[edit] No slot transfer

[edit] Map travel
Hi i dunno up i missed it anywhere but will there be instant travel like double click a town and u teleport there or has it not been mentioned yet? Best regards Richi2k7 06:50, 15 February 2008
- Hello. Yes, there will still be map travel in the game. It's been said in interviews that there isn't going to be any significant changes to the transportation system in Guild Wars 2. [edit] Suggestions
Hey i didn't really read all of thsi but please read, in gw 2 u should put in so that u can have your own trade, as in mining and smithing. or making bows. Also you should make it so that certain professions can wield certain weapons, instead of having it the way it is now. I really think if you do this it would attract WAY MORE players to the game. Alright thanx for your time, have a good day
- Yeah, let's take more old, WoW-like (using WoW cause it's the only thing on par, really) and add it to GW! Profession Specific items? Bah, kills a lot of things. For example a +5 Energy Spear/Sword/Axe, pulling with a Longbow, tremendous damage. ---

[edit] NO TRANSFERRABLE CHARACTERS!!! THATS UNPREFERABLE!!!!
Seriously i dont care if Guild Wars 2 is a completely seperate game or not i still want to run around tyria with a character that i have already leveled to 20 and want to level him to god knows what level! I mean come on, i dont want to have to run around and do missions with a brand new character that is only like level 10 and then have to level him up even more and run around and find some brand new freaking gear for him, i mean for christs sake! I really think that the developers would greatly benefit from allowing us to transfer our characters, otherwise they wont get any money out of me for guild wars 2. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Pookface (talk) .
- Is there a period in that? Anyways, Guild Wars, in comparison to other MMO's, is known for its storyline. Having 270 year old characters running around happy, hearty, and healthy doesn't make loads of sense. And ANet, I'm assuming, wants new people to be able to pick up GW2 and play without a disadvantage (or as little disadvantage as possible). Calor

- There are only commas in there. Imo, talking in CAPS is gay. I fully agree with Calor. Having a 270 yr old walking about is scary. ---

- wow I'd liek to have my mesmer in gw2, but instead i can create a similiar char with the same name, it's really not that hard to get to level 20 and get armor for it so I don't care that much --Cursed Angel

- You know...if you're not happy about that...you can always just not play GW2 at all and keep on playing GW1...Shew

Ok so as i agree with some of the things that were said about my article, i must say that you guys are looking at this way to literally. I know it would be creepy to have a 270 year old character in tyria would be kind of creepy im sure ANet can come up with some kind of story or extra add on that would allow us to revive or resurrect our old characters from GW1. Its not that hard people, all im trying to say is that i dont want to have to go back and level up a brand new character and find all this new gear for him, i just think that i would get bored doing that for a new character. And as for the comment about new players not wanting to be at a disadvantage, it would be no different if someone went out and bought GW1 now and started playing it. They would be at a disadvantage with all these level 20's running around. But seriously, i dont think anyone would feel as if they were at a disadvantage, it would just be like picking up WOW right now and playing it, except with GW you dont have to pay per month.--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Pookface (talk) .
- Then theres the fact we maynt even be able to keep our looks, skill,s attributes, even skills. ---

- A bridging mechanic between Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 could be built so Guild Wars character could go to Guild Wars 2, all Arenanet would have to do is have a system that recognises the look of your character and appoints the same, if not similar look for that Guild Wars 2 character. Additional storylines could be introduced for 'returning characters'. I would list about 3-5 ideas I have in my head to do this kind of thing, it is 100% possible but in the end is only limited by Arenanet, who doesn't want this to happen. Would be nice, but lets face it, Arenanet doesn't want to do it so its not going to happen. 203.173.235.24 03:10, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- No. It's a different game. You can't transfer WoW chars to GW, and can't transfer GW chars to GW2. Lord Belar 03:25, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

