Walkthrough[edit]

Once you reach level 10, check the mail interface for your new message and then go back to the Hero's Canton—your home instance—in the Black Citadel.

Report to Tribune Desertgrave; be ready for a fight against Flame Legion Assassins after the cinematic. If you fight the assassins outside the tent then you will receive help from the guards (even if they go down pretty quickly) and have more room to manoeuvre. Another cinematic will start when the last assassin has been killed.

After the dialogue, travel to Canton Factorium in the northwestern part of the Citadel. When ready, enter the instanced version of the area where you'll meet Sicaea the Shrouded. Follow her inside the tavern and talk to the Suspicious Charr, Shady Charr, and so on, to find the Flame Legion spies and make them go out of the tavern.

Fengar Cruelmane, aide-de-camp to Tribune Torga Desertgrave of the Ash Legion

URGENT: Report to Your Barracks

I regret to inform you, on behalf of Tribune Torga Desertgrave, that your warband suffered heavy casualties during the recent defense of the Smokestead. While the tribune considers your performance during the engagement to have been exemplary, the tragic losses to your ranks necessitate some consideration of your future with the Ash Legion. Tribute Desertgrave requests that you meet her in the Black Citadel to discuss the matter.

—Fengar Cruelmane

At Hero's Canton[edit]

Entering the instance:

Clawspur: At least you made it. I think we're the only ones left.
Clawspur: Near as I can tell, everybody's at some kind of briefing at the Mustering Grounds.
Dinky: You made it. But I think we're the only two left.
Dinky: Everybody's at some kind of briefing at the Mustering Grounds.
Euryale: At least you made it. I think we're the only ones left.
Euryale: Near as I can tell, everybody's at some kind of briefing at the Mustering Grounds.
Maverick: We're the only ones left I think. Lucky we made it out.
Maverick: Near as I can tell, everybody's at some kind of briefing at the Mustering Grounds.
Reeva: At least you made it. I think we're the only ones left.
Reeva: Near as I can tell, everybody's at some kind of briefing at the Mustering Grounds.

Talking to your sparring partner:

Clawspur: I knew you'd make it. You've always been the best of us. But I'll miss'em the others.
Talk more option tango.png Dinky. Euryale. Reeva and Maverick. What happened to us out there?
After you went in, the brass split us up. Different objectives. Our friends were cut down like wheat. I got to higher ground.
Talk back option tango.png I've got another question.
Sure. What now?
(Offers same three dialogue options as original box)
Talk end option tango.png Never mind. Let's go talk to the tribune.
Talk end option tango.png Thanks for the info.
Talk more option tango.png What about Howl? He was our warband's lieutenant. Did he die, too?
Nobody knows. Howl was in the crypts when Barradin collapsed'em. You dug out. He didn't.
Talk more option tango.png Nobody? Nothing at all?
Not unless that trinket he'd found magically teleported him to the Shiverpeaks. He's rubble.
Talk back option tango.png I've got another question.
Talk end option tango.png Thanks for the info.
Talk back option tango.png I've got another question.
Talk end option tango.png Thanks for the info, Clawspur.
Talk more option tango.png What do you know about Tribune Desertgrave?
She and Makk the Silent are the two Ash Legion tribunes assigned to help the Iron Legion retake these lands. Torga's got seniority, so she's our legion's final authority in Ascalon.
Talk back option tango.png I've got another question for you.
Talk end option tango.png Thanks for the info, Clawspur.
Talk end option tango.png We're to report to Tribune Desertgrave. Let's get a move on.
Dinky: Empty bunks. Empty rooms. Why'd they all have to die? Didn't they like it here anymore?
Talk more option tango.png Clawspur. Euryale. Reeva and Maverick. What happened to us out there?
After you went in, the brass split us up. I saw the others die. I'm going to miss them, <Character name>. You'll stay with me, though. Right?
Talk end option tango.png Let's move out.
Talk more option tango.png What about Howl? He was our warband's lieutenant. Did he die, too?
I forgot about Howl! Oh, wow. I bet the rocks got him! He was in the crypt when it crumbled and sunk. Yup, rocks got him, or he'd be back by now.
Talk more option tango.png What do you mean, "the rocks got him"?
When that big ghost died, the whole catacomb crumbled. Anything inside it was pre-buried. That sucks. He was going to give me that shiny amulet thing he found when he died, too. He promised.
Talk end option tango.png Let's move out.

