Well, if our reference for character shapes came exclusively from the shooting gallery sign and bar menu stand, I can see how the W character could have gotten corrupted in visual copying. Alternatively, perhaps the W shape just wasn't good enough before; it was rather ampersand-y. (&) -Yossitaru 08:16, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
