This is the icon taken from one of the extended experience app screenshots. It is much cleaner than the one we currently have, though smaller. It also may not be exactly the same as the one in-game. [1] Should we use it? --Emelend 01:15, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

yes, this is exactly the same as keeping tango icons on gww (which was undisputed, btw), they represent a part of the game; therefore we use them. However, in this case, its not representing part of the game: it is part of the game. — Scythe 2:17, 29 Sep 2010 (UTC)

yeah, sorry misinterpreted what you said. Actual in-game icon > third party 'mimic' image. Plus, its intended to be at least a little blurry. ( i think) — Scythe 21:51, 30 Sep 2010 (UTC)
Actually, it is first party; Arenanet made it. Here's an actual screeny from Guild Wars 2: [2] The icon is only about 21x21 pixels there too. I mean, I could break out my digital camera and record a movie of the icon up close, then upload it to youtube, stretch it out by viewing it fullscreen, take a screenshot, load it into photoshop, and apply a circular crop. Then it'll be just as poor quality as what we have now, but I think I could get it up to like 400x400 pixels. --Emelend 22:04, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
that'd be far too much work. Tbh if i wanted to, i'd use camtasia -> photoshop -> lossless rescale -> upload, but 50x50 is already large enough. A digital camera, would create an odd angle, see (and glare). — Scythe 22:14, 30 Sep 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, my response was sarcasm, because that process is exactly what got us what we have. I could easily resize the icon and upload it, but there is no point. Making an image bigger in photoshop is the same thing as making the image bigger in an internet browser. If we have the ingame image, that's it. The end. --Emelend 22:17, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
Photoshop CS5extended has a lossless transform tool, it multiplies the ppi or something. But w/e it does, theres no drop in quality. — Scythe 22:30, 30 Sep 2010 (UTC)
I am using CS5 Extended, and I hope you realize that what you are implying is impossible. Lossless transform simply lets you do multiple transforms without rasterization inbetween. --Emelend 23:09, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
IMO the clearer smaller image is the better one. I'd rather have an image which I can easily identify as a skull and crossed bones rather than one I cannot. The place where it is used resizes the image to the size of the one Emeland is uploading anyway so the smaller one is no problem. -- Aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 23:19, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Googled. Found nothing except "lossless transformation of JPEG images," which (should be) obviously something different. I don't see how this doesn't make sense to you, but it is basic common sense. It's like trying to find your house by enlarging a picture of the earth until you can see it. That information isn't somehow tucked away in the picture, which comes out when you enlarge it. You'll just get a big blurry mess, and no matter how much you sharpen it, you won't see your house. Same concept here. Reference image: [3] --Emelend 12:11, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
