Since there has been some dispute over whether this is a mace or scepter in this, I figure we put it here. I say mace. EiveTalk 05:08, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

I think it's just a blunted greatsword. So ha! (Mace) 68.144.97.124 05:25, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
All the power of a greatsword, compacted into one hand. Must be Asuran... EiveTalk 05:30, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Hey, if you're so awesome you can spawn a sword, shield, and mace all chained together to fight with you against your enemies, you can hold anything in one hand. Including ~dramatic music~ THE SUN!68.144.97.124 05:42, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
How would that work exactly, would you throw it at people? And if so, who you have to run to them to pick it back up? EiveTalk 05:55, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Obviously it would spawn back in your hand like axes do. *scoff* -- ķ̌yǾshĺ User Kyoshi sig.png 06:14, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Infinite spawning suns.... I'm not a doctor, but I think there could be a problem with this. OT: I think this is simply some kind of simple design mace, but we haven't seen many examples of maces or scepters, so it's hard to tell. EiveTalk 06:15, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
I lean toward scepter just because of the "casting pose". But I can't really tell either, so the naming is fine for now. -- ķ̌yǾshĺ User Kyoshi sig.png 06:17, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
BTW this pic. was first seen at the NYCC so maybe it's the new prof reveal? and if this is a profession i'm not gonna play it :S (well maybe later) but I don't like the way he fights :( I want a more para thingy (though it's probaply not possible (since para's are HOLY (Human only?) and spears aren't in the initial release of GW2)(and yes this comment doesn't make sense) --User The Holy Dragons sig.pngThe Holy Dragons 10:49, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
I'm also going to say mace. Just based on the stance and the shield (yes I know it is possible to have a scepter and shield, but I don't think that would agree with the clothing). As for the launched hammer, perhaps it's related to lightning hammer, but more ghastly. There are other various hammer skills from other games, I think WC3 had storm bolt, and I vaguely recall a game where some clerics could throw Thor's hammer (or something like that). Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 14:14, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
"and I vaguely recall a game where some clerics could throw Thor's hammer" I think you're thinking of Diablo 2's Paladin. Not sure though. But yeah, I'd say this was a mace simply because of the fact that (way more than likely) this is the 2nd Soldier, and some type of Paladin/Knight at that. A mace would simply be more logical than a scepter. EiveTalk 15:49, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Hah, I actually totally forgot about D2. Which is weird because I was watching the D3 info this morning. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 16:20, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
I need to watch some of that... Been distracted by Fable III. (I'm so great at going off topic) EiveTalk 16:43, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Obviously a revamped weapon spell, it's even got the ghost-blue tint of every other ghostly thing in the game Shadowed Ritualist 17:41, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I would argue that it is a utility spell and not a weapon spell. This is based on the assumption that this is the second soldier. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 17:46, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

It looks like the weapons follow his movement as if he was sorta holding them, if that makes sense. –~=Ϛρѧякγ AHHH! (τѧιк) ←♥– 18:26, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
I can see what you mean.. the best way to explain it would be that the connection is the equivalent of ps3 motion control.... just though I'd muse aloud, but has anyone else noticed we have a blue mace lady as well as a blue mace man? Reez 20:12, October 24 2010 (UTC)
I actually think that was what the person who made the first one was going for with the name. EiveTalk 05:01, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Maybe it is no soldier class, but instead a heavily armored mesmer using GW2 Illusionary Weaponry? The weapons do look more illusionary than ghostly, and it would explain why he has a scepter (I think it's a scepter) and why the creatures are afraid of him. --'Mai Yi' talk 19:02, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Soldier = Heavy Armor | adventurer = Medium armor | Scholar = Light armor.... thats all I have to say --User The Holy Dragons sig.pngThe Holy Dragons 19:08, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Mesmers have not even been officially announced, perhaps they changed mesmers to heavy classes? Maybe they changed the class altogether and it is a new profession using Illusionary Weaponry? --'Mai Yi' talk 19:02, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
Seeing as it seems to be made of one solid chunk of metal, I am saying Mace. Scepters tend to have SOME pattern to them. Also, notice the ropelike material from the end of it... what exactly is that? :O --AmannelleUser Amannelle Me.jpg 22:06, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
It's highly unlikely that they would change the Mesmer to a Soldier profession and yet give us the Heritage Armour that is styled after the original Mesmer concept art. And since the Elementalist, Warrior, Ranger, and Necromancer have all come back as the same types of professions (Frontline, Midline, Backline) it would be strange if suddenly the Mesmer would return as a Frontline player instead of its (original) Backline. 68.144.97.124 00:06, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
And to add to that, I can't really think of what a Mesmer would do as a frontliner. EiveTalk 04:15, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
I find it kind of odd that I didn't notice the sword and shield too, despite the fact that Mr. IP mentioned it earlier... EiveTalk 16:42, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
About the roles: Warriors are no longer frontline exclusive, they can be as efficent as the best as a shooter. About not seeing how would work a frontline mesmer: I would imagine it like a harlequin tricky fighting style with illusions, so it's possible that we see a mesmer with a sword (please, give them main hand sword, please), but it wouldn't be very "incharacter" to give heavy armor to a mesmer. Lokheit 10:39, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

