The skillvid for this was SICK, lol. Looked like a Jedi returning blaster fire, hah. --Naoroji User Naoroji Golem - Green.jpg 20:30, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Seems a bit ridiculous that it reflects magical attacks (or so it seems), but oh well. Magic axes I bet... -_- --Odal talk 20:32, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Presumably they count as projectiles like in gw1. Very jedi... ftw! ,,"Klumpeet",, 20:36, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
It's just I've always found it kinda ridiculous how a metal/wooden shield or a steel sword/axe can block magical projectiles, and I hate the excuse "The weapon/shield is magic!". --Odal talk 20:37, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
It's interesting, because it may be better just to have no explaination like the original... ,,"Klumpeet",, 20:43, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
It's called enchanted. The axes are enchanted. Venom20 [User_talk:Venom20] 21:26, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Whatever you want to call it, it annoys me. ^_______^ --Odal talk 21:27, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
In the previous game, you killed a Lich on a giant rechargeable battery that fed on souls. And you're questioning Jedi? EiveTalk 21:34, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Which I also thought was kinda ridiculous and unoriginal... And fuck Jedi, I'm a freaking Wookie. --Odal talk 21:36, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Who says magical energy can't be deflected by physical matter? I don't think there's any lore on that, and I think autoattacking in GW1 would be useless if wanding passed through your target. --Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig.png (Talk) 21:36, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Oh it's perfectly fine as a game mechanic, I'm just completely irrational and close-minded. ^^ --Odal talk 21:42, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Yea and everyone knows games are rational and always make sense right?Emmisary 01:20, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
You'd be very surprised how much of the DnD mechanics makes sense, once you get past the magic stuff. --Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig.png (Talk) 02:11, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
It makes sense if you remember that a wizard did it. ,,"Klumpeet",, 05:45, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Looks overpowered to me, wonder how it works.--Kareshii 01:44, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
And nothing else has looked overpowered to you so far? These are high-level players against low-level monsters, keep in mind. --Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig.png (Talk) 04:25, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Oh god dont start the whole "oh, its seems way over powered" thing in GW2, u dont want 1,000,000 nerfs like GW1 do u? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.171.163.219 (talkcontribs).
To be fair, just about anything that's "good" in GW is overpowered and gimmicky. --Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig.png (Talk) 12:07, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
By overpowered, I mean't "pretty and fun to watch", no need to be eat my legs. :S --Kareshii 19:20, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Guys, don't you think a shield that does not work vs magic would seriously suck in a world where 5/8 people use magic attacks? I mean, think. Please. 84.85.197.187 14:55, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) C-c-c-combo breaker! Anyway, I'm sure this skill will have percentile chance, and it looks to either be toggled or channeled. Melee attacks likely won't react the same way, either.--Corsair@Yarrr 19:28, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

I'd like to point out that no sensible company would ever want to make a preview showing their game characters fail, so of course it's going to be an easy win in the preview; and that there really is no need to eat anyones' legs.. yet.. -_^ 98.112.230.67 17:27, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

deflecting "attacks"?[edit]

Is the description confirmed by an interview? I was under the impression that the skill was only reflecting projectiles (ie. standard arrows and this Lightning-Orb-looking spell), not all attacks. Chriskang 06:56, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

amended ,,"Klumpeet",, 07:21, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Pong?[edit]

What happens if there are two rangers, and they both shoot an arrow at the other one and both activate Whirling Defense before the arrows hit? Will the arrows keep bouncing back and forth until the Whirling Defenses wear off? --ていせい 15:29, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

That's an interesting possibility. It'd be a case of trying it when the game comes out I presume. ShadowRunner 15:30, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
How cool would that be! (Xu Davella 16:08, 30 September 2010 (UTC))
I can just imagine it now... Two Rangers doing a 1v1, they both shoot their bows and instantly go into Whirling Defense, and are just stuck there until they wear off. We could turn that into a build! EiveTalk 18:31, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
"Pongway?" Zolann The IrreverentUser Zolann The Irreverent Mysterious Summoning Stone.png 20:34, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
Try it in SSBB with two Foxes fun.72.220.25.97 00:37, 1 January 2011 (UTC)Dab Kilm
That's impossible, you can't use an axe and a bow at the same time. By the time they swap sets the arrow will hit the target --Majere User Majere II sig.jpg 13:18, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
slow moving arrow.. or someone else could shoot the arrow.. and who knows how fast rangers could swap weapons. --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 14:06, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
Well, axes are ranged weapons for the ranger. I bet it could work. Zolann The IrreverentUser Zolann The Irreverent Mysterious Summoning Stone.png 21:34, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Something I've been thinking... There might be a thing about reflecting projectiles that a projectile can only be deflected once... Would make some interesting three way battles (Shoot a projectile of death and destruction at an enemy Guardian, he deflects it to a third enemy who can't deflect it). Just speculation, though.Tuomir 09:44, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Try it with two axe/axe rangers. Auto attack, enemy and you press 5 at the same time.72.161.125.142 06:35, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

You can actually get projectiles to bounce back and forth. Try it using Magnetic Aura against the Jade Colossi in the Maw fractal. 80.112.180.46 13:55, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Page "reflect"?[edit]

What about a page "Reflect"? There are some skills which reflect attacks Corvus 20:08, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

New ID number?[edit]

I believe that this skill has the ID 12639 [&Bl8xAAA=], but I don't know enough about IDs to confidently replace the number that is currently in the article. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 13:23, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
