Hey![edit]

Welcome to the Wiki even though you've been here since 2007! Yay! --Naoroji User Naoroji Golem - Green.jpg 21:46, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Whether or not this is an automated response (and if it is NOT an automated response, sorry :P), I thank thee much. -- Qubicneter 21:54, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Trust me, hes not automated. You're lucky, took him two weeks to say hello to me after I made my userpage and talk.--Corsair@Yarrr 21:58, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Silly Qubicneter, we don't do automated responses here! Thrain contribs 21:59, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Aha, sorry then. My talk page was never used in the GWW, so I didn't know :P All of you have my thanks. -- Qubicneter 22:03, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Aaawh, did I make you jealous, Corsair-ie-wairy? =3 --Naoroji User Naoroji Golem - Green.jpg 22:23, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Nope, just be careful around seaports now, Asura are small and barrels are heavy. ^.^--Corsair@Yarrr 22:54, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Welcome welcome welcome welcome!!!! ^_^ I have high hopes that we will someday be friends! Have a super day, and if you need anything or have any questions, feel completely free to ask me! :) --AmannelleUser Amannelle Me.jpg 00:44, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
Aye, I will! So much friendliness xD almost overwhelming. I'm curious: what is there to do on this wiki at the moment? -- Qubicneter 01:00, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
Well, at the moment there isn't a WHOLE lot to document, but we occasionally get flurries of information. :) If you haven't yet, check out the screenshots, the renders, and the concept art in case you've missed anything. Also, if you like speculating or think you're good at putting 2 + a together and getting 4, then I suggest checking out some talk pages for articles, such as professions reveal, purple fan, mace woman, or home instance. :D Enjoy! We hope you have a great time here, and I look forward to chatting again! ^_^ --AmannelleUser Amannelle Me.jpg 01:18, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) About every Wednesday we get a flood of information, read, document, and update! Every 2 weeks its larger than in the middle Wednesday. Other than that, we have categorizing and basic page matinense.--Corsair@Yarrr 01:41, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Maintenance* yes, we do. Corsair and Amannelle are right on all accounts ;). And if you ever need some help, just ask. --Naoroji User Naoroji Golem - Green.jpg 10:05, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Seqinolism[edit]

I ehm,... Noticed an oversight? :P --Naoroji User Naoroji Golem - Green.jpg 09:17, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Maguuma Jungle[edit]

Hey, just checked on the login screen, and Dry Top is not actually considered a part of the Maguuma Jungle (there is a lengthy and super fun about this discussion here), making it a part of the first new "region" in the game! There is also a new "Regions" achievement category, but the only subcategory is Dry Top. On a more lore-oriented note, the Maguuma Wastes, Tarnished Coast, and Magus Falls are all distinct. Although labelled as the Maguuma Jungle for the purposes of explorer achievements etc., Brisban Wildlands, Metrica Province, and Caledon Forest are part of the Tarnished Coast in lore. Bear in mind that Mount Maelstrom is also considered part of the Maguuma, even though it is at the other side of the world.

I don't know for sure, but I'd guess that Dry Top is considered part of the Maguuma Wastes, both in mechanics and lore (a rare example of where they agree, when this sort of thing is concerned). There's a bit in Disturbance in Brisban Wildlands when you ask Corporal Jantzen what's out beyond Tangle Root, and he says "The Maguuma Wastes. Other than that, who knows? The Orrian flooding could have changed the entire landscape.". I also recall a piece of dialogue by Marjory or Kasmeer that says that we're heading toward the Maguuma Jungle, suggesting that Brisban Wildlands is not considered a part of that. I realize that it's rather confusing as well, and I certainly jumped the gun. I'm glad that Dry Top was added to a page at least, instead of not being linked to in any of those region articles at all. It is kinda weird how Anet is categorizing Maguuma, as it's not entirely clear even after doing all of these Living Story instances how the lore and in-game mechanics line up. If we're going off of GW1, then the whole area is the Jungle, but in GW2 it has been shattered into little pieces. It seems as though there's no clear answer, and I am personally satisfied with how things are categorized now. Glad you took time out of your editing to communicate! Qubicneter (talk) 00:36, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, the lore and in-game mechanics don't line up at all. I think it was just so they'd have five regions at launch with roughly the same number of areas, rather than more regions with fewer zones in each one. That said, I noticed that my character in Metrica Province now has a different background on the login screen to the one in Mount Maelstrom, so it could be that they're making a distinction between the Tarnished Coast and Steamspur Mountains now, which would be welcome. Santax (talk · contribs) 11:41, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
What's interesting to note is that Sparkfly Swamp is considered a region of the Tarnished Coast (so is Verdant Cascades), which sets a precedent for the two regions being linked instead of being in the Steamspur Mountains. (Also, this was probably just to link those two areas as being under asuran jurisdiction in relation to gaining reputation.) Of course, in GW2, the Tarnished Coast is considered part of the Maguuma Jungle, and up until now the Wastes have been 'part' of the Jungle as well. And, as you pointed out, having five regions with similar numbers of areas seems to have been their goal. Hope they can clear this all up for us at some point. quartz crystal in Dry Top[edit]

It's correct, I mined 2 of them last night. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 01:46, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

Excellent, I added correct information this time then xD Qubicneter (talk) 02:13, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

"Forgotten -> forgotten"[edit]

Technically all in-game text calls them "Forgotten" - capitalized. Since Anet makes it a habit to ensure race names are lowercase, it's likely this is fully intentional. They do the same with the Seers. This is most likely because the terms Forgotten and Seer are not the actual race's names, but terms used to refer to the races. So your recent changes should be reverted. Konig 15:59, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

Ah okay interesting...I looked at the Forgotten article and it had the changes to lowercase already in place so I assumed that it was being treated as the name of the race. In retrospect, Forgotten and Seers are more like descriptions of the races rather than names like mursaat or jotun. It's all very confusing for those early races. Thanks for pointing that out Qubicneter (talk - contribs) 16:30, 12 October 2015 (UTC)