- What happens when you've already crossed your OGW character over to GW2, and you further advance your OGW character (new stuff, new titles, etc.)? Do the advancements reflect on your GW character? → BROWNSPANK 12:20, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Yeah that sucks that we cant use our old files. If only they allow it for speacil severs. Or after we beat the game that be sweat.
- I heard that GW2 was going to be quite a bit different from GW1, at least you get Hall of Monuments to transfer stuff, so it's not completely starting over new. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:208.117.81.202 (talk) .
- I think once more of how GW2 works is revealed, it should become pretty obvious to people why transferring characters from GW1 to GW2 wouldn't really be practical. -- 202.27.210.136 12:22, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Storyline
what will happen with storyline? what do they mean "smaller story arcs"? Plohek 11:14, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- In the Original Guild Wars games there was basically only one linear story which you could work you way through and the side quests were pretty ignorable for the most part. They're hoping to move instead to telling several smaller stories of equal importance. What this actually means, I don't know. Personally I hope they still include a way to complete the game through finishing the stories, the story made it stand out from the MMORPG crowd. --Aspectacle 20:38, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- Similar to the EotN storyline, I would assume. A few separate arcs all contributing to one overall plot. Calor
00:24, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yup, it could be like EotN. Maybe they'd like to take it even further - the idealistic press waffle was all about "building a world and adding stories to it rather than making a story and building a world to fit it" and "blah open blah sandbox environment blah blah". ...that information is so old. >_< --Aspectacle 02:52, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] LEVEL LIMIT
I think that guild wars has made a wise decision by keeping the levels low in the original guild wars but if they raise the levels very high in guild wars 2 i think that it could meant that guild wars may lose some players because it might become a little too similar to WoW and i enjoyed playing with people the same level as me and it was easy too level up and it wasn't a pain to do it. If guild wars raises the level cap to 100 or even unlimited they should rethink about how it will take role-playing characters a long time to reach pvp areas. Guild wars should raise the levels to maybe 35-40 but definitely not to 100 or unlimited because it would make the game less enjoyable. Another thing is if u can attack while you move it will take players who don't play WoW such as myself a long time to get used to the way the attack system works. Other than that I can't wait until the game comes out --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Pedro (talk) .
- Please sign comments by adding four tildes (~~~~) to the end. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe I saw somewhere (I think it was the PC gamer article) that even if the level cap is really high, leveling up will probably stop giving you benefits after a certain point. So they could have no level cap, but you don't get anything for getting past, say level 30 or 40. Levels past that would become something of a status symbol, like elite armor and titles. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 01:11, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- Some of the articles are a bit iffy on how level will work, but I think in general that a lot of guild wars fans are playing for the faster leveling/equipping, and don't want a traditional leveling RPG where we need to spend a lot of time killing stuff to successfully play in some areas. It does seem something worth keeping the developer's attention on. Tambora 22:06, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
I both agree and disagree. If we set a high lv limit we might be like the other mmo. If we have a unlimited lv limit it we would be in new frontier. The only mmo to do so and people will start buying this game because of this.
- (Probably a bit late response) They are going to raise the level cap, but as Wizardboy said, higher levels will give you less benefits, and after a certain point, you won't gain any benefits. There's also a sidekick system which makes your stats (attributes, health, armor etc.) the same level of a partymember or freind, which allows you to do dungeons and other areas you don't meet the requirements for. So while it does say it gives you a higher level, which promotes the game a bit, it isn't that much, which also promotes the game for the ones who don't like a high level cap. --Sir Bertrand 17:32, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
- Like what Wizardboy and Sir bertrand said basically. In regaurds to the PCG article, i'm fairly sure that was information from ANet, could be wrong but quite sure. PheNaxKian(T/c)

