Looks like either a paladin or female warrior, the former would be epic. --User Phnzdvn sig.png Phnzdvn 02:08, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

That and the mace is Remarkably identicle to a WoW Mace,Not starting a flame war,im just saying--Neil2250 , The Zoologist User Neil2250 sig icon5.png 16:20, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
It also looks exactly like a generic mace. I'm fairly certain there is no copyright on a weapon. Celle
New Profession, iam expecting wed--Knighthonor 23:04, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
I think it's a cleric type, bit like the paragon but more protection/buffing. Reaper of Scythes** User Reaper of ScythesJuggernaut1.png 18:34, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
/Cough cough/ Remember, its concept art.--Neil2250 User Neil2250 sig icon5.png 18:35, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
True, concept art. But still fun to look at and it's enough to get a general idea of what might be in the game.
Her headress looks somewhat Dwayna-like to me. Maybe it is a cleric-like type. --Spigs 03:06, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
It's a tank! Maybe a combo of Warrior and Para, something like a Paladin. --81.157.186.26 16:20, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Or maybe...it is a Healing class? Judging by the blue background it may be. --81.157.186.26 16:21, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
As the other profession images are color-coded to match their colors in GW1, I'd say this is the Monk's replacement.--Warzog Watch your six! 23:58, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

same profession? ,,"Klumpeet",, 19:34, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

I just assume that's a warrior. It's carrying weapons that we know can be wielded by warriors, also. I'm gonna guess that the blue and orange auras are shout or other support visuals (assuming shouts are given by the warhorn). -~=Ϛρѧякγ User Sparky, the Tainted guided sig.png (τѧιк) 19:39, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
just found this too... dunno if the image caption can be seen as a reliable source, though. ,,"Klumpeet",, 20:32, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
Not with their captions it isn't. And that armor looks the same to me as the armor the warriors have been running around in. But with a helmet.--Corsair@Yarrr 21:27, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, their captions are kinda... anyways, both soldiers wear the same armor, so armor can't be used as an identifier. -~=Ϛρѧякγ User Sparky, the Tainted guided sig.png (τѧιк) 21:50, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
You can bet that as a preview, they will give each profession a type of armor that says, this is who I am. When they release the next soldier, you can bet its not going to be wearing the same armor.--Corsair@Yarrr 22:05, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, but I highly doubt they will be releasing or showing the second soldier any time soon (especially since they just released one of only two soldiers). My bets are that the next profession is going to be an adventurer
Can this be anything other than an assassin? Lol.
. -~=Ϛρѧякγ User Sparky, the Tainted guided sig.png (τѧιк) 22:16, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
Sin or some other adventurer, can't be too specific, in all the groups Adventurer seems to hold the most mysteries, and the most possibilities.--Corsair@Yarrr 22:21, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
TBH we already knew
Seeing as they have released core professions first, ranger might be more likely to come next. ,,"Klumpeet",, 09:22, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
I wouldn't doubt that Mesmer, Necromancer, and Ranger - assuming they return like suspected - will be the next 3 professions released. Then whatever's left. I think Assassin may be the only expansion profession returning - even with this. Though Paragon has a strong chance as the second soldier - i.e., this fella. It just won't be using a spear in GW2. -- Konig/talk 09:25, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
To whoever put up the first picture at the side, all 3 adventurer professions will be able to wear the same armor. So your logic is a bit flawed. EiveTalk 05:41, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Don't forget, that they are likely to be previewed and shown in different armor though, they won't use the same armor for the elementalist that they do for another scholar, just because that would be confusing and its easier if we can identify them by what their armor says. So just because they can, does not mean they will, at least here when they are just releasing them.--Corsair@Yarrr 07:02, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

I'm actually wondering what they mean by "same armor" - is it same design? Thus looking exactly the same? If so, that would be rather bad for PvP - gotta wait for them to cast a spell in order to know what profession it is other than by clicking on it. Or do they mean like Factions, NF, and most of EN's armors? That is, it's all named the same, but they look different? That is, there won't be any Silver Eagle armor, or Flameforged, or Drakescale armor that is to just one profession. -- Konig/talk 07:37, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm fairly certain it means a collective pool of armor in a class that everybody can choose from with the same look. Yes, it could get confusing for PvP, so hopefully their play styles are enough to set them apart.--Corsair@Yarrr 08:09, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
I believe that's a job for the new and improved skill animations. If we're supposed to be able to tell the skill name just by looking at it, then seeing the profession in most skills should be rather easy. And @Corsair, I was referring to the "2010 July-Downed" picture. A person in leather throwing an axe doesn't really scream Assassin to me. But what I meant by my comment, was that if the character in the image was an adventurer, then all adventurer classes would have the same armor. Leather armor does happen to be a trademark of "ranger-like classes" in all games. So there isn't any reason for us to assume that that armor is for an assassin. EiveTalk 09:01, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
I Think they'll call it Guardian :o --User The Holy Dragons sig.pngThe Holy Dragons

