Evoker
“"Hello, friend."
Evocation has been a veiled tradition among norn shamans for centuries, but now the Spirit of the Wild are encouraging them to share their practice — to help the Spirits heal. Thus, Evokers summon elementally attuned animal familiars to aid them in battle and join them on their ventures.
— In-game description
Evoker is an elite specialization for the elementalist unlocked with the Visions of Eternity expansion.
These elemental specialists have rekindled connections with spiritual companions, calling upon familiars — the Fox, the Otter, the Hare, and the Toad — aligned with a specific element to join them in their travels. These familiars complement the evoker's abilities not just with additional meditations but with skills of their own, changing a basic attack charged with the evoker's weapon skills into an empowered ability after repeated use.[1][2][3]

Profession mechanic[edit]
“Drawing upon the forces of the natural world, the Evoker chooses a specialized element that will affect their traits and utility skills while reducing recharge time for the attunement skill of that element. The Evoker can then use that choice to call forth various elemental animal spirits: the fox, the otter, the hare, or the toad; these familiars bring their own skills, and once used three times, unlock their empowered skill.
The evoker's elite specialization Evocation mechanic revolves around management of the familiar.
- Players specialize into one of the four elements using the profession's skill bar F5.
- Specializing into an element grants the familiar companion and a familiar passive of the corresponding element. Only one familiar may be active at a time.
- When summoned, the familiar follows the character around and assists in combat. However, unlike other pets, they function more like turrets that cannot be attacked.
- Specializing also reduces the recharge time of the matching attunement skill, allowing you to swap back to that element more often.
Familiars have two skills: a basic skill and an empowered skill.
- Basic skills must be charged up to execute. To do so, the familiar must accumulate six charges.
- Each weapon skill that the player uses will grant one charge.
- Weapon skills of the same element as the familiar will grant two charges.
- Empowered skills will become active once the basic skill has been executed three times.

| F5 | ¼ | Familiar. Summon the toad at your location. The toad leaps up and slams the ground, knocking down enemies and creating a rocky barrier that enemies can't cross. Allies in the area gain protection. |

Lore[edit]
“Having toppled the powerful jotun civilization in the previous dragonrise, Jormag was poised to claim the Shiverpeaks and beyond when they awoke once again. However, as the dragon’s influence crept south of the mountainous crown, displacing the various kodan sanctuaries, it collided with the stalwart and courageous resolve of the norn and their ever-watching guides, the Spirits of Wild[sic].
Despite their resistance, Jormag’s campaign left lasting scars on many of the spirits, consuming or corrupting those that held the line. In the years since Jormag’s defeat, the norn have made strides to reconnect and commune with the spirits. Many now turn to old practices that harken to a time when the first pacts that entwined both groups in spiritual harmony were spoken—the centuries-old tradition of the evoker.
Drawing upon the forces of the natural world, these norn elementalists call upon spiritual companions and empower them with elemental energies. At the spirits’ behest, the norn have been encouraged to share this practice beyond their own to help restore and heal Tyria’s nature spirits.