- I imagine a lvl 100 cap in this sense. It takes you noticably longer to get to it than it did for 1-20 in GW. Also, lvl 100 would be the strength cap. you would still be able to gain levels after that, but they would only give you say, a skill point. --Wolf 16:14, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with Wolf, a level 100 strength cap and gain levels higher would be a good idea as you can gain levels but you wont be stronger than others. I have noticed some peopel complainging it would take forever to get to lvl 100 to play PvP. Why not make certain level brackets like WoW did so everyone is in the same strength range as everyone else? Naruto Fox 14:50, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- In structured PvP, everyone will be max level and have UAX, even PvE characters. In world PvP, you can use a sidekick system to fight at the same level as your teammates, while you're actually a lower level. So in PvP there will be no problem at all with levels. --Sir Bertrand 17:41, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- I belive in the PC Gammer Article Anet said that a lvl 100 cap would take something like twice as long as 20. I hope 1-100 takes some work, but not the mmonths to a year or more like Wow. When I can pull 1-20 and first teir survivor in about 6 hours total gameplay (Factions) , thats a little fast.... It would be nice to actualy enjoy the level-up proccess and not just have it super rushed. I liked Proph in that repect in that it took some time to it 20, but no t a whole ton. I think 1-100 should take a good solid 20-30 hours of play, and would help me grow more attached to my characters as I developed them. Don't get me worng, there is something fun about havng a char set for the entire game with a few elites and 15k armor and everything awsome like that in 8 hours. --Wolf 14:42, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Private Party Districs would be nice...
I know they're going for the whole non-instanced areas, but I really love the instanced areas. I think it would be quite cool if they had Private Party Districts so you can have "Your Own Private Copy of the Game" while playing, people who like playing in non-instanced areas would still have the option to play in an open District. - If you get the Guild Wars CE, you could link it to your existing GW account. By the way, there is a planned developer update on the Hall of Monuments which should provide more details on GW1 / GW2 account linking, it was tentatively scheduled for publication last week, but it got pushed back by another developer update on the latest balance changes, I suspect the Hall of Monuments update will be published some time this week. -- Gordon Ecker 05:57, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

People diddn't spend long amounts of time and or money on Zodiac weapons.72.174.164.177 17:39, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Anything new?
Has there been anything new since last year? Screen shots? art? lore? Anything at all? Or just gw2 dead in the water? --Lou-Saydus
21:07, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- No - nothing. The Hall of Monuments announcement today is the first bit of news we've had for a while related to GW2 but there was little information there about GW2, you know? So it's been pretty much all quiet since May of last year. --Aspectacle 22:58, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Beta won't be coming out this year lol...they announced it on GW website.Probably 2009,fine by me,they will make a great game :).93.86.82.29 19:31, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
- There has been the addition of a Guild Wars 2 FAQ on the website. --Aspectacle 21:44, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
NEW ARTICLE - posted September 24, 2008 at massively.com. Doesn't say much, but does attempt to dispel some of the "vaporware" rumors about GW2. Tsafran 03:27, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Fight one person
Hay i thought of a good idia fo Guild Wars 2. Have u ever wanted to just fight only one person without haveing to invite them to a guild and meeting them in Guild Hall? Well I have and I would love it if ther was a PK mode or at least a PvP option next to their name. This way u can fight right there at that time and it ould make Guild Wars alot more fun!

[edit] New Prophesions?
quick and simple r u guys thinking about adding new prophetions? Well i though of this 1 porphetion called the Blademasters they use 2 swordwepoons (un nessasaraly the ones that wariers use acctualy perferably not! but for like a second hand wepon could b another sword) and they can have buffs taht increas attack power, defence power, or accuracy, and even critical hit ratio!!! but so theres no one that can use all and become the ultimate prophetion they sould have a cap on like 1 or 2 i call it preparation spells example: ~Quick Strikes~ Preparation spell. user's attack speed is incressed by 20...50%. This preparations spell permenetly ends if you use a spell. c????? good? i think so... and there primary profetions would be speed for each atrabut added you move 2% faster and another atrabute would be duel wielding you deal more damage for each rank here and htis is also the attack skills (they use adrenalin)and for 2 other atrabutes would b atrunement spells and well... um.......... erm... well i dont relay know wut could go there probably were healing moves would go... im not sure what you could name it but i would deal with healing and spells that make u.... i odnno all i got but i drew a pict of it and i dont know how 2 post picts on this so ya

- This talk page isn't really for suggestions, and we aren't ArenaNet -- we're just players. See gw1:ArenaNet:Guild Wars 2 suggestions on the Guild Wars Wiki for suggestion pages (although I think you may have already posted this there). By the way, you might want to get a spell-checker of some sort. --

