Champion farm

Champion farm is a farm consisting of killing champion foes with a group of players in a predetermined order. The intent of the farm is to quickly and safely acquire a large amount of champion loot bags, which is a lucrative way to make money. The process is safe and quick due to the large amount of players, and it requires little focus, due to its repetitive nature. Players will also often join champion farms to quickly earn daily and monthly achievements.

In order to ensure that players participating in a champion farm do enough damage to receive credit for the kill, they must make sure they get to the next stop quickly. This can be done by lowering graphical settings to lower the load times encountered while waypointing. Players can also form parties with other champion farmers, which lowers the threshold of required damage in order to receive credit.

List of popular champion farms[edit]

Frostgorge Sound[edit]

Because it is a high level zone and the champions are very difficult to kill by oneself or in a small group, the Frostgorge Sound champion farm is quite stable. It also earns money at a fast rate, but since only one champion is part of an event, and that champion is often skipped, it offers no karma and very little experience. Another consequence of there being no events is that the champions do not scale up, meaning they die faster and slower players are more likely to miss them.

The train/zerg rotation following the 15-April-2014 release is Wurm, then Drake, then Troll, and repeat until Trio (Fish, Kodan, Norn). The waypoints respectively are Dimotiki, Skyheight Steading, Earthshake and Drakkar. Joining a party will make it easier to follow the zerg through the rotation. Many players use Omnomberry Bars to increase the rate of Gold accumulation.

The new rotation is now Trio, Wurm, Troll, and the coil event.

Champion Loot bag Location Required event Directions
Champion Icebrood Fish Gilded Strongbox.pngGilded Strongbox Drakkar Spurs Defeat the three Drakkar Spurs champions Drakkar Waypoint
The fish spawns close to the waypoint, but then immediately starts swimming east.
Champion Icebrood Kodan Gilded Strongbox.pngGilded Strongbox Drakkar Spurs South of Fish, right next to the skill challenge, but immediately starts wandering southeast upon spawning.
Champion Icebrood Norn Gilded Strongbox.pngGilded Strongbox Drakkar Spurs South from Kodan, then north-west into the crevasse.
Champion Undersea Ice Wurm Fallen Adventurer's Backpack.pngFallen Adventurer's Backpack Dimotiki Waters Dimotiki Waypoint
Some servers will use the waypoint to get to the wurm, in which case it is due west of the waypoint, then straight down. Others will run to wurm instead, in which case it is southeast from Norn, past the renown NPC Worthy Burden and into the water. Waypointing to wurm is faster, but the cost of the waypoint adds up significantly over time. However, if most players use the waypoint, then anyone who chooses to run from Norn will miss it.
Champion Ice Drake Broodmother Gilded Strongbox.pngGilded Strongbox Leopard's Tail Valley Skyheight Steading Waypoint
Out the northeast exit, then north-northwest.
Champion Icebrood Quaggan Shell Pouch.pngShell Pouch Leopard's Tail Valley Destroy the champion icebrood quaggan The quaggan spawns at Claw Watch, then runs north to the area due east of the broodmother. It will only spawn once every three to four cycles, and players can tell when it will spawn soon, because they will see the event Rescue the quaggan from the Sons of Svanir taking place while on the way to broodmother. When this event is up, the quaggan will be spawned the next time broodmother is reached. Many servers will opt to skip quaggan because it is part of an event, and thus scaled up, meaning that it takes a long time to kill.
Champion Snow Troll Oversized Rucksack.pngOversized Rucksack Trionic Lattice Earthshake Waypoint
The troll is west-northwest of Earthshake waypoint. Players will need to jump across a crevasse, and it is common practice for mesmers to place portals to help players cross. Once across the crevasse, the troll is south-west. It guards a small chest which can be looted once per day. If players miss the jump and land at the bottom of the crevasse, they must run north, then curve southwest to make it to the troll's spawn point.

Cursed Shore[edit]

The Cursed Shore champion farm remains popular with players due to it being in a level 80 zone with events which can be easily chained together. It allows players to accumulate gold, karma and experience with minimal effort.

The run primarily consists of Escort Warmaster Jofast and her caravan to retake her camp and Secure Warmaster Jofast's Camp, the latter of which is deliberately failed. Players then teleport to Meddler's Waypoint to do Get Warmaster Chan to Shank Anchorage before the troops' morale breaks to spawn more champions. That is immediately followed by Hold the Pact position at Shank Anchorage against Risen attack, which is also failed. Downtime between these events can be spent killing the Champion Risen Megalodon and Captain Rotbeard or killing the Champion Risen Giant.

Blix Farm[edit]

Boss Blitz[edit]

Was part of the 20 May, 2014 update. This was the boss blitz in the crown pavilion in the Festival of the Four Winds Living Story event.

Notes[edit]

  • Post 20 May, 2014 update, most of the Champion-ranked foes in Queensdale have been turned into Veteran-ranked enemies, removing this Champion zerg route from the game.
  • Prior to the 15 April, 2014 update, a Champion Forest Spider was part of the Queensdale champion rotation. Afterwards, it was replaced with an Elite Forest Spider which is of no interest to champion farmers.
