and improved, and the present way isnt always the only way, much less always the best way. It isn't the way this was always been done, and the reason I'm being very stubborn, admittedly, is because I've seen just how painful the other method is. Things can always be improved, but to be brutally honest: this image isn't really up to standards. It'd have to be improved anyway, and all that would take is more effort for honestly no significant bonus in documentation, and it'd be much harder to get a clear screen of Ishan anyway. I mean, fair enough... I took dozens of pictures of him and uploaded the best after a little editing. Even still, it wasn't very good because he kept moving, and all the combat effects further blurred things up. Although I still disagree, I realize I stand alone in this opinion, so I'll cede to this point. The preceding unsigned comment was added by OtakuModeEngage (talk) at 03:10, 8 May 2022‎ (UTC).
Thank you for challenging me about this, by the way. It helps to have disagreement so we can think about our reasoning for these points. After all, if we only do something just because it's what everyone else does, it's not exactly very logical, and it doesn't help the wiki grow. Sunlion (talk) 03:32, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
Part of this stems from the original GW1W where we had the tools to extract the models and render them in the way-back-then-equivalent of blender. 3d models are really great for this kind of creature which is a nightmare to screenshot due to constant movement. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 15:29, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
I'll clarify something: the reason it's the wiki standard is because...it's an ArenaNet standard, they reuse NPC models constantly. I asked a very nice ArenaNet staffer who didn't mind answer questions while playing the game a few years ago when I started the Shared Wiki Project to verify this. It's actually more rare that a model isn't used(primarily main story characters like Rox, Logan, etc), so it wouldn't be the first time(won't be the last) a "named character" has shared an image either, for example: File:Marcello DiGiacomo.jpg. One additional note, if you could sign your comments with ~~~, I'd appreciate it. Cheers! - Doodleplex 21:49, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