Talk end option tango.png We're to report to Tribune Desertgrave. Let's get a move on.
Euryale: I tried to see the tribune, but that whiny little aide-de-camp of hers wouldn't let me pass until you got here. I should go pound him 'til he stops saying "stop."
Talk more option tango.png Dinky, Clawspur, Reeva and Maverick. What happened to us out there?
After you went on, some stupid, self-absorbed dolyak-face of a centurion split us up. Dinky went down first, then Reeva was surrounded. I tried to help, but I was...too late.
Talk back option tango.png I need to ask you another question.
Sure. I'll try to calm down and give you a straight answer.' (Offers same dialogue options as original box)
Talk end option tango.png Let's move out.
Talk more option tango.png What about Howl? He was our warband's lieutenant. Did he die, too?
Howl? Lost in the fighting, when the crypt went down. Caved right in on him. Bravest of us all. Or the stupidest. Sometimes they're the same.
Talk more option tango.png Lost? Didn't they recover the body?
Nope, nothing. Not even that shiny rock he was always playing with. You remember that one? Lost it to me in our card game, and wouldn't give it up. Stinker.
Talk back option tango.png I need to ask you another question. (Same as above)
Talk end option tango.png Let's move out.

Talk end option tango.png We're to report to Tribune Desertgrave. Let's get a move on.
Maverick: So many in our warband killed. I tried to tell them, "Watch me. Fight like me. Be like me." I guess it just wasn't enough.
Talk more option tango.png Dinky, Clawspur, Reeva and Maverick. What happened to us out there?
Tactics went all wrong. I told you I should have been legionnaire. We were split up, and it got them all killed. There's only one of me, you know? I can't be everywhere.
Talk back option tango.png I've got another question for you.
Hey, I'm all ears. Handsome, well-brushed ears. (Offers same dialogue options as original box)
Talk end option tango.png Let's move out.
Talk more option tango.png What about Howl? He was our warband's lieutenant. Did he die, too?
Howl? Lost in the fighting, just like the others. I saw him charging into the crypt like a madman-but he never came out. Then the whole thing collapsed. Good way to go, really.
Talk more option tango.png Collapsed? He was trapped in there?
"Trapped" would imply he lived. He didn't. I imagine he's in the Mists now, looking down on us, wearing that crazy amulet he loved, and laughing at us.
Talk back option tango.png I've got another question for you. (Same as above)

Reeva: You're here! You're all right! I was so scared. Now that you're back, I feel like I can almost go on. But what do we do without the others?
Talk more option tango.png Dinky. Euryale. Clawspur and Maverick. What happened to us out there?
We were too spread out, and ghosts were everywhere. We couldn't handle it. The others... When we saw what was happening, Euryale told me to run. The last thing I saw was the ghosts cutting her down.
Talk back option tango.png I've got another question, if that's okay.
It's okay. I can handle it. Go ahead and ask. (Offers same dialogue options as original box)
Talk end option tango.png Let's move out.
Talk more option tango.png What about Howl? He was our warband's Lieutenant. Did he die, too?
Oh, poor Howl. What happened to him was the worst of all. After you defeated the big ghost, the whole crypt collapsed--with Howl inside it. I tried to dig for him, but it was no use.
Talk more option tango.png He was buried by the rubble? There's no chance he got out, like I did?
I wish, but no. The collapse was too bad. I kept hoping that silly good luck charm he had would save him, but in the end I guess it really was no more than a shiny piece of glass.
Talk back option tango.png I've got another question, if that's okay? (same as above)

Talk end option tango.png Never mind. Let's report to the tribune.

Talking to Fengar Cruelmane before talking to Torga:

Fengar Cruelmane: Tribune Desertgrave is waiting, <Character name>. Better hustle, sir.
Talk more option tango.png Why aren't we at the Mustering Grounds with everyone else?
The tribune asked to meet you in private after alll[sic] the others have gone. Must be something important. I wouldn't keep her waiting.
Talk end option tango.png I'm on my way.
Talk end option tango.png On my way.

Talking to Tribune Torga Desertgrave:

Tribune Torga Desertgrave: At ease, soldier. Damn shame that the battle at Smokestead nearly wiped out your warband. Without you, Barradin would be stomping our skulls by now.
<Character name>: Yes, Tribune. I owe my survival to Rytlock Brimstone. He held the line until reinforcements came to take out the duke.
Tribune Torga Desertgrave: True. Still, Legionnaire Howl was lost in the fighting, so your warband needs a new leader. Congratulations. You're promoted to legionnaire.
<Character name>: Thank you, Tribune. I'm ready for duty.
Tribune Torga Desertgrave: I have an operation for you. We have intel that the Flame Legion has infiltrated the citadel. Their spies—
Fengar Cruelmane: Excuse the interruption, Tribune! We have hostiles incoming. Ready for battle! Guard Tribune Desertgrave!
Fengar Cruelmane: Blades out! We're under attack!