[edit] Char Slots
any news how many we will have? as im sure you all remember we started with just 4 in gw prophecies -.-. Words 14:49, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
- No news. If there was, this article would be updated, don't ya think? ---
-- talkpage 15:59, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
- I see at the very top that char slots don't transfer over. It seems silly to me that they would reserve the name for all of our characters in the Hall of Monuments but they won't give us the slots to rebuild all of them -.- 24.7.220.254 05:31, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
[edit] endless nerfing with no value and not fixing real probs
Let us 1st introduce one of the most exasperating "features" of gw1. The micro management and marketing of every aspect in gw ad infinatum.
E.g. 1 - When one of the the new campaigns was released the rewards and treasure were adequate. Shortly after the drops were then decreased, assumedly because this was enough to stir sales. There is no "random drops" despite what they hype, and most of all drops are garbage anyway - at significant cost. Chests can spawn everywhere quite often in totally inaccessible places and also in places that can ruin the mission/bonus attempt meaning if it took 20 minutes to get a team that was not total loosers, + 30 minutes to accomplish the task at hand only to have a chest prevent access. Even if it happens once - if you have a normally busy day including driving through rush hour traffic, responsibilities after work or schoool that leaves a very small portion for entertainment. areanet/ncsoft ignoring " /bug <text>" calls to the problem and running into the problems again show a total lack of regard for an individuals time.
Some of the problems with the cheap reward system may be areanet/ncsofts perception of farming, bots, cheats, the "economy", whatever - I don't really care, that is not my problem if they can't develop better security or systems without impinging on game play and enjoyment. A good portion of players are not thoroughly experienced enough to really make objective calls on what should be acceptable for their gaming dollar and personal time and are being 'marketed', indoctrinated or bullied into a particular mindset. To have some "D" average, 15 year old student argue that the server time is free when you bring up the poor, poor response times and character DC's - you have to ask your self why should I even respond to such a narrow view of things.
E.g. 2 - level/character Developers/programmers have far too much freedom in the constant frittering around with skills and characters. Several classes - despite what balogny they insist on - are far too advantaged. Even the press has reported they are 'favorite classes' of the individual staffers of the developer and far too many have endured this disregard for the real balanced game play. This of course leads into the stupidity of the nerfing of other charcaters skills. My elite was recently nerfed in THREE ways all at once, nrg cost, effect distance, and dmg in pvp. While not all that strategic or debilitating the ability to drop some of these over powered characters at a distance was a good portion of the fun in playing - never killed them just a surprise drop and a second or 2 of slowing them down. Well,... whine, whine complain to many no-life loosers insisted it was unfair when the dmg was not even that significant but it did go a long way in really balancing the skewed characters skill system until for no reason they nerfed it.
I know that there are certain fixes required, updates and the occassional righting of some gross oversight on their part - but I grow very tired of having to go over builds again, seeking items or skills just to get on even footing. If you want real world 'inflation' or degradation or life experience get a job.
E.g. 3 - fan sites hawked by areanet/ncsoft are the most infantile sites I have ever come across are comprised of power hungry teens, mentally anyway, eager to pander to areanet/ncsoft tastes and are callous, disrespectful, mentally diminutive and meanspirited individuals clustering together to carthistically dump on any and all. gw insisting that any ideas and suggestions must go through these self-congratulating sites which is a cheap and inferior way to screen creativeness. Many on these sites will turn the issue away from the context by yelling that you can't spell or have words they don't understand, close threads, delete posts, etc etc. Well I guess if all you have is a hammer - everything looks like a nail. These are the people that should actually be learning from others.
E.g. 4 - hero system was changed earlier this year and despite many ensuring their awareness to the problem they continue to neglect it. Heros will stop at many various points throughout a map and refuse to use any skills, EVEN WHEN MANUALLY INVOKED!!! At the same time flagging them can be useless as they run well beyond the range most often into danger.
