Sounds like it's time for that pesky little message up the top to finally go away. :) (Xu Davella 12:40, 28 February 2011 (UTC))
Wait the bugs are fixed now? Earlier today I still got SQL errors. Can't see what the problem is myself since the query is hidden =( Waar Kijk Je NaarUser Waar Kijk Je Naar sig.png 19:45, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Hey everyone, thanks for your feedback. Does the GW2W has a bug report page, like the GWWs? Thanks! --Stephane Lo Presti talk 19:48, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

It does. You can find it here (or go to the fifth bullet down from the search box).-- Shew 19:50, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
Great, thanks for the link Shew, couldn't find it via search (must be the Monday effect). --Stephane Lo Presti talk 19:53, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
No problem! Nice to see you on the wiki.-- Shew 20:00, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Thief leaks

Hi Stephane. We were wondering what to do about the thief information now that it appears ArenaNet didn't want that information released; see Talk:Thief#Leaked? for the discussion. Since the wiki has to abide by ArenaNet's licensing permission, and that permission states "You may also post content obtained from Guild Wars, its web sites, manuals and guides, concept art and renderings, press and fansite kits, and other such copyrighted material that ArenaNet has made available to the general public [sic], to the site", how should we deal with the leak? Does it need to be deleted or can it be kept?

On a semi-related note, User:Emily Diehl/Wiki discussions archive#Copyrights highlights some potential corrections that might need to be made to copyright notices on GW2W. There are also some inconsistencies between the notices (for example the "made available to the general public" part doesn't appear in Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Copyrights). pling User Pling sig.png 19:35, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

Until your response we have applied coding to hide content applicable. - Infinite - talk 19:41, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
By the way pling, I'm adding the copyright update to my todo list although this may take some time to sort out. In the future, I'll try to be more responsive in these tricky situations. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 16:36, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Here, this pretty much is the perfect place to state it. :) - Aios Wanna talk? 4:11, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

gw2w icon

When you say "whole" does that mean you don't want the dragon cut from behind the font, around the sides, or both of those areas? Thanks for all the feedback and help with facilitating. --Moto Saxon 00:41, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

Hey Saxon, yes it's my preference at the moment and it also greatly helps makes the "dragon 2" visible. Please let me know if you have any question about this. Thanks a lot to you for having created more than 6 candidate pictures! --Stephane Lo Presti talk 00:47, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
Lol, 6 sounds so excessive. We should get it narrowed down soon. Thanks again for the feed back :) --Moto Saxon 03:14, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
It doesn't really matter, but I'm going to tidy up the discussion tomorrow and attach version names (so your designs would be something like 3.1, 3.2, etc.) --Stephane Lo Presti talk 22:53, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
It seems like a handful of people are agreeing on candidate 11, but can't agree on the varying specifics (ei. red dragon or colored dragaon, brackets or no brackets, centered dragon or dragon on the right, shadowy background or colored profession background). If candidate 11 is the proffered logo then maybe voting on the specifics would be the next step. not sure. --Moto Saxon 03:25, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Why are you even talking here? Stephane is actively participating in that discussion on the community portal.. :/ poke | talk 09:39, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
There are several side conversations going on in various user:talk spaces concerning the icon. stuff that is user specific and not relevant to everyone. And I had a specific question for him. Secondly, he just said he was going to take some time to tidy up/reorganize the candidates, and out of courtesy of his time i suggested that that may not be needed, since candidate 11 has had a lot of support. Of course I am very great-full of his facilitation and input in the community portal, and I do apologize if I have been out of bound by posting here. I'll try to be more considerate in the future regarding talk spaces. --Moto Saxon 14:38, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Up to my last edit, it was a side-conversation poke, one that wouldn't benefit having in the main thread. Now back to the discussion. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 16:33, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

guildwars2 website

can the gw2wiki get a link on the main gw2 page? like how gw1's web page has a link to the guild wars1 wiki?-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 08:28, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

I think this has been discussed several times prior. Right now, I believe the general consensus is that there is no point linking to the wiki until the game comes out. Aqua (T|C) 20:40, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
can you link me to said discussions?---User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 22:30, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
I don't have such links at hand, however; linking to the wiki on the official site is not determined by us at all. It is up to ArenaNet to decide when and how the official wiki will be linked to. - Infinite - talk 22:36, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
I think that's diminishing our role a little - if we're ready for the wiki to be linked, we should say so and Arenanet would take that into consideration, just like with tech requests. pling User Pling sig.png 01:22, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
The last discussion I remember about this was with Emily in 2008. ANet didn't offered to announce it on the website yet, not until they had something to show off (which now clearly is the case, in contrast to the empty GW2 page back in 2008), but asked if we wanted it to be promoted in some other way. We, as the community, declined at that time. Given that the wiki has evolved a lot since that time, and the GW2 website features a lot of things already, I don't see a problem with having the GW2W promoted on the official website now.
Our actions during April Fools' Day showed that we are kind of ready for the open public, and we definitely have enough to show off about this game already; so I'm all for having this wiki officially promoted. poke | talk 11:14, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
What I meant with that is that we can inform ArenaNet that the wiki is ready enough to be linked to, but besides that, we have very little say in the matter of whether it would actually happen. I do agree with poke though, that we are at a stage where the wiki can be promoted on the official site and I would support a link. - Infinite - talk 12:45, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) "I agree that it's something we want to change. I'll add it to the (long) list of things I have to check.--Stephane Lo Presti talk 20:10, 7 April 2011 (UTC)" i think that kind of explains it all, i mean i think there is stuff anet wants to see changed on the wiki before it gets linked. like the logo, headbg.jpg, and the favicon.-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 21:08, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Your GWW news update

