This is my attempt to organize the info found for the second boss of the Spirit Vale page.

Gorseval the Multifarious[edit]

Vengeance (Mordrem).png Enraged
Enrage timer of 7 minutes.
Toughness.png Toughness-Based Aggro
Gorseval prioritizes the player with the highest toughness attribute of squad members still alive.
Health.png Health
Gorseval has 21.6 million HP.

Battlefield[edit]

Once the fight starts, Spirit Barriers will be erected around the platform and four updrafts will spawn in each corner. As with other raid bosses, there is a passive effect that deals damage every few seconds: Haunting Aura.

Haunting Aura
A passive damage-dealing effect which comes into effect as soon as Gorseval is engaged into combat.

Phases[edit]

Gorseval Phase[edit]

Gorseval has two basic attacks it will use throughout the fight: a swipe, which deals a small amount of damage to players in front; and a slam, which deals a moderate amount of damage and knocks back all nearby players.

Wicked Swipe
Gorseval's auto-attack will cleave players in front of it for a small amount of damage.
Spectral Impact (slam)
Gorseval raises its left arm high and the air and slams its fist into the ground. This AoE attack deals a medium amount of damage as well as applying Knockback.png knock back and 3 stacks of Torment.png Torment.
Ghastly Rampage[edit]

Gorseval will teleport to the center of the platform and start channelling the Ghastly Rampage attack. Breaking the defiance bar that appears will interrupt the skill. After this attack finishes, Gorseval will summon 5 Angered, Deranged and/or Enraged Spirit.

Ghastly Rampage (pound)
Gorseval will gain Vivid Echo.png Vivid Echo (similar to Retaliation.png Retaliation) and continuously slam the ground, causing portions of the arena to be filled with black goop (in the form of concentric rings).
  • The goop will detonate every 3 seconds and reappear after 1 second, covering portions of the arena in a predictable pattern.
  • Players standing within the goop when it detonates will be dealt a large amount of damage and receive 25 stacks of Vulnerability.png Vulnerability.
  • At the end of channel, the entire platform will be covered in the black goop.
  • This skill can be interrupted by depleting the defiance bar that appears once it becomes active.
    • Any black goop remaining after this attack was interrupted will still detonate.
World Eater[edit]

Gorseval will stop moving, raise its arms, and begin casting World Eater. This attack will kill all players and spirits still remaining on the platform. It is possible to prematurely end World Eater by bringing Gorseval's health below the threshold to trigger the next phase.

World Eater
A red circle will start expanding from the center of the platform. Once it completely fills the platform, all players and spirits still standing on the platform are instantly killed.

"The world erodes around you."

  • Gorseval will gain one stack of Spirited Fusion.png Spirited Fusion for each spirit killed by this attack.
In order to avoid this attack, there are two options typically taken:
Updraft
The tank leads Gorseval to a Spirit Barrier near an updraft such that the squad can destroy the barrier while simultaneously damaging Gorseval and killing the spirits. The squad will glide into an updraft as the red circle fills up and then return to the platform (with the tank going to a different side from the rest of the squad).
No-Updraft
If the squad continues to deal damage to Gorseval until its health is below the threshold for the next phase, Gorseval will cancel World Eater and continue into the next phase as normal. This typically requires the squad to let Ghastly Rampage finish (rather than interrupting) to maximize DPS.
Spirit Phase[edit]

When Gorseval reaches 66% HP it will become invulnerable and move to the center. Four Charged Souls will spawn, each in a different part of the platform (North-east, South-east, South-west, North-west) and begin walking towards Gorseval. If a spirit reaches Gorseval, it immediately begins the World Eater attack. The spirits are immune to hard crowd control effects such as knockback or daze, but are susceptible to soft crowd control. Immobile.png Immobile, Chilled.png Chilled and Crippled.png Crippled work very well for slowing the spirit's progress towards Gorseval. Once all four spirits have been killed, Gorseval becomes vulnerable once again and the fight moves to the next phase.

Progression of Mechanics[edit]
Phase One

To start the fight, players must glide onto the platform. Gorseval won't attack until the first person lands.

{{TODO|Clarify the cadence of the fight around burn-rampage-eater.}} Shortly after performing a successful World Eater, Gorseval will channel the Ghostly Rampage attack again.

Spirit Phase I

When Gorseval reaches 66% HP it will become invulnerable and so begins the first Spirit Phase.

Phase Two

This phase introduces one additional mechanic: Spectral Darkness.

Spectral Darkness (orbs)
Orbs will spawn periodically, and will emanate a circle that slowly increases in size.
  • Any player that touches this circle will receive 10 stacks of  Spectral Darkness.png Spectral Darkness which reduces outgoing damage by 10% per stack, and increases incoming damage by 10% per stack.
  • To remove the debuff, players must walk over golden orbs which spawn after an orb is destroyed. Each dark orb will drop two golden orbs upon destruction. Each golden orb will remove 5 stacks of Spectral Darkness.
Keeping the orbs under control in this phase is very important. Players should focus on destroying the ones that have spawned close by or along the path you will be taking from the center to an updraft and those that have grown too large. After returning from an updraft, it is recommended to clear the ones around where Charged Souls will spawn.
Spirit Phase II

Once Gorseval reaches 33% HP there will be another Spirit Phase. It will largely be the same as last time, but with orbs spawning throughout.

Phase Three

This phase changes the pattern of Gorseval's Ghastly Rampage and introduces a new attack, Ghastly Prison. The fight continues in this way until Gorseval is defeated.

Ghastly Prison (eggs)
Small orange circles will appear under every player and will disappear after a second; any players still standing in these circles will gain Ghastly Prison.png Ghastly Prison and appear to be encased in a cocoon and will have a red arrow over their head.

"Ghostly traps materialize at your feet."

  • Players trapped in a Ghastly Prison will lose access to all of their skills and must break out of the prison using the special action skill (default: -):  Rebel.png Rebel.
  • Players that are not trapped within a Ghostly Prison may help break them out by dealing damage to the prison.

Gorseval will use Ghastly Prison 3 times:

  • Shortly after entering Phase Three
  • Shortly after recovering from Ghastly Rampage
  • Shortly after the squad returns from using updrafts due to World Eater