E.g. 5 - There are many minor bugs that persist with new ones being added almost daily. a) I have stacks of exactly the same items that will not stack on each other (been like this for 2 years), b) when targeting a character to a location with a mouse click, often there is some devious circuitous route they may follow that can more than double the distance they should have to go, c) about 6 months ago keyboard clicks, in particular, as well as mouse clicking quite often requires initiating the action more than once - such as picking up and item, casting a skill, etc (with 5 pcs' I have more than tested this out and is not due to pc's, interfaces, nor the high-speed ntwk [1mB up 10 mB down]) and may in fact be another "nerf" to make it more difficult for bots or whatever. This means it takes more than a click to do what use to take a single click and is unrelated to response time issues.
E.g. 6 - The number one situation that is growing ever more unacceptable is the useless servers. Skills in pve & pvp regularly take more than twice as long as documented to cast and in pvp makes game unplayable at times, but at the very least diminishes the enjoyment significantly. This has been traced specifically to the game providers h/w. It also seems a requirement to lose at least one party member every single mission in pve. This this is no fun. There is no excuse - you are either putting a game out there for sale for entertainment purposes and take responsibility for it or you are taking the money and running.
It would take some amount of convincing to show me this is not going to happen all over again with gw2. The reason for this list is if it ain't fixed, there are so many other demands on my resources than a failing franchise, that we will just move elsewhere. Do not respond with marketing hype and unsubstantiated claims. Get a clue and demand more value for your dollar and respect for your time. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.56.41.52 (talk • contribs) at 13:51, 20 September 2008 (UTC).
He does have a point they hardly fix glitches and bugs, not just skill bugs but also to do with graphics and so on, cant be bothered writting paragraphs like the guy above.
Whee, WoT?
1) Yes, they should fix the chests that get mission NPCs stuck on them. I doubt this shit will occur in GW2, tho. They might just /jump or something, since there's now a Z-Axis (well, that's what they say!).
2) Could you tell us which Elite? Most elites are nerfed because they are overpowered, so I guess yours was. There's always a reason it is nerfed/changed. Look further than RA, and check out what is considered important by ANet (or moreso Isaiah). These things are: HA, GvG. HA not that much, but if there's some insane skill running rampant (say, Cultist's Fervor?), it'll be nerfed. If there's some skill edging overpowered/plain overpowered it'll be adjusted to make it a reasonable skill (or it's nerfed to death ala Smiter's Boon. Ha ha).
2.2) If all the devs preferred Monk, Smiting would still suck many balls and get teabagged daily by Prot. Why? Because Smiting is supposed to suck. Armor ignoring damage shouldn't be strong because it's hardly prottable, thus powerful. That's why Conjures are not a separate packet anymore (RoF-killer kills RoFs. Swords wouldn't proc SBond thus they could easily get someone down unless it;s Infused. Good joke) and Strength of Honor has a recharge.
3) ...What? Really, I cannot figure out what you've been smoking there. It makes no sense at all >.>"
4) Then be better. My heroes function just fine. If they do not "respond" to forcecasts, you're probably lagging. That answer also goes for 5 and 6, really. When a skill takes "longer to cast" you're either SLOWED DOWN *sounds of impending doom*, or your connection isn't as steady as you claim it to be. If PvP is not possible for you because you plain and simple lagg, don't play. PvP is played daily by, what, thousands of people and they seem to do fine PBlocking me on 3/4 casts. Why? Because they have a steady connection and don't lagg as bad as you do (and have good reflexes, to boot). They won't bash a skill on luck in hopes they're PBlocking the Prot Monk, and Monks don't randomly Infuse cause they cannot see shit. They Infuse when they feel a target is being spiked. They notice that and respond properly, without having minutes of lagg like you. Even if you had a 10x better cable from your provider, the connection to ANet is what matters, not the connection you can theoretically attain with your cable. If a train has a max of 50 miles/h (just an example...), and the track can hold trains soaring 130 miles/h, would the train go 130 miles/h? No, because it just can't go faster than 50. The connection between you and ANet sucks and thus you lagg.
5.1) (5.2 is explained above if you didn't notice yet) Some items have been altered over the times, like Dyes. Old Dyes, which also have a different dye-effect, will not stack with the new dyes. Just use the old items first and you won't get multiple stacks of the item in question. Also, a Stack won't go beyond 250. Ever thought about that?
6.2) (6.1 is above) If one player drops per mission, it might be because you're lagging, thus being late to the party everytime and generally not being useful. Or the party en whole just is complete trash, thus people /ragequit. There's not much you can do about it, except just taking Heroes and Henchies (they don't suffer from Lagg nor do they suffer from a brain).
My conclusion is; Have a nice day. ---