And in particular the GW2 feedback move suggestion. I don't think we have enough active admins here to keep the mass of possible edits and contributors in check, albeit the admin team may differentiate with me on this. Perhaps some new RFAs here would be required tied to said move prior to the actual move, to have plenty of active sysops about. - Infinite - talk 00:00, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

Understood, but the point of my post (and future posts on the various discussions) is to kickstart this process. ... and thanks for the feedback ^^ --Stephane Lo Presti talk 00:03, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
Of course, it is very much inevitable, this move (and start and expansion of the feedback here), so I am supportive on it. We're just a bit small to be jumping about the news. :)
I am sure it'll be fine. - Infinite - talk 00:08, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
tl;dr of what I think about it is partly covered in the feedback licensing discussion. I don't think we should copy over the license mess from GWW, when the feedback namespace there is running just fine and able to handle GW2 suggestions easily as well. At least until the licensing situation is cleared, I will continue to oppose any suggestion/feedback-related ideas on this wiki.
Regardless of that I do think that the admin team here would be easily able to handle it, as most of the admins are on “standby” here, and just waiting for more things to happen. poke | talk 17:43, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
The technical and license constraints behind the move indeed stop us from moving ahead with this. So unless something new shows up we'll put this particular topic on hold (I've updated my newspost to reflect this). --Stephane Lo Presti talk 17:48, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

making it that bit more confusing (sorry!)

Salut!

I see you're interested in learning our mystic ways... well, I've got two new tips for you, if you're interested.

1) Instead of my Guild Wars Wiki page, you can use my Guild Wars Wiki page

The two wikis are linked. It's exactly like Text, except for linking to the Guild Wars wiki.

2) It works both ways. So, on the other wiki, you can use gw2:User:Stephane Lo Presti to link to your user page on this wiki.

As with most other things, you can ignore these unless you think they will be helpful to you. You seemed interested in the Text method as it was shorter to type and thus faster, so I just thought I'd inform you of these little tricks since they're also quite short.

Character creation

Although I made a personal note for good measure after our IRC conversation, I will leave the question itself here as well;
"Is character creation really in the form of Race -> Gender -> Profession -> Appearance -> Biography -> Name? (As found on wiki.) Wouldn't it make make more sense (given the profession selection screen) that the steps for profession and appearance are actually swapped? As in appearance first, profession after? That's what the demos implied to me, but apparently people state otherwise. Some official word on this would be nice, if you have the permission to."
As mentioned, it would make a lot more sense if character appearance was decided upon prior to profession choice, due to the nature of character creation as seen in the demos (granted, demos are fullly subject to change). In the aspiration to simplify communication, as well as in an attempt to not lose this burning question in the daily chaos, I hope you don't mind if it remained here as well.
Whether the answer is allowed to be released before a blog post or not; I await your reply for whenever you are not as busy as you are this week. If the question is not answered prior to somewhere next week where I catch you on IRC, then I will pose it there. Whatever you'd prefer works for me.
Good luck and work hard, but as I said, don't over-work yourself for the GW-communities. One always performs best in moderation! Regards, Infinite - talk 20:05, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Icons wackiness

Life Leech is both a downed and a drowning (underwater-downed) skill for necros. As a downed skill, it uses File:Life Leech.jpg as its icon, but as a drowning skill, it uses File:Fetid Ground.jpg which is Fetid Ground's icon. Did the drowning version get the wrong icon, or did the downed version and Fetid Ground get switched?

And while I'm bothering you anyway, the "its" in the goggles option for the Engineer's biography question should really be "their". - Tanetris 21:58, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

Oh, and I suppose I should mention Your Turrets explode when self destructing. I assume that's more supposed to be the description rather than the name, though not sure if someone put it in the wrong field or you guys are using it as a placeholder until someone thinks up a snappy name. - Tanetris 22:39, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
Also also I forget if I told someone I crashed the demo when I was getting attacked by the Cursed Raptors up in the mountains, a little north of the eastern "thou shalt not pass" barrier. I was just moving around looking for an angle for a good pic of em, didn't even have my weapon out. - Tanetris 22:45, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
The description for Purify has the word "and" twice. I'm pretty sure. Pic's a little blurry to be 100% sure. - Tanetris 21:12, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

Because even CMs sometimes overlook things

I have moved many older images of yours (from the time we discussed which new wiki logo to implement) to follow user image formatting standards. I can't believe it took the wiki this long to take care of these moves. :P Anyway, they can be found in the following locations now:

Links to them have been fixed accordingly, so no further action is required on your end. :) - Infinite - talk 10:51, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

It wasn't overlooking these things, it was confidence that the wiki community would do it while I work on other things ;). MAny thanks for that Infinite ^^ --66.162.136.17 15:53, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

New Krytan

i was wondering if we could get the missing letters as seen on the New Krytan page ie: j,v,x,z thanks in advance.-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 23:28, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

As I'm not sure if we're going to use the alphabet (in-game or outside, and I'm not even sure if your deciphering is correct ;), I'd like to ask you to wait until closer to release to ask me this question again. Thanks ^^ --Stephane Lo Presti talk 23:38, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
lol i didn't decipher any of that i was just looking at the page and wanted to use the new krytan on sigs and stuff. thanks anyway!-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 23:53, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
@Zes Perhaps the letters just don't exist. Not every language contains 26 characters. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 17:10, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
@Venom: New Krytan is (or at least appears to be) a cipher, so it should have the same amount of letters as English. Konig/talk 18:42, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
It could very well be a straight cipher of some letters in the english language (and thus far has been), but since the language is a fabrication, certain letters may not have been needed (ie Z). Therefore, I'm just saying that the relationship of "english:newkrytan" may not in fact be 1:1 (or 26:26). Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 03:16, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
