Ambient dialogue[edit]
- Next to the Mistburned Barrens Insight: Grand Athenaeum
- Manikaz: Orestes kept the archives orderly to a ridiculous degree. Books perfectly aligned, stairs and shelves swept several times a day
- Manikaz: From my youth until years after my gilding, he would incessantly scrutinize my every thought and the merits of my research.
- Manikaz: One of few elders clinging to the promise of the gate and our so-called "ancestral home."
- Manikaz: Komalie should have been all that mattered. Our survival should have been all that mattered!
- Manikaz: Seraf, Poloni... They would still be here.
- Around The Veiled Library
- Mursaat Ghost (1): The titans claw...
- Mursaat Ghost (1): Behind its maw...
- Mursaat Ghost (1): Our lost ill-gotten gains.
- Mursaat Ghost (2): Through wild and storm...
- Mursaat Ghost (2): Behold thy form...
- Mursaat Ghost (2): We are but the remains.
- Mursaat Ghost (3): Matched and mirrored...
- Mursaat Ghost (3): And something weird...
- Mursaat Ghost (3): This world between is ours.
- Mursaat Ghost (4): Our thoughts still last...
- Mursaat Ghost (4): From far-flung past...
- Mursaat Ghost (4): Never to see the stars.
- Mursaat Ghost (5): The Fallen's servants stir...
- Mursaat Ghost (5): Heed her prophecy...
- Mursaat Ghost (5): Spill the chosen's blood...
- Mursaat Ghost (5): Set our people free.
- Researcher Lari: Hey, Lorn, take a look at this one...
- Researcher Lorn: What is it...?
- Researcher Lorn: Hm. A battle between the seers and the mursaat? Here, in Janthir?
- Researcher Lari: Probably at the height of the war. Must've been way before the titans turned this place into a heap of spare parts.
- Researcher Lari: Lured them into a pit and filled it with spectral agony. Yuck.
- Researcher Lorn: The mursaat got what was coming to them, at least...
- South of The Veiled Library
- Explorer Khamryn: The last time titans were in Tyria, they arrived via portal, connected to the Realm of Torment in the Mists.
- Explorer Khamryn: Do you suppose that's where this rumoured "door" also leads? Are there more titans waiting for us?
- Rift Hunter Josif: Based on local spawn numbers? I'd say we're damn close to finding out.
- Rift Hunter Josif: I'm no scholar, though. I'm just here to hit bugs real hard. (chuckles)
- Rift Hunter Josif: Escort duty... I should be out there, crushing titans!
- Explorer Khamryn: At three times your height, hunter? They'd be doing the crushing.
- Rift Hunter Josif: Not the smaller ones.
- Explorer Khamryn: Ventari, grant me patience...
- By The Gilded Approach
- Astral Ward Skirmisher: This must be the path the titans took. Their spawn still cling to the area, even after their creator's death.
- Astral Ward Mage: Quite the feast.
- Astral Ward Mage: We first hypothesized that the rot emitted directly from the titans... But even upon their death, the energies persist.
- Astral Ward Mage: They may have spread the Mistburn beyond Bava Nisos, but the source is still active.
- Kodan Stoutheart: Perhaps from that "gate" you spoke of?'
- Astral Ward Skirmisher: ...Yeah.
- Kodan Stoutheart: Hrum. The rot here does not feel the same as it did back home... It's deeper. Darker.
- Astral Ward Mage: Oh...your fear is justified. I've encoutered similar readings during my fractal research.
- Astral Ward Skirmisher: Mists energy, no doubt. But I've never found it this saturated within the bounds of Tyria... Not outside of experimentation.
- Near the door leading into Bava Nisos
- First approach
- Brazen Sunrise: Worry not, Katla, I will keep a vigilant eye on our surroundings while you work.
- Illuminate Katla: Thanks. Whatever's keeping this gate sealed is powerful. I can't get a read on it... We must be here for a while.
- Brazen Sunrise: Until I know the village is safe, I will remain by your side.
- Second approach
- Illuminate Katla: The magic binding this gate doesn't seem to be of mursaat origin. Thought it might be a defense mechanism for the city...but no.
- Brazen Sunrise: Did the strangers not come from this fortress? Could they have caused this?
- Illuminate Katla: I don't think so. They weren't this powerful.
- Third approach
- Illuminate Katla: (gasp) Ah.
- Brazen Sunrise: Katla?
- Illuminate Katla: I'm fine. I tried to connect with the enchantment—to see if I could determine our distance from the source...
- Brazen Sunrise: What did you find?
- Illuminate Katla: I could be mistaken, but... This door feels like just one side of the enchantment. And it reaches across the entire mountain.
- Illuminate Katla: I don't know what to make of that.
- Subsequent approaches
- Illuminate Katla: No news yet, Wayfinder. We'll let you know if we can manage to get inside.
- Brazen Sunrise: Be careful out there.
