ArenaNet Image? Really? --SharkinuUser Sharkinu sig.png 07:43, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Well... I took it from http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Guildwiki-icon-small.png ^_^; --User RAd1cAl EdwArd Guildwiki-icon-small.pngRAd1cAl_EdwArd 13:33, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
This is derivative work of the Prophecies 'mission complete' logo, is it not? In which case, I believe it belongs to ArenaNet. --Riddle 05:59, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
We dont tag tango profession icons with arenanet tag.--SharkinuUser Sharkinu sig.png 06:21, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Well, was their copyright(edness?) ever discussed anywhere? --Riddle 15:46, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Also, if I read right, most of the tango profession symbols qualify as simple geometry. Though that doesn't change the fact that they were created to look like ArenaNet's work. --Riddle 18:15, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Still is not the first time when we see a shield and 2 swords. http://www.google.com/images?q=shield+two+swords+logo --SharkinuUser Sharkinu sig.png 07:17, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
That's quite irrelevant to the point. It's not just any shield-with-two-swords-behind-it; it clearly resembles the shield-with-two-swords-behind-it-that ArenaNet-used-in-Prophecies, which, to the best of my knowledge, wasn't used elsewhere. You also didn't answer my question about the copyright of the Tango Guild Wars icons. --Riddle 00:46, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
guildwiki's image can be found here, i went diving in the source code of the page and found it. (for firefox or chrome users interested in doing the same, ctrl + u is the default hotkey for view source of a webpage). However, because its the mainnav's image, its not stored on the wiki iirc, its on wikia's server. However I'm fairly sure all mainnav image need to be either GFDL, or Fair Use. Only thing would be that this image (maybe) cant be on GW2W, since its not a part of the game (that we know of, although, i doubt it, the new icons are more of a graphic art). Hope this clarifies things. — Scythe 0:56, 23 Sep 2010 (UTC)
I'm fairly certain the image can be used on this wiki because it's ArenaNet's image, unless they've explicitly forbidden it. I'd just like to properly tag it. --Riddle 01:04, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
anet didnt make all the tangos, did they? I know poke made (or at least uploaded) all / most of the tango's for GWW, and i think the creator of gwiki created that one, could be wrong though. — Scythe 1:06, 23 Sep 2010 (UTC)
As it's not tagged on GWW, you can rest assured a tag is not required on GW2W either. If you really want to slap a tag on; I would be going with a GW1 image tag. Just my two cents~ - Infinite - talk 01:14, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
actually, it'd be a Gwiki tag (which i dont think we have?) since its the Gwiki logo. Just my two cents. — Scythe 1:15, 23 Sep 2010 (UTC)
If it were GWiki, it would have to be deleted due to licensing. But it's not, it's ArenaNet's . I'd also like to see the discussion where we decided that we didn't need to tag the more complex tango icons as being derivative of ArenaNet's works. --Riddle 01:21, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
As I have nothing better to do, allow me to dig into the archives over at GWW. :)
EDIT: [1] There you go, Poke explains~ - Infinite - talk 01:24, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
I dont know if that was meant to be, Riddle, but that came off as rather hostile...
in other news, the great ruler poke declares that they dont need to be tagged w/ Anet! so it shall be :) — Scythe 1:37, 23 Sep 2010 (UTC)
Okay, and now I ask: Why would something like this be licensed under GFDL and not ArenaNet's license? Note: I've been basing this discussion on Ariyen's starfleet logo, where the copyright was thrown into question because it was basically derived from whichever company has the copyright on Star Trek. In this case, though, rather than delete it, we would just tag it as ArenaNet's. --Riddle 01:45, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
I could discuss with my limited knowledge on copyright, but I assume it'd be for the best to adress this question to Poke directly. :) - Infinite - talk 01:48, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
i'd second that. — Scythe 1:57, 23 Sep 2010 (UTC)
I didn't know there was so many people looking at my sign icon, at least not with my very active profile (last contrib 5 month ago) ^_^; --User RAd1cAl EdwArd Guildwiki-icon-small.pngRAd1cAl_EdwArd 14:13, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Serious apologies for bursting your bubble, but we aren't. This is what we're looking at. User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.jpg A F K When Needed 15:54, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Excuse me for neglecting this for nearly a month, but Poke sounded his opinion on the case a few days after the conversation here died. I still move to stick the ArenaNet tag on the image, but I want to be sure that I won't aggravate anybody ;) --Riddle 16:31, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
