Thanks alot, sry if this isn't the right place, im new to all this wiki stuff. Any tips on how to improve the userpage, it's a little empty atm.Melkior 15:40, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Most users either implement div /or tables to create layouts. This is a helpful article for understanding tables, and for understanding div, these articles are helpful. Basically, you can use div to construct a box, and you can use the css attributes within the div tag to customize it. (E.g. <div style="color:123456; background-color:123456; etc.; position:absolute; left:25px; top:30px;"></div>.
There are 3 types of positioning: absolute, relative, and fixed. You can use fixed position if you want something to stay in a certain position relative to the screen (even when you scroll left-right or top-bottom, it will stay in its exact position on the screen. Absolute positioning sticks an object at an absolute position, and it will stay at that position so that you can scroll past it. Relative positioning is very similar to absolute positioning, but it takes up space, whereas absolute positioning causes an object to not take up any space (overlapping is possible).-- Shew 16:33, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the info, i'll try to get my head round this. Melkior 17:23, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Also, try to indent :D. You can indent using the : or, colon. It helps with keeping track of the conversation :). Also, are you signing with four tildes or, ~'s? Don't take this the wrong way, just trying to help :). --Naoroji User Naoroji Golem - Green.jpg 21:08, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
yeah i am(signing with four tildes) and np, i'm new so the more i know now, the less mistakes i make later. Melkior 21:40, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

User Template[edit]

I read through what I could about what shew posted (regarding the table/div) and i was wondering if there's an easier way rather then reading and using the complciated code. (thanks for the info though shew) because i'm not a genius on the that stuff. Melkior 09:51, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

You are allowed to create a Sandbox on your userspace (i.e: User:Melkior/Sandbox) and toy around with the codes there, slowly getting the hang of it. Or you can ask anyone to create most of your userpage for you and I'm sure they'll set it up with you. =] - Infinite - talk 10:23, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Or, you could always steal someone else's templates ;D. Mine has been stolen four times now, gah. --Naoroji User Naoroji Golem - Green.jpg 10:25, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
thanks for the replies. Is it copy + paste to use the userpages? sry about all the questions, i'm hopeless with computers ^^ Melkior 10:30, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Yes, in essence you can hit "Edit" on someone's user page and copy + paste it onto your own. Of course, alter from there to make it your own page. =] - Infinite - talk 11:23, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
i'll look around for one i like. thanks i appreciate all the help Melkior 12:41, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