(Resetting indent for great justice) From Destiny's Edge either this is some class specific to Logan Thackeray, or we may have just seen one of the "new" classes, something between a Warrior and a Ritualist (weapon enchantments and protection + heal). It's either the missing Soldier class or one of the missing Adventurer classes. Logan dons leather armor for quite a bit before changing to plate, too. -- KazDoran 00:29, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Logan's armor in the book cannot be used for the mechanic of whether the profession is soldier or adventurer... because lore and mechanics clash... a lot. Also, it seems more like a mix of monk and paragon going melee to me. No spirits or mentioning of the dead ever, which is the primary viewpoint of ritualists (by dead, I don't mean corpses, but things like ancestors, ashes(?), historical heroes, and so forth). -- Konig/talk 03:34, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
Yes, yes, I meant it more in a visual manner, the faint blue is awfully reminescent of Ritualist skills and skill icons. :) Plus the whole "enchanted weapon" fits more nicely. Truth is, we never actually had any hint as to the nature of Logan's skills. As for the armor, I wholly agree, Logan's armor alone in the book contradicts the armor mechanics known so far. -- KazDoran 22:24, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
Well, armor ratings are for professions, it doesn't matter what armor they wear anymore. I mean, this could be a ranger with a mace and chain for all we know. We simply do not know. - Lucian Shadowborn User Aios sig.png 00:01, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
i personally think that this blue mace woman aswell as logan thackery are a redesigned paragon. i think also there decision to change kieren thackery from a ranger to a paragon may be a nod to this. the paragon would suit the solider at the same time. just a thought anyway makes sense to me Arthas Shadowsong 04:25, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Elite Skill[edit]

AHHHHHH OMG THIS IS SOOO GONNA BE AN ELITE SKILL!!!! Sorry for my excitedness but I think that this is going to be an Elite Spirit Weapon! Fingers crossed!! Gregory The Avenger | Talk 00:04, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Wrong. The GW2G IRC Chat confirmed that you can in fact summon 3 weapons by just equipping all three skills, so they're definitely not a combined elite. --Naoroji User Naoroji Golem - Green.jpg 00:06, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
What Nao said. EiveTalk 00:16, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
Nao is correct, these will be actual toggle skills. Spirit Weapons. - Infinite - talk 12:50, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Ahh... I was just hoping that maybe.. WAIT then what would an elite skill look like? They sure are setting high standards just a bit. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gregory The Avenger (talkcontribs).

Elites are game changing, with several minute recharges. I would imagine if there was an elite spirit weapon it would be quite epic. EiveTalk 00:50, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
Dhuum Scythe - Guardian spirit weapon Elite skill - Instantly downs up to three targets and deals massive AoE + applies fear on all opponents in the area. 720s recharge (or till next botter appears). I want it. Bad. :D - Infinite - talk 15:09, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
Want. --User The Holy Dragons sig.pngThe Holy Dragons 15:16, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) It could actually be an elite skill, given that the title of the art has been revealed to be Judgment.-- Shew 01:06, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
