Guild Wars 2: Visions of Eternity is the sixth expansion for Guild Wars 2. Its development was confirmed on December 21, 2023.[1] The release date was on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 16:00 UTC+00:00.

According to the expansion announcement, the first quarterly release after the expansion's launch will not include new story or map content. Instead, it will focus on updates to core systems and longstanding features. The second and third quarterly releases will each introduce a larger, more content-rich map and a longer, more fully developed story than in previous mini expansions' quarterly releases.[2]

Purchasing[edit]

The expansion is available through the online store and the in-game Black Lion Trading Company panel.

  • External source — creating a new account or upgrading an existing account requires the redemption of the serial code

Features[edit]

Plot[edit]

Primary article: Visions of Eternity story

Tyria's leaders are anxious about rumors of covert Inquest voyages launched in search of Castora, an island so remote that it's long been thought to be inaccessible—or even nonexistent. The risks involved prevent all but the most tenacious (and perhaps foolhardy) of pursuers from investigating the Inquest's plan. Sailors believe the place to be cursed, and no one who sails there ever returns. It turns out this situation was largely due to treacherous storms caused by a confluence of elder dragon magic. Now that the elder dragon cycle has ended, the Inquest have taken an interest in unlocking the island’s secrets.[4]

Trivia[edit]

  • Fashion templates were initially announced to also save the appearance of trinkets and cosmetic infusions, but this line was changed in the blog a few hours after the announcement, likely because the aesthetic features of those items are tied to the equipment.
  • For the Chinese version of Guild Wars 2, the elite specialization teasers were accompanied by short poems.[36][37] The following are the original poems accompanied by possible interpretations[38] of them:
    • Teaser #1 - 浮生鸣弦 心寄流云 "In this fleeting life, the strings resonate; heart entrusted to the drifting clouds."
    • Teaser #2 - 铁胄化羽 千嶂凝锋 "Iron helmet transforms into feathers; a thousand mountain ridges condense into blades."
    • Teaser #3 - 银流千形 募影塑倾 "Silver flows into a thousand forms; shadows gather to mold and pour."
    • Teaser #4 - 千诡计藏 斗转入彀 "A thousand cunning schemes concealed; as the Big Dipper turns, they fall into the trap."
    • Teaser #5 - 锐意破风 狩影惊澜 "With sharp resolve, breaking through the wind; hunting shadows, startling the waves."
    • Teaser #6 - 引祭通玄 英芒灼霜 "Invoking rites to reach the profound; brilliance scorch the frost."
    • Teaser #7 - 唤野归元 愈世循疆 "Summoning the wild to return to the origin; increasingly, the world follows its boundaries."
      • The character "愈" could have been the simplified form of "癒" which means to heal or to recover; in that case, the translation would be "Summoning the wild to return to the origin; healing the world by following its boundaries."
    • Teaser #8 - 神风敕云 岚聚贯穹 "Divine winds command the clouds; mist gathers, piercing the firmament."
    • Teaser #9 - 熔光铸壁 辉甲永峙 "Molten light forges the wall, radiant armour stands eternal."
