Bad Reference Link[edit]

The 2nd reference link is bad. Does anyone know if the page still exists? Darcy (talk) 00:56, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

I found this, which looks like a screenshot of the original page. Best we can get, I believe. —Ventriloquist 08:26, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Show world population levels[edit]

Since the API now has the population entry in /v2/worlds, would it be possible to redesign the worlds table and list the population levels from the API (just like the trading post prices for items)? I think it would be a nice feature for the wiki. I would try to add it myself, but I noticed that it would require access to the Widget namespace, which is restricted for obvious reasons. Archomeda (talk) 13:12, 26 August 2015 (UTC)

I really like this idea. G R E E N E R 14:54, 26 August 2015 (UTC)
I've written a small bit of JS to do the query - I know the query itself works, but I don't know how to get it working in "widget" form. (for the record: Widget:World population + my sandbox table). -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 18:13, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
It seems to work fine, so I guess you were still busy with it after you posted this. Although I noticed that the colors of "High" and "Very High" are very similar. Archomeda (talk) 16:31, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

Feedback 2016/03/05[edit]

I noticed that I can't find anywhere on the wiki that seems to have documented the things you *can* do NA/EU cross-region: add to friends list, join party, join guild, whisper, use party/guild chat, send mail with attachments. Some people I've talked to seem under the impression that none of those are possible so it would probably be good to add them, either on this page or somewhere else appropriate, I'm not sure where would be best. --71.1.101.221 19:43, 5 March 2016 (UTC)

World Linking[edit]

Hi everyone,

Although this is a feature that's currently being tested publicly by the developers, we couldn't find any mention of World Linking on the wiki. Since players are asking about it, we're interested in a new section or, since it's in Alpha, a subpage that could cover the topic. What do you think would be the best way to document this? For reference, this is the forum thread where the feature is discussed and details of the world linking are given: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/World-Linking-Beta/first

Let us know what you think! Thank you --Stephane Lo Presti talk 19:13, 16 June 2016 (UTC)

FYI I'm currently working on a "Linked Worlds" section that will replace the forums posts. It'll be updated whenever the worlds are relinked. Let me know if you'd rather we create a subpage, or if there's a more appropriate place for this content. Thanks --Stephane Lo Presti talk 00:13, 29 October 2016 (UTC)

Feedback 2016/09/19[edit]

Under Transfering, Free Accounts it says the following:

"Free accounts are not able to choose a specific server when first set up and cannot transfer to a different server by any method. However on upgrading to a paid account they receive one free transfer to any non-full world."

I just tried a new f2p account myself and I could select a server normally. Is any of this even true? Neok (talk) 12:42, 19 September 2016 (UTC)

I just had the same experience actually (for a second account) - you can freely select whichever server you like on a free account now at the login screen. You don't get an ability to change it when you upgrade to a "proper" account, which I did a few minutes after creating it via the in-game interface - you just stay on the world you originally picked. Transferring, however, appeared to be locked. Rrylia (talk) 16:06, 27 December 2016 (UTC)

Feedback 2017/05/24[edit]

For the linked world list, how current is "currently"? Please specify a date and how long this usually stays valid. --77.169.238.133 18:48, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

Feedback 2020/03/27[edit]

Can probably remove the GW2Guru link as none of them work anymore. I think the site is gone. --Inculpatus cedo (talk) 07:20, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

Transfering[edit]

There must be other conditions for free transfer. I have alt accounts with active characters that show 0 gems cost for any world, and I can't understand why. I have other alt accounts that see normal fee (500/1000/1800 gems). It doesn't depend on switching EU/NA or the other way around. I suspect that having or not having set foot in WvW (at least for accounts created after megaservers ?) is the difference but I can't be sure. I entered WvW with an account that shows 0 gems fee, went out, checked again : the fee is still 0 gems (and the account is far from new - it's close to 6yo). Eowin (talk) 16:07, 3 October 2023 (UTC)

Were these formally free accounts? Free accounts get a free transfer once they've been upgraded to paid. This may be why you're seeing such a discrepancy?--Rain Spell (talk) 19:14, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
They were paid from the start, BUT creating an account now forces you to be f2p even for a few seconds. Even the oldest of my PoF alts, bought from official shop, gave me a key, made me create an account without the key and then add the key. I never logged in as f2p as I applied the key (PoF or, later, core keys) in account.arena.net before first logging in. But this might explain the free transfer. It means that any account created in the past year (at least since 2017 and more probably since f2p is a thing) gets to choose world on 1st login AND a free transfer ! Imho it's quite an injustice for veteran players. Anyway, a mention should be added to the Transfering section to make it clear, if we can verify that any new account gets a free transfer.
