So MMO with a controller makes pretty much no sense to a lot of people, but for me it’s a whole lot better with one. This is meant for people who are curious about or already trying to play GW2 with a controller. I made a layout in xpadder and used a wired 360 controller to play which worked out quite well. I will describe the layout below and attach a link to the xpadder profile so people can download it and try it out if they want.

Note: Xpadder 5.3 is freeware, the most recent version costs $10. Xpadder 5.3 will be plenty for this use. Remember to set it to run in compatibility mode if using windows 7.


The Layout[edit]

Left Stick – W,A,S,D (movement)

Left Stick Click – Left Click

Right Stick – Camera Control / Mouse Control

Right Stick Click – Switches Camera/Mouse Control

Left Bumper – Tab (select nearby enemies)

Right Trigger - V (dodge)


A – Jump (space)

X,Y,B – 1,2,3 (primary weapon skills)

D-pad – 6,7,8,9 (utility skills)


Back – / (PTT)

Start – F (interact)


Then things get a little more complicated…

Hold Left Trigger and:

X,Y – 4,5 (secondary weapon skills)

B - 0 (elite skill)


Hold Right Bumper and:

X,Y,B,A – F1,F2,F3,F4

Back - M (Map)