After the ambush:

Tribune Torga Desertgrave: Well done, Legionnaire, you're already proving your worth. As for you, Fengar—do you really need to go back to the fahrar and relearn basic perimeter security?
Fengar Cruelmane: The sentries won't mess up again now that they're dead and... uh... I'll get new ones.
<Character name>: You're lucky I was here, Fengar. The real question is: was this an attack of opportunity, or is the Flame Legion planning something?
Tribune Torga Desertgrave: They know we're onto them. Those miserable Flame rats; all they did was verify our intel. Their blunder's our chance.
Tribune Torga Desertgrave: Here's your mission, Legionnaire. Go to the Serrated Blade tavern and ask about Black Citadel brandy. Your contact will say, "The barkeep waters it down.
Tribune Torga Desertgrave: I'm told some Flame sympathizers spend their time there. Discover who they are, and find something I can use to derail their plans. Questions?
<Character name>: None. I'll be quick and quiet, Tribune.

Talking to sparring partner before leaving the instance:

Clawspur: So, we're running surveillance. You're point; I'm backup. Just like old times.
Talk more option tango.png I need to ask you a couple of questions before we move out.
Sure. What now? (Same as previous dialogue)
Talk end option tango.png Hmm. Never mind. I'll meet you near the Serrated Blade.
Talk end option tango.png You got it. Let's get a move on.
Dinky: You're calling the shots now. Let's go spy on some Flame Legion.
Talk more option tango.png I need to ask you something first.
Yeah. Go ahead. I'll try really hard to remember more. (Same as previous dialogue)
Talk end option tango.png You got it. Let's move out.
Euryale: I'm glad they made you boss. You deserve it. Now I get to watch your back while we trail some Flame Legion jerks? I like where this is going.
Talk more option tango.png I need to ask you a few questions first.
Sure. I'll try to calm down and give you a straight answer. (Same as previous dialogue)
Talk end option tango.png Likewise. Let's move out.
Maverick: Now we're getting somewhere. Howl was a great braggart, but a lousy leader. With you in charge, we'll rebuild this warband in no time.
Talk more option tango.png Lemme ask you a few question first.
Hey, I'm all ears. Handsome, well-brushed ears. (Same as previous dialogue)
Talk end option tango.png Keep your mind on the assignement, Mav. Let's move out.
Reeva: Congratulations on the promotion! I say we celebrate, then go kill something in battle, then bake a nice red velvet cake with white icing. Yay!
Talk more option tango.png I need to ask you a few questions first.
It's okay. I can handle it. Go ahead and ask. (Same as previous dialogue)
Talk end option tango.png Never mind. I'll meet you near the Serrated Blade.
Talk end option tango.png First, we complete our assignment at the Serrated Blade. Then, cake. Gotta keep our priorities straight.

Talking to other allies Hero's Canton:

Fengar Cruelmane: I can't believe I'm stuck here shuffling papers while the Flame Legion causes so much trouble. When do I get to be a real spy?
Talk more option tango.png The Flame Legion don't know when to quit.
Don't get me started. They want to enslave Ash, Blood, and Iron again, just like centuries ago, but they forget that we broke free back then and won't stop fighting now. I don't care if they ARE the fourth legion. They're going down.
Talk more option tango.png ''And how about that namby-pamby god they worship?
You'd think they'd give up, after it all went wrong way back when. Though, I have to admit: they're powerful magic-users, and their imperator is mighty. The Flame Legion's dangerous—nothing to sneeze at.
Talk end option tango.png Don't worry, Fengar. I'm always alert in Flame Legion territory. See you soon.
Talk more option tango.png How'd these assassins get into the Black Citadel?
Don't know yet, but the tribune's got her best soldiers on it. The agent at the Serrated Blade will tell you more.
Talk end option tango.png On my way.
Talk end option tango.png Don't worry. You'll have your chance one day.
Tribune Torga Desertgrave: My agent outside the Serrated Blade can give you details. Stop wasting time, and get out there.
Talk more option tango.png I've got a question, Tribune, if I may?
Ask, but be quick about it.
Ferocity Someone screwed up at the battle of Smokestead, and a lot of my warband died. I want revenge.
Those responsible for the losses at the Battle of Smokestead will be dealt with, I promise you. Your mission is handling the Flame Legion incursions. Do your job.
Talk back option tango.png Understood. I'd like to ask you something else, Tribune?
Talk end option tango.png Thank you, Tribune. We'll head out now.
Dignity That attack-how did the Flame Legion know you'd be here?
It's hard to keep your movements quiet when you're a tribune. It's likely someone saw me arrive while the rest of the troops were heading to muster, and Flame made an attack of opportunity. It's happened before.
Talk back option tango.png Understood. I'd like to ask you something else, Tribune?
Talk end option tango.png Thank you, Tribune. We'll head out now.
Talk more option tango.png You really hate the Flame Legion, don't you.
Old enemies. Those murderous, chauvinistic zealots. They've been active lately, aggressively recruiting disgruntled Blood warbands, trying to steal key schematics from Iron, and now this. They're planning something. Your job is to find out what it is, Legionnaire.
Talk back option tango.png Understood. I'd like to ask you something else, Tribune.
Talk end option tango.png Understood. We'll head out now.
Talk more option tango.png How should I proceed with the mission?
You take point, while your subordinate acts as backup. Follow my agent's lead. She'll tell you more when you get to the Serrated Blade.
Talk back option tango.png Understood. I'd like to ask you something else.
Talk end option tango.png Understood, Tribune. We'll move out now.
Talk end option tango.png Understood, Tribune. We'll move out now.

