deos tihs mkae snese?[edit]

somehow, when i saw your user name in stead of reading "chadarian" i read "chardian" and now i want to name my charr gardian charrdian. youmindifido? --Moto Saxon 21:16, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

I lol'ed --Till 21:24, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
"Questions doesn't have to make sense, but answers do." Good idea! I'm thoroughly satisfied with my both my guardian and my charr's name so I don't mind at all. Even if it wasn't my text that did it I'm glad I inspired you in some way. Btw, do you know if there's some limit on the size your userpage can be? (I feel that mine is getting pretty big) Chad 21:25, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
Sweet ty! as far as size goes. there is no limit, but lots of data can slow down ppls browsing. alternatively you could consider creating a character page with sub pages...which also might be easier to read and navigate then a lot of excess on one page. --Moto Saxon 21:32, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
The page doesn't look as good (in my eyes) as it did when there was less text. Subpages sounds like a good idea, thank you! Chad 21:37, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
Oh la la, that looks nice. --Moto Saxon 22:27, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Birth date[edit]

you just had to beat me didn't you? :P --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 21:44, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Oh yes, having my birthday one day before you is one of my greatest achievements :P Chad 22:53, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
Happy B-day to you my nemesis^^ --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 06:55, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
Thank you! :) I'm going away over the weekend so just leave your presents here and maybe you'll get cake (it's not a lie!) when I get back. Chad 11:45, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Huh?[edit]

How can a character be charming and nervous? :D Or is the nervousness related to their work with machinery and/or inventions only? Short-temperance and perfectionism also sound very contradictory traits for one persona, but I don't say it's impossible at all (I can hardly believe that I am engaged to such a person myself). :) Mediggo 10:29, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

Now that you mention it I don't think I thought my engineer's personality through properly. Yeah, the nervousness is work related. But I also imagine her as an amiable person (thus charming), always ready with a kind word, but insecure when things get serious. Maybe dignity might suit her, but I find it harder to combine dignity and nervousness. As for the short-tempered perfectionist you could say that is work related as well: She wants to be the best at what she does, so that if anything goes wrong the blame does not fall on her. Actually she thinks she is the best, so she has little patience for other people. She also gets angry at people for getting into trouble which she has to pull them out of, which on the other hand is what a guardian is all about so maybe that's a bit contradictory. Chad 09:02, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
Yes, it is a bit contradictory, but not too much. After all, she does get them out of trouble, right? And since you can essentially create your own personality, it doesn't really matter what kind of personality trait your character starts with – they can become whatever they/you want. Maybe diplomatic would be what you want? A personality lacking ferocity could become insecure in face of trouble, I guess. Mediggo 07:05, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
I tried out the last professions during the stress test, so now I know how they all feel. This made me rearranged the classes a bit (Gu->Ne, Ne->Me, Me->Gu), but I still think of Morga as the one who has to get people out of trouble, despite now being a necro. The new guardian is more of an egoist who defends people because it makes him feel superior. Good point about the personality; the icon is just the general direction. I'm in two minds about my engineer: Either she's insecure, nervous and a bit geeky (not ideal hero material, but hey, this is my story :P). The other idea is that she's reckless and a bit "Let's give it a try, what could possibly go wrong?". Chad 10:55, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
Instead of throwing a personal trait out of the window, you could always have your character evolve via a (back)story. Even as game characters, stagnant ones end up more uninteresting. For instance, my rather cynical but helpful thief used to be a more light-hearted bard. I (personally) can't see how a nervous character could become reckless, though I can figure quite a few reasons how it could happen the other way around – but none of them are very fun events. :P And that could result in a character that might become "sad" to play. I embrace the values/personality of my characters pretty deeply, even if I'm not actually roleplaying them or anything. Mediggo 07:29, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
I've never really felt in-character while playing GW1, but I'm expecting I will for GW2 (due to the choices you have to make during your storyline). Regardless if I do this "roleplaying" or not I still want my characters to be just that, characters. Even if it's only in my mind. That's why I've (so far) given each character a distinct personality. I agree that an evolving personality is more interesting, but that depends on if I'll ever get around to write everyone a story I'm satisfied with :P Chad 20:09, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

thanks[edit]

I want to thank you for all your work updating the skill/trait lists on all the effect pages. I tend to not think about that very much when I'm making the updates to skills and traits, so it's good to know you're around to handle the fallout. :) —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 12:35, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

No problem, I just dislike inconsistencies :P Also, it's so much easier to experiment with builds when everything is properly cross-referenced. You're doing an amazing job yourself, updating all the skills/traits every time there's a stress test. Thank you. Chad 12:50, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

Curiousity killed the charr[edit]

Hey Chadarian, I was wondering if you still had the intention to join Dirge Warband. I know it's been over a year ago since I formed it, but I only just today had it restored to my account. Either way, I hope to see you in-game. :) - Infinite - talk 12:00, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

I'm still interested; go ahead and add me (you'll find my character names on the userpage). I'm at the Gunnar's Hold server and unlikely to move (got another guild stationed there), but we'll see each other once they get guesting to work. Chad 15:55, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