Monk[edit]

It's a monk. They've largely reworked all the other core professions they've released(Aside from ele, only little changes there). This will be a Monk more in the sense of what monks are in other RPG's; self-supporting holy warriors who only use blunt weapons(Hence the mace). It's a monk.--Gerroh 16:54, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

It could be called a Cleric too, since Monks in most other games are used as a fist fighting type character, while Clerics tend to be either a pure healer or a paladin. Maybe even a mix of the two. I personally don't think they will call it a monk, just doesn't seem to fit. If anything, Cleric fits the best. [Daegalus - talk] 07:34, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
I don't think it'll be Cleric either. It's too associated with "healer". Also, doesn't it have religious connotations ? That wouldn't fit with any race but humans. 195.132.194.163 09:42, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
There will be no religious-themed professions, Gerroh. The non-human races have no interest in "holy" anything. Arshay Duskbrow 01:42, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
None of their beliefs directly contradict with the human gods either. Just sayin'. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 22:35, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
It's been mentioned a thousand times and I guess i'll be number 1001. There will be no specific healing professions, so no monks or clerics. Paladin could indeed be a possibility, but I think it would be more supportive than healing. But still, as said earlier, paladin sounds human and also holy, so that makes me doubt. 82.72.117.104 14:40, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

"So that makes me doubt."? Grammatical inaccuracies. I am disappoint. 68.144.97.124 04:48, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
Nothing grammatically wrong with that statement. The verb "doubt" doesn't need an object.
@99: The hostility and swearing aren't necessary. Cool it. -- ķ̌ɎǾshĺ User Kyoshi sig.png 17:49, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
Well technically, it would sound better to say "so that makes me doubt = insert subject=".... anywho, lets get back to the topic at hand, preferably without needless cussing. If you disagree, say so, cussing will just make people think you're a jerk.~ Reez 20:42, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
@OP, except monks in other games do not wear heavy armor. The most likely profession at this point is some Paladin-esque profession. EiveTalk 04:53, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
Ever played Baldur's Gate?--99.225.28.182 03:56, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
Yes, weren't Monks not very effective with platemail? It has been soooo long since I played that. EiveTalk 04:18, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent)It's been a long time for me, too, but I do remember being a healer in heavy armor. Also, couldn't this just be another warrior?--99.225.28.182 04:29, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

We also need to remember that Anet's been thinking outside the box with this, and that Monks, in Guild Wars, belong to both Dwayna and Balthazar. While the gods are playing less of a role, supposedly, we have to remember Balthazar = Whoop some ass... Which smiting prayers would've done if it were more thoroughly rebalanced.--99.225.28.182 04:33, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
look the girl with the mace is a female warrior with a mace and shield, honestly what took so long to figure this out? lol, it has already been revealed to us that warriors can use a mace and shield and I highly doubt that its anything more simple then that. - 74.171.163.219 05:40, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
The reason we think it might not be a warrior it because it's blue, and Anet colour-codes everything. Note that all the other revealed professions had specific colour themes. So it could be a warrior, but everyone thought it was a holy something because it's blue, like monks from GW1.--99.225.28.182 13:14, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
Possible Cleric or Templar The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.186.102.138 (talkcontribs).
Templar isn't really a profession, it's an order of people. Cleric vs Templar is like Monk vs Jew, sorta. But yeah, I think that's the idea.--Gerroh 07:23, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
In-game titles and GW lore consists of Seraph, Vanguard, Knight, and more that I'm probably missing. But those are very good possibilities. When incorporating all of the races, however, Vanguard seems to make the most since. Absintheminded 04:30, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Izzy sez...[edit]

http://twitter.com/#!/IzzyCartwright/status/28647047158566914 "My Guardian on Dev is now named "Bluemace Lady" <3." I don't think it gets more plainer than that. -- ᴥ GreyGhost (talk!) ᴥ 03:18, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

I agree. Should we just go ahead and say this is the Guardian? :) It is pretty obvious. --AmannelleUser Amannelle Me.jpg 20:36, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
Noooo! Seriously, I would rather not. So far, all the other profession reveal images were not the real thing; whenever the real wallpaper was released, it had some kind of change (a massive one, in the case of necromancers). We risk having ArenaNet release the true guardian wallpaper showing a woman with a sword, and learn that the BML cannot actually use a mace : P Erasculio 20:42, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
You and Konig, boo! /fistshake :P Anyway, the Guardian article is prepared in my Sandbox, more or less. :) - Infinite - talk 20:49, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
True.... it could change significantly... though I personally think it'll just be a hammer or sword instead. :D --AmannelleUser Amannelle Me.jpg 21:10, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
I would expect a sword, but they already did that for the warrior image. A sword is symbolic of a protector or guardian in most cultures, especially laser swords in galaxies far, far away. –~=Ϛρѧякγ AHHH! (τѧιк) ←♥– 03:09, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