At Serrated Blade Tavern[edit]

Entering the instance:

<Sparring partner> salutes <Character name>.
Clawspur: Let's get started.
Euryale: We're here.
Maverick: Let's get started.
Reeva: Let's get started.

Talking to your sparring partner:

Clawspur: Okay. I'll hide nearby. If I see if[sic] trouble, I'll head in.
Talk end option tango.png Skulking is what you do best. Still, be careful.
Dinky: Woohoo! It's sneaking time! What?
Talk end option tango.png Your enthusiasm's good, but the volume is bad. Just be careful
Euryale: I'll be hiding over there. One sign of trouble and I'll hose this place down with damage.
Talk end option tango.png Sounds good. Be careful.
Maverick: It's smart for you to be the one hiding. I don't think even Sicaea's skill could keep people from looking at my handsome face.
Talk end option tango.png You're a pillar of humility, Maverick.
Reeva: You're sure you'll be okay? Really, really sure? After what happened in Smokestead, I hate being separated.
Talk end option tango.png That's the right idea, but I'll be with Sicaea. Stay hidden, and everything will be fine.

Talking to Sicaea:

<Character name>: You there, scrapper. This place have Black Citadel brandy?
Sicaea the Shrouded: Sure. But between you and me...the bartender waters it down.
<Character name>: Around here? I'm surprised he's still alive to do business. Speaking of business...Desertgrave sent me.
Sicaea the Shrouded: I've identified two Flame Legion spies inside the tavern. They have the password we need, but we can't attack them inside without starting a free-for-all.
Sicaea the Shrouded: If that happens, the spies will use the chaos to make the escape and we'll lose them for good. Ideas?
<Character name>: Hm. I could encourage them to leave now, and without causing a scene.
Sicaea the Shrouded: Really? Well, lead on. I want to see this.

Talking to your sparring partner before he/she leaves:

Clawspur: Do I know you? You should keep moving, stranger.
Talk end option tango.png What? Oh! Of course. My mistake.
Dinky: Oh, boss! Sorry. There was this ladybug, see, and I was... No, no problem. I'm on it now. Promise!
Talk end option tango.png Stay on task, Dinky. I need you ready.
Euryale: Isn't talking to me a little against that whole "hiding" plan, boss?
Talk end option tango.png Whoops! My mistake.
Maverick: I know I'm hard to ignore, boss, but you don't know me. Right?
Talk end option tango.png Whoops! Right.
Reeva: What's wrong? Are we abandoning the mission?
Talk end option tango.png Oh! No, it's still on. I'll get back to the mission.

Entering the Serrated Blade:

Sicaea the Shrouded: I'm right behind you. Show me what you can do.
Drunken Charr Soldier: Barkeep! More ale! And maybe some whiskey! And hurry up.
Bartender: Welcome to the Serrated Blade. If you cause trouble in here I'll cut your tail off. Until then, sit anywhere you like.

Speaking with Sicaea the Shrouded:

Sicaea the Shrouded: I'm following your lead. If we can get those Flame spies out without raising suspicions, I'll be officially impressed.
Talk more option tango.png I've got some questions for you first.
Sure. What do you need to know?
Talk more option tango.png Why can't we just rush in and attack?
For all anyone else knows, those guys are just normal soldiers. We'd look like the criminals. And if we cause a big fight in the bar, they'll use the pandemonium to get away.
Talk back option tango.png I've got another question.
Talk end option tango.png Understood. Let's go.
Talk more option tango.png What information do these spies have?
Specifically, a password to the main Flame Legion camp. Hopefully, they'll just blab it if we can get them alone.
Talk back option tango.png I've got another question.
Talk end option tango.png Understood. Let's go.
Talk more option tango.png Any suggestions on how to proceed?
Environment is key. Anyone and anything could a good distraction-even the targets themselves, if you're good enough.
Talk back option tango.png I've got another question.
Talk end option tango.png Understood. Let's go.
Talk more option tango.png Tell me about our targets.
They're a pair of Flame Legion spies that I've been tracking for a couple of days. I was getting intel, and waiting on the tribune's order before I took them out.
Talk back option tango.png I've got another question.
Talk end option tango.png Understood. Let's go.
Talk end option tango.png Never mind. I'm ready. Let's do this.
Talk end option tango.png Follow me in, and act casual.

Speaking with the Drunken Charr Soldier:

Drunken Charr Soldier: Hey, you! Yeah, you. You look like a mangy, lettuce-eating freak. What do you want?
Ferocity You're at my table, skritt-brains. Clear out.
Yeah? Well, it's my table now. What are you gonna do about it?
Talk quest option tango.png I'm going to thank you...for keeping my seat warm. After I knock you off it.
Talk end option tango.png I'm gonna...wait. At the rate you're drinking, you'll be on the floor soon enough.
Talk end option tango.png Nothing, just wanted a reminder of what happens when you drink too much.

