I do not see a reason to retake the picture. There is little to no difference between night and day only minor shading differences, and the focus of the picture is the raven spirit which is clearly shown at night (and with the current non-distracting, complimentary background). In addition, being on a human female is unnecessary as there are no clipping issues within the picture. Jwaz (talk) 22:56, 26 September 2016 (UTC)

Using a human females during the day keeps weapon shots clean, in natural light(short colour theory lesson: items will have appear to have different colours at night than during the day) and focused on the target with no distractions(like norn tattos or being too small because on an asura). That's the standard the wiki has chosen, and the majority of weapon pictures follow this suit, other than a few weapons/items that have a different appearance at night. It would have to be either retaken(or reverted maybe, the previous image looked fine to me) anyway because you cut the bottom of the staff off. - Doodleplex 23:26, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
I retook the image to include the bottom of the staff. I do not accept this so called "standard the wiki has chosen" of using only human females. GW2 has five races (so far) and the wiki should be representative of that diversity. I understand the need to use human models in the case of clipping issues, however that does not apply to (most) weapons. In addition, I know not of an official statement on the wiki that says only human females can be used, this rule was decided by a primarily hetero-male player-base that prefer to look at the female figure as shown in the previous nevermore image where half the image was of said female figure. I have been active on the GW2 wiki for four years now and this human-female only rule is a recent - and infuriating - development. Jwaz (talk) 06:06, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
On the whole I like the images that we currently have on Nevermore.
Just because we chose to use a large number of images from the german weapon/armor project doesn't mean we have to go down the route of the meta player appearance, it shouldn't matter as long as it isn't an Asura with a tiny staff or a Charr with a tail clipping through it.
About File:Nevermore wielded.jpg; it's a right pain in the arse to screenshot this weapon because it has a dark element (the staff) and the light element (the animation) so we won't usually be able to see everything at once, but that is okay. The animation is the main bit here and the rest of the staff has the same appearance as when equipped (minus the raven), so I propose we use a darker screenshot for this weapon to see the animation clearly.
Looking at this old one, there isn't any angle that shows both wings and the head disctinctly enough to pick one view over any other. Evidently the wings are the same so we should be able to see at the head once and at least one wing clearly without being blended into the second wing.
I'm not sure where Jwaz took this one, but the lighting is perfect (animation+staff). I'm tempted to revert to that version, we can see the bottom of the staff in the File:Nevermore Details.jpg image anyway which is a good thing.
Anyway if you two don't stop reverting each other I'll have to offer a bounty to reddit to do it for me :p -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 22:40, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
My issue it's just with it being taken at night because it changes how the staff actually looks. The wood has a reddish colour, and on his shots, because he takes them at night, it looks dark blue, almost black. And that's what's bothering me, it's not showing how the staff actually looks. I also get the staff being wielded is tricky to shoot which is why I angled it such when I took the wielded shot so you can see everything clearly(the runes show better during the day because if you take them at night they're less visible due to the colour spectrum at night), the light and the dark, and have the colour of the staff be correct. Also, I honestly don't care who takes said day pictures either (I know some people get really picky if their picture gets uploaded over, ego trips I guess?), just please, show the staff as it is. - Doodleplex 23:09, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
The subject material of the particular image in question is the spirit raven while wielding Nevermore. While I agree that a night-time image distorts the color of the wood, it does a better job of clearly showing said spirit raven. Lastly it is not a matter of ego-trips, I just wholeheartedly believe that a night-time image does Nevermore's effects justice. Jwaz (talk) 01:08, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Been thinking about this. How about since the issue here seems to be the spirit of the raven on the top of the staff, taking a separate picture of that, a Staff head detail, so that the staff wielded shot can be shown during the day? That way the staff and it's finer details get shown nicely? - Doodleplex 07:04, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

Revisiting[edit]

... I don't get it I thought we'd agreed the current image was okay? -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 18:54, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
Did you now? I briefly glanced over these discussions and have yet to find an agreement. User Incarnazeus Signature.pngtalk 20:03, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
The only thing I know for sure, the picture you just uploaded is gorgeous. *____* - Doodleplex 20:08, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
Okay, Doodle. Imagine this: 4k. Vertical. Need I say more?! User Incarnazeus Signature.pngtalk 20:10, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
*dies* - Doodleplex 20:13, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
Pick another hair style that doesn't clip the raven? (like, a dude..) -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 20:27, 27 November 2016 (UTC)

(Reset indent) It didn't clip though. Anyway, this one better? If you dig the raven that much, File:Nevermore Perched Raven.jpg, by the way. User Incarnazeus Signature.pngtalk 20:49, 27 November 2016 (UTC)

I think the issue is the hair is a dark brown and the staff is brown. So it's more of a colour issue than a clipping issue. - Doodleplex 20:55, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
That one totally did! It's even nuzzling your hair. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 20:57, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
Well, if it's the hair colour, I can retake the shot on my account tomorrow. With a bald character. User Incarnazeus Signature.pngtalk 21:02, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
I think blonde will probably be fine, bald actually might be too distracting heh. - Doodleplex 21:05, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, I was just joking. Still have to make a new character in any case, I don't have any blonde ones. User Incarnazeus Signature.pngtalk 21:09, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
