This article lists various methods of acquiring equipment, organized by prefixes and suffixes.

A prefix or suffix is a naming convention to define the attribute combinations an item provides. A complete list of the "prefixes" can be found on attribute combinations.

Legendary equipment[edit]

Primary article: Legendary equipment

Legendary items allow changing of their attribute bonuses freely when out of combat and typically have a variety of special visual effects. All prefixes available in game can be selected for a legendary equipment, regardless owning expansions or not.

Stat selectable equipment[edit]

Stat selectable items, similarly to legendary, also allow choosing their attribute bonuses. However, it can be done only once, the chosen attribute bonuses becomes permanent. This type of equipment will show no attribute list along Double-click to select stats in their tooltip. The list of possible choices will be limited depending on some exceptions and on owned expansions meaning, per example, Viper's will not be available if the player does not own Heart of Thorns.