If fighting the drunk soldier:

Bartender: You goons know the rules! No brawling! Take it outside!
Drunk Charr Soldier: Argh... fine, take my seat, I'm too drunk to sit anyway.
Suspicious Charr: (growl) We need to find a quieter hangout.
Shady Charr: What? That's part of the charm. See you next time, barkeep!

Speaking with the Bartender:

Bartender: What'll it be, soldier?
Dignity Double whiskey, neat! And a toast!
A toast, eh? To what?
Talk quest option tango.png To Kalla Scorchrazor, who proved the Flame Legion to be nothing but worthless cowards.
Talk end option tango.png To...to...oh, I forgot. Guess this is why you're supposed to drink AFTER you toast.
Talk end option tango.png Nothing. Sober duty calls.

If toasting to Kalla Scorchrazor:

Bartender: Hear, hear! To Kalla Scorchrazor, our sister-in-arms!! Down with the Flame Legion!
Shady Charr: It's getting too political in here, let's go.
Suspicious Charr: Right behind you. Hearing this trash makes my head burn.

Speaking with the Shady and Suspicious Charr:

Shady Charr: Get lost. You stick your nose in our business and we might just cut if off and keep it as a momento of the time the guy stuck his nose in our business and we cut if off and kept it as a momento.
Talk end option tango.png I was hoping for someone to pass the time with but I see you're not in a hunting mood.
Suspicious Charr: Back off. This conversation's private. No strangers invited.
Charisma "Stranger"? Would a stranger offer to buy the next round?
Why do we need your charity, when we can just take all your money and buy the next round ourselves.
Talk quest option tango.png My plan's better. No one gets hurt and after a few no one feels any pain.
Skewer this. It's pointless to talk now. We'll just have to come back later, when it less...friendly in here.
Talk quest option tango.png No fun, no fun at all. That's okay. I'll catch you next time.
Talk end option tango.png Okay, but you're missing out.
Talk end option tango.png Don't get your whiskers in a twist. I just needed a place to sit.

After offering to buy drinks for the Flame Legion spies:

Suspicious Charr: That drunk's still staring at us. What a pain in the tail.
Shady Charr: Let's just go. Out the door. Very fast.

When getting Flame Legion charr out of the tavern:

Sicaea the Shrouded: Nicely done! I thought we'd have to set the place on fire to get them outside.
<Character name>: Getting them to move was simple. Getting the information, on the other hand...
Sicaea the Shrouded: Let's tail them. It's best if we get what we need without directly engaging. That way, they can't go warn anyone.
<Character name>: And if they catch us following them?
Sicaea the Shrouded: Then we see if you fight as well as you spy. You lead, I'll follow.

After the Flame Legion charr leave the tavern:

Sicaea the Shrouded: Aha! There they go. Looks like they're off to meet someone.
Sicaea the Shrouded: Let's tail them. See who they're working with.
Sicaea the Shrouded: Time to get to work. Here, this might help.

Talking to Sicaea:

Sicaea the Shrouded: Quickly!
Talk end option tango.png On it!

After leaving the Serrated Blade:

Flame Legion Spy: Hey. What's going on! I thought you two were hitting the Serrated Blade.
Suspicious Charr: Too many drunk troublemakers there. Couldn't get anything done.
Suspicious Charr: We have to drop by the hideout before we go to camp. Keep an eye out, right!

While following the Flame Legion charr:

Sicaea the Shrouded: Interesting. They're sticking close to the bar. I thought they'd go farther afield.
Sicaea the Shrouded: Burn me—I realize where they're going. Maybe that's why so many workers have been disappearing lately.
Sicaea the Shrouded: Damn... I was right about the workers. Flame Legion's been killing them off and subbing in shills. Clever bastards.
Charr Engineer: Trybulus gave you an order and you're reporting in without a kill?
Shady Charr: There were complications. Besides we have business here first.
Charr Engineer: Fine. Head on in and get it done. You better hope nobody followed you.

Talking to your sparring partner:

Clawspur: Get 'em!
Talk end option tango.png On it!
Dinky: No! I won't let them hurt you!
Talk end option tango.png Let's get 'em, Dinky!
Euryale: We'll slaughter the lot of them!
Talk end option tango.png Yeah, we will!
Maverick: Get out of my city, filth!
Talk end option tango.png Let's get 'em!
Reeva: I won't let them hurt you!
Talk end option tango.png Let's get them!

After the Flame Legion charr head in to the hideout:

Sicaea the Shrouded: Those punks have the info we need. Let's take out the guards.
Flame Legion Sentry: Enemy contact!

After killing the guards:

Sicaea the Shrouded: Let's listen in at the door and see what we can find out.

