Since I don't want to do a revert war, I'll start this instead. I really feel like the screenshot I had put back is a lot more vibrant and interesting to look at than the current one. First of all, it's in more of a natural environment considering what the actual NPC is, which I think all pages should do. The buildings in the background just take a lot away from the actual model.
The other point that was brought up was size. Bigger doesn't always mean better. Honestly, the reason why it's bigger is because the wingspan is stretched outwards as widely as possible. Remove that and it would be in a similar size to the other one, and the extended wingsize doesn't boost the image's quality, I'd say it's a detriment since it becomes less condensed. I'd suggest taking an entirely new image with the pose of the current screenshot, but a less cluttered background. The previous image had a really awkward angle and focus (mostly due to the wings). I don't think natural environments are really relevant for the shared images. What matters are the creatures. Hence why the backgrounds need to be neutral and clutterfree. At this point, most creature shots are taken in natural environments (I even saw some image requests for it, which I agreed with and went back and took some) so I don't see why we should stop with this one. As for the odd angle you speak of, I don't see it personally. Just looks like a regular slight profile angle, which I think looks alright. But at the end of the day, the biggest drawback for me is the background. When I think of a fire elemental, I don't think of a quaint little town. I'm not saying it needs to be taken in an active volcano but anything more natural would be more fitting. Nero9012 (talk) 16:57, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
Honestly, I don't understand this fixation on "natural" backgrounds. "Most creature shots are taken in natural environments" — well, of course, since any environment the mob spawns in is its "natural" habitat. I don't think anyone is actively trying to find the best spawn location that looks the most "natural." You take the image where you can get the best shot of the creature (taking into account lighting and terrain due to clipping). If "natural" backgrounds mattered, there wouldn't be a shared model project to begin with. User Incarnazeus Signature.pngtalk 17:14, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
The current picture (by Doodle) shows the creature better as it is full body and not a weird pose where part of its hand is mixed with the torso. Overall, the detail/quality/pose is better. And well, technically, the background is natural since Embers are found in that village. ~Sime 17:29, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
You're seriously telling me that a village is a natural habitat for a fiery elemental? So taking a picture of a dog if it spawned in the Brand would be natural? Spawn locations don't always equal natural environments, that's not logical at all. And no, Embers aren't naturally found in that village, there's just the one, which sticks out like a sore thumb, with reason given the whole lore about the place it's in. With the existence of stealth, which I've been using, you don't need to always stick with allied NPCs to get good fitting pictures. I'm not taking a jab at the positioning, so I'm not sure why it's being brought up, I've made it clear what's my issue with the image. Lighting and pose are good (with less wingspan ideally), background is not so good.
Edit: Just saw the new picture, much better and what I had in mind. Could've dropped the passive aggressiveness just because I offered my viewpoint on this but you do you I guess. Nero9012 (talk) 17:56, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
Personally I think you read more emotion into the feedback provided here than was actually there. Bringing up other points of the image quality is part of a good discussion and valid feedback. That said thanks to Inc we have an excellent new image. —Kvothe (talk) 19:26, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
I'm not talking about the discussion, although I feel like some of my points were needlessly twisted. My remark was directed at the edit summary for the file. That's pretty standard passive-aggressive phrasing and if you didn't write it like that, maybe use better wording. Nero Nine-O 19:38, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I think something got confused so I’ll just state it here: it best for allied NPCs that are used widely to have neutral background. Enemy NPCs for the most part can be anywhere so the backgrounds for them really don’t matter. I will admit the background in mine did need to change here though, so thank you and lovely shot Inc. - Doodleplex 22:34, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

Yes, I never refuted that. My only point was that picking this one specific Ember, which is the only allied one outside of summoned Fire Elementals, was a poor representation for the entirety of Embers in the game, especially given the environment it was in. Nero Nine-O 23:41, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
