she wields her daggers in a weird way imo :p (I would place my hand just underneath the hilt) --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 14:26, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

That does indeed give better grip and stronger leverage. - Infinite - talk 14:32, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Does anyone know what this armor is called? --Enda - talk 05:14, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

It's one of armors shown on the profession selection preview, so it's probably a medium-high level set, but not too rare. Don't think I have ever seen anyone actually wearing it in game or any videos. Mediggo 06:22, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Well, considering that the elementalists' selection armor is shown for the elementalist, and used by the elementalist and mesmer, who's selection armor isn't in the game either. And the fact that the starter armor used by the thief is actually the ranger's selection armor, I believe that this is the thief's selection (starter) armor, and that they are having problems with it. I.E. they can't get it to work on the charr, asura, and/or sylvari. --Enda - talk 16:14, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Weird. I'd rather not have my thief have a leather-latex fetish armor, at least from level 1. Still hope all armor we've seen so far make it to the game. Mediggo 17:34, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
When I was at work, it finally dawned on me... They were using the Warrior's armor for the Soldier professions, the Ranger armor for the Adventurer professions, and the Elementalist's armor for the Scholar professons. And... If you don't like it, you can use the Ranger or Engineer's armor, as I believe any profession can use any armor in their weight class. I think the idea of having problems with it came from their wanting to hire a character artist. It kinda makes sense to have only one of each class of armor in the betas, as it gives them more time to deal with higher priorities first. As to the leather-latex look, I think it's the sexiest armor we've seen so far. Although, the pauldrons could definately go. --Enda - talk 04:19, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
There is no such thing as "ranger armor" or "elementalist armor" - all armors of the same armor class can be used by all professions in that armor class. The armor you see at the profession-select screen is probably an end-game armor for that armor class that "looks" most fitting for that profession - it's sort of an enticement to make the profession look appealing. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 04:48, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
I beg to differ... It's definately not end-game armor. In BWE 2: The Warrior's profession-select screen is the armor they start with. The Ranger's profession-select screen is the Rawhide armor they start with. The Elementalist's profession-select screen is the armor they start with. I played every profession during BWE 2, and even switched between characters to compare skills against the same target. And, because every profession in each weight class wore the same armor, and I set up all of my characters the same, it became difficult to remember which was which by appearance alone. BTW-They only had those three armors available from vendors in BWE 2. Also, there were two other armors in each class that were available in drops, Such as the Aventurer's Marksman, and the Studded armors. The Rawhide and Studded armors are also Ranger armors in GW1. I don't recall the names of the Heavy or Scholar armors, as I fairly early in BWE 2 had narrowed my profession selection down to the Thief. I tried hard to like the Ranger (my GW1 favorite) more, but the Thief won out. At level 10, the armor headgear available from the vendors in GW2 for the thief was the GW1 Rangers Mask, not the GW2 Subterfuge or Anonymity hoods you get at character creation. --Enda - talk 05:35, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
I almost forgot, the Thief's profession-select screen is the armor in the screenshot we are discussing, but they start with the Ranger's Rawhide armor. --Enda - talk 05:55, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
Pretty sure Ishmael (and myself) was talking about the profession preview screen which provides a quick glimpse of how the profession might look like. All warriors and guardians I had created started with chainmail-like armor, and the profession preview screen displayed other sets, which I have yet to see an actual BWE characters wear. Mediggo 09:40, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
That's correct - on the profession select screen, each profession wears a distinct and quite fancy armor set. As soon as you advance past that screen, though, they switch to the starter armor for their armor class. You can see it happening in this video. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:05, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
Alright, in this video is what I saw, I guess my concentration on testing all of the professions, their skills, and the various personal stories, I forgot some things. Oops! And, while I agree about any profession within each weight class can wear any armor, (I swapped armor pieces between professions using the bank,) I still believe that there are profession specific armors. Of the Marksman, Rawhide, and Studded armors available to the Adventurer professons, two are known to be GW1 Ranger armors. Add to that, the fact that only the Ranger's Mask is available for Adventurer's headgear would seem to support that. In fact, I never got any headgear in loot, and there was only one headgear piece for each weight class in the vendors, and only after level 10. But... Be that as it may, my original question still remains: Does anyone know the name of this armor? --Enda - talk 16:44, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
Just because a GW2 armor set has a name shared with GW1 armor set does not make them belong to one profession only. :P Mediggo 20:56, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
Let's agree to disagree? --Enda - talk 21:54, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

So does anybody have a name for this armor yet? ~ A R A ~ 17:51, 7 October 2012 (UTC)

The chest piece goes by the name "Leather Coat" as a PvP armor, and the other pieces of the set are similiarly named, though there is another kind of Leather armor as well. I'm guessing it could be "Duelist Coat" in PvE since they are listed quite valuable, but unable to confirm that at this time. You might wanna check some database sites for those I mentioned.