Talking to Sicaea:

Sicaea the Shrouded: Now, hurry—before they give us the slip.
Talk end option tango.png Right!

Talking to Sparring Partner:

Clawspur: Press those ears to the door, boss, and let's find out that password!
Talk end option tango.png Right!
Dinky: The door! The door! Is it saying anything?
Talk end option tango.png I'll see what I can hear.
Euryale: Get on your task! The door! Listen at the door!
Talk end option tango.png Right!
Maverick: That was fun! Did you see how heroic I looked? Hey, aren't you supposed to be doing something?
Talk end option tango.png Oh! Listen at the door. Right.
Reeva: Whew! Hurry, listen at the door before I lose my nerve!
Talk end option tango.png Stiff spine, soldier. I'm on it!

When listening in at the door:

Suspicious Charr: Here's where we split. Report back to camp rookie.
Shady Charr: They changed the password again. I forgot it already.
Suspicious Charr: I can't keep covering for you.
Shady Charr: They change it at random. Sometimes twice a day! Who can keep track of that?
Suspicious Charr: Everybody but you! Fine, but this is the last time. It's "Burntsoul" now.
<Character name>: That's the info we need. What do you say: leave now, or take them out?
Sicaea the Shrouded: I say we take them, Legionnaire. Quick and quiet.
<Character name>: I like the way you think.
Sicaea the Shrouded: That door is in our way. Break it down!

Talking to your sparring partner:

Clawspur: I've been waiting all day for this!
Talk end option tango.png Me, too!
Dinky: Kill those guys!
Talk end option tango.png On it!
Euryale: Scorch the Flame Legion! Blast and burn them!
Talk end option tango.png It's a start!
Maverick: Like a thunderbolt!
Talk end option tango.png Murderfy 'em!
Reeva: Tear them apart!
Talk end option tango.png Working on it.

After taking down the door:

Shady Charr: What the...Intruders! Kill 'em!

After deafeating the Flame Legion charr:

Sicaea the Shrouded: Get that password back to Torga. I'll clean up here and catch up with you. Go!

Talking to Sicaea the Shrouded before leaving the instance:

Sicaea the Shrouded: I'll take care of the bodies and meet you at the Tribune's office in the Imperator's Core. Hurry!
Dignity Do you think the Adamant Guard will notice these guys went missing?
I doubt it. We lost so many at Smokestead, a few extra faces going AWOL won't be noticed easily.
Talk more option tango.png What was that password they were talking about?
It's the password to a Flame Legion camp. If Ash can get an operative in there, we might learn what those guys are up to.
Talk end option tango.png Understood. See you in the Tribune Desertgrave's office.
Talk end option tango.png Right. I'll meet you at the tribune's office.
Charisma You're good, Sicaea. Very good. Any chance you're looking to join a warband?
Sorry. I'm in the tribune's warband. Didn't you know?
Talk more option tango.png So, what's this password for?
It's the password to a Flame Legion camp. If Ash can get an operative in there, we might learn what those guys are up to.
Talk end option tango.png Understood. See you in the Tribune Desertgrave's office.
Talk more option tango.png So, what was that password for?
It's the password to a Flame Legion camp. If Ash can get an operative in there, we might learn what those guys are up to.
Talk end option tango.png Understood. See you in the Tribune Desertgrave's office.
Talk end option tango.png We'll move out. Good luck.

Talking to your sparring partner before leaving the instance:

Clawspur: Let's go. Sicaea's got this covered. Tribune Desertgrave will expect a report.
Talk end option tango.png Right. Let's move out.
Dinky: That was awesome! I can't wait to see the look on Tribune Desertgrave's face when we tell her about the ladybug! I mean... the mission.
Talk end option tango.png Let's move out.
Euryale: Good work. Let's get out of here. Sicaea can clean this up.
Talk end option tango.png Right. Move out. We should report to Tribune Desertgrave.
Maverick: Once again, the heroes triumph. Leave that. Sicaea will clean up. Let's go brag to the Tribune!
Talk end option tango.png All right. Move out.
Reeva: Wow, you were so heroic! I'm really impressed. Do you think Sicaea needs help cleaning up?
Talk end option tango.png She's got it covered. Let's get out of here.

At the Ash Tribune's Office[edit]

Talking to your sparring partner:

Clawspur: I scouted the office. Tribune Brimstone's in there. He's arguing with Desertgrave. Watch your step.
Talk more option tango.png Tribune Brimstone?
Yeah, Rytlock Brimstone, one of the brass over Smokestead. He's the big Blood Legion tribune you helped when you fought that ghost, Barradin.
Talk end option tango.png Right, him. Wonder what he wants. Let's go report and find out.
Talk end option tango.png I will. C'mon. We'd better not keep two tribunes waiting.
Dinky: <Character name>! Get this: Tribune Brimstone is in there arguing with Tribune Desertgrave! What'd we do wrong now?
Talk more option tango.png Tribune Brimstone?
Yeah, Rytlock Brimstone, one of the brass over Smokestead. He's the big Blood Legion tribune you helped when you fought that ghost, Barradin.
Talk end option tango.png Right, him. Wonder what he wants. Let's go report and find out.
Talk end option tango.png It's all right, Dinky. We'd better not keep two tribunes waiting.
Euryale: You got here just in time for the show. Tribune Brimstone's up there screaming bloody murder. Tribune Desertgrave's got her claws out, too.
Talk end option tango.png If they're that mad, we'd better not keep the tribunes waiting.
Maverick: This is golden. Tribune Brimstone and Tribune Desertgrave are up there snarling like madcats. I wonder if they are fighting over me.
Talk end option tango.png I seriously doubt that. Let's go-we shouldn't keep two tribunes waiting.
Reeva: <Character name>! I'm so glad you're here. Tribune Desertgrave is up there having an argument with Tribune Brimstone. Are they mad at us? Did we do something wrong?
Talk more option tango.png Tribune Brimstone?
Rytlock Brimstone, one of the brass over Smokestead. He's the big Blood Legion tribune you helped when you fought that ghost, Barradin.
Talk end option tango.png Right, him. Wonder what he wants. Let's go report and find out.
Talk end option tango.png We'd better not keep two tribunes waiting.

Approaching Fengar:

Fengar Cruelmane: Greetings, Legionnaire. Tribune Desertgrave is awaiting your report.

Approaching Tribune Torga Desertgrave:

Rytlock: Torga! Blood Legion soldiers are missing, and you owe me. I told you about the sympathizers at the bar, now you tell me what you found there.
Fengar Cruelmane: Is this a bad time, Tribune! Sicaea and the new legionnaire are back from the Serrated Blade.
Rytlock: Hey, hold on. I know this soldier. Fought Barradin with me. Made legionnaire already? Excellent, excellent.
<Character name>: Yes, sir. Tribune Desertgrave promoted me.
Rytlock: Smart move...and so was deploying you to spy on the Flame Legion. The Serrated Blade is the bar I was talking about. What did you find there?
Tribune Torga Desertgrave: Back off, Brimstone. My operation, my intel. So unless you want to fight it over it, I've got agents to debrief. Fengar can show you the way out.
Rytlock: Fine, I'm putting a lot of trust in Ash here, Torga, but you've got a legionnaire I respect on the job. Because of that, I'll holf off. For now.

If you speak to Rytlock as he walks away:

Rytlock Brimstone: You've got a mission to do. Legionnaire. I'll respect that, as long as you've got more sense than Desertgrave.

Talking to your other allies before Torga:

Fengar Cruelmane: Legionnaire <Character name>. You've got an assignment from Tribune Desertgrave. Do you need me to check regulation or file any paperwork for you?
Talk more option tango.png No, thanks. But I'm curious-what's your job here?
I'm Tribune Desertgrave's aide-de-camp, so I handle all the Ash Legion minutiae. But eventually, I hope to be wielding a sword instead of a pen.
Ferocity Just remember to stab them with the pointy part, cub.
You're hilarious. I admit I set myself up for that one, but come on.
Talk end option tango.png Can't stand the heat, stay in the office. Heh.
Talk end option tango.png You'll have to let me know which one is mightier. Carry on, soldier.
Talk end option tango.png Nothing right now. Carry on.
Sicaea the Shrouded: We're a good team. I've been undercover with those zealots for too long. Forgot what it's like to work with another Ash soldier.
Talk more option tango.png And you were amazing. Especially since Flame isn't exactly female friendly.
Yeah, they usually consign their females to the Apron Legion.
Talk more option tango.png Didn't that make thing more dangerous for you when you were infiltrating?
It actually works to my advantage. When I walk a few paces behind, they don't suspect I'm drawing a target on their back.
Talk more option tango.png So, you think it's smart not sharing our information with the Blood Legion?
It's a mistake. We're headed for a ugly tussle with the Flame, and it's Blood's job to land the first blows.
Talk end option tango.png I'm putting my trust in Torga. Wish me luck.
Talk end option tango.png When the going gets tough, the tough get enlightened. Good-bye.
Talk end option tango.png I'll be with you as soon as I report.

Talking to Torga:

Tribune Torga Desertgrave: Report, Legionnaire <Character name>. How was the operation at the Serrated Blade?
Talk quest option tango.png Sucessful! We have the information and left no witnesses.
I'm impressed enough that I'm sending you in without backup. You'll be working alone of the next mission.
Talk quest option tango.png Ready, willing and able.
We found Flame Legion's camp. I need you to get in, find out as much as you can about their plans, and get out unoticed. Or at least, unoticed by anyone left alive.
Talk quest option tango.png Of course. Any special instructions?
(If male charr)
You'll need this disguise to enter their camp. Don't let the Flame Legion catch on to you. Brimstone may lose soldiers, but I don't.
Talk quest option tango.png I'll be careful. Count on it.
(If female charr)
You'll need this disguise to enter their camp. They'll only let their guard down if they think you're male.
Talk quest option tango.png Not a problem. I can handle this.
One last thing. The attack on our barracks has convinced me we should move headquarters. Brimstone agrees. Return to the new location when you're done.
Talk quest option tango.png Noted. I'll report in when the mission's accomplished.
Talk end option tango.png Excuse me, Tribune. I'll be right back.
Talk more option tango.png Question. Tribune—Why was Tribune Brimstone angry?
Tribune Brimstone lost soldiers trying to find that Flame Legion camp, so now he wants in on this. But that's why my problems, not yours. Ash Legion doesn't share its methods with Blood.
Talk quest option tango.png Understood. What's my next assignment? I'm ready. to "We found the Flame Legion's camp..."
Talk end option tango.png Of course. This won't take long. Permission stand down?
Talk end option tango.png One moment, Tribune. I'll report back as soon as I'm ready.
Talk end option tango.png Sorry, Tribune, but I need time to prepare my report.

Talking to Torga again:

Tribune Torga Desertgrave: The Flame Legion's stepped up the pace on carrying out their plan. You have any questions, or are you ready for your mission?
Dignity With respect-why send me in alone?
We've lost too many soldiers, Legionnaire. If disaster strikes, at least we'll have your ally to tell us what happened.
Talk end option tango.png I'm ready, Tribune. I'm heading out now.
Talk more option tango.png Brimstone said some of his guys went missing near the camp. If I find 'em-?
If you find any Blood prisoners, you can get them out. But not at the expense of the mission. You're there to carry out the Ash Legion's plans. That clear?
Talk end option tango.png Thank you, Tribune. I'm heading out now.
Talk more option tango.png I am. Any advice?
Get in, get what you came for, then get back out. The Flame Legion doesn't take kindly to spies.
Talk end option tango.png Thank you, Tribune. I'll follow those orders to the letter.
Talk end option tango.png I'm ready, Tribune. I'm heading out now.

Talking with your sparring partner again:

Clawspur: Too bad Torga's making you go in alone. I've got a Flame Legion itch to murde-I mean, scratch.
Talk end option tango.png Wish me luck.
Dinky: I hate the idea of waiting outside the camp alone. It's going to be scary out there!
Talk end option tango.png It's going to be scary inside, too. C'mon. Let's move out.
Euryale: A disguise to fool those Flame Legion jerks? Why all the sneaking? Why not just skip to the murder?
Talk end option tango.png We need more than revenge; we need information. That's the Ash Legion way. Now, move out.
Maverick: Torga. Now there's an officer I like! She knows tactics, fights smart, and her underfut glistens in the sunlight.
Talk end option tango.png I agree, but I hadn't noticed the underfur thing. See you at the mission site.
Reeva: You're so brave to go in there alone. I wish I had half your courage.
Talk end option tango.png You're a good soldier, Reeva. I'm glad you're on my team.

Talking to Sicaea again:

Sicaea the Shrouded: Congratulations. Tribune Desertgrave must think highly of you to give you such an important assignment.
Charisma Your skills are remarkable. You're really talented at undercover operations.
Thanks. It's not often someone notices. But I guess that's the point.
Talk more option tango.png Do you know why the Flame Legion hates females? (same as below)
Talk end option tango.png Understood. And agreed. Talk to you later.
Talk more option tango.png Do you know why the Flame Legion hates females?
It all started with a female named Bathea Havocbringer. When the Flame Legion started worshipping the titans as gods, she refused.
Talk more option tango.png The shamans didn't like that, I'll bet.
They hated it worse when Bathea started an underground movement to slaughter the shamans. The only way to stop her was to keep women from fighting at all.
Talk end option tango.png Thanks for the intel.
Talk end option tango.png Thanks for the intel.
Talk end option tango.png Thanks. I'll try not to let her down.

My story[edit]

The Command Core loading screen.jpg

Flame Legion assassins attacked Tribune Desertgrave within the Black Citadel itself! After we terminated them, she sent me to contact her agent, Sicaea the Shrouded, at the Serrated Blade Tavern. Time to initiate counterespionage.

Sicaea the Shrouded and I secured the password to the Flame Legion camp.

I reported back to Torga Desertgrave. Rytlock Brimstone wanted in, but Desertgrave would not let him or the Blood Legion contribute any more to the operation. She's determined to make it exclusively Ash Legion infiltrating the enemy.

Notes[edit]

Your sparring partner will fail to spawn entirely if the initial cutscene starts too quickly - this cutscene is triggered by player movement, so standing perfectly still until your sparring partner has spawned prevents this from occurring.
Dialogue with the sparring partner will call Howl a lieutenant, while the cinematic dialogue with Tribune Torga calls him a legionnaire.
