Hangrammr Climb[edit]

Norn name for Hrangmer, perhaps? Konig/talk 19:32, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Well, I'm first just mostly hoping I got the spelling right. It's 'discovered' in the norn starting area as folks are climbing the stairs to battle Issormir, which would place it just east of Hoelbrak, wouldn't it? That seems a little close for something that's supposed to be northeast of Ascalon. Though with the norn, who knows how they define something like 'climb'. Redshift 20:19, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
It's actually merely northeast to the Plains of Golghein, which is somewhere within marching distance of Rin/Black Citadel. It also depends on where in Wayfarer Foothills this place is, and which direction it is from Hoelbrak. I just found the name too close to pass a possible similarity between them. Konig/talk 20:33, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Molensk[edit]

Just possibly named after a certain Russian city? Seeing how the Dredge appear to be very Soviet Union-influenced too, I'd say it's probable. Question is, does it warrant a mention in the article? I'd just do it if there were a specific Molensk page, but, obviously, that link is red. Thunderduck 02:46, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Erm, do we even know what Molensk is yet? I'm also not sure if it would warrant one anyway, there are, technically speaking, a very large but finite number of names. Probably further examination is needed. Aqua (T|C) 02:49, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
Ah, sorry - it's a Dredge mine. In TotalBiscuit's video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-UZFu7yZEw starting around 26:00 (and specifically a 27:02 on the map). I won't add anything, although I think that it's likely (then again, if I had my way all the time, Maverick's page would have a Top Gun reference in the trivia). Thunderduck 03:42, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
There's already a note on the dredge page about them being influenced by the soviet union. No need to put a note on every page that has anything to do with them. Eerie Moss 05:40, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
It's been a while, but I just wanted to point out that there's apparently a dredge settlement called Molengrad - another name, this time similar to a whole pattern of city names in Russia. I'm not advocating any note on this page or anything, but I was excited at my theory having more evidence :D. Molengrad doesn't have it's own article, but you can see it on the page for Dredge Strazar - incidentally, also a slavic-based word. Thunderduck 05:48, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

Rewards for Completion[edit]

I completed the area yesterday and got the completion mail, going to upload those pictures. New to wiki styled pages though, so I don't want to do the edits myself. The mail: http://i.imgur.com/w7c02.jpg. 1 copper coin, 20 copper ores, Mighty Magician's Coat of the Grove (Defense 48, +11 power, Minor Rune of the Grove (0/2) (1): +10% healing (2): 10% protection duration. Masterwork, light, chest armor, Req. level 14. Mighty Swindler's Mask of the Citadel, defense 15, +5 power, Minor Rune of the Citadel (1): +10 power (2): 10% fury duration, Masterwork, Medium, Head armor, Req. level 14.

So, armor for my class and for another class, some resources, and a negligible amount of gold. Canineblade 17:14, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

I completed it during the stress test and got different stuff. Still 1 copper, but I got 20 Rawhide Leather Scrap. Some kind of Axe and I can't make out the final thing (think it's another weapon), both weapons were level 14 though. Not got stats unfortunately. Interesting how we both got different things though. 2.124.195.8 19:20, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
It isn't that weird. I bet its random within certain parameters. And I doubt it is final. Konig/talk 19:26, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Completion Message[edit]

I think its Eir that sends you a letter for completing this area? Can anyone confirm, if so here is the write up.

Greetings. No less than four strangers came up to me yesterday to speak of your recent exploits. You are a rare find in these dark times, someone who selflessly protects so many lives. May the Spirits watch over you.

Area Renamed[edit]

In BWE 3, the area on our map named Molevechia was renamed as Moleberia. --Enda - talk 18:37, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Now that the game has released, it's still Moleberia, not Molevechia. --Enda - talk 01:25, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Missing Renown Heart?[edit]

The heart near Frusenfell isn't there anymore, and I can't find any other/new heart. I can't complete the map without that last task. --Lustre Of Havoc 05:46, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Heart near Outcasts Waypoint isn't there. Heart N of Lostvrym WP and W of Dolyak Pass WP on that square moved NNE to Solitude Vale.

Crafting location[edit]

It might be worth noting that the crafting stations are located near the Twinspur Haven Waypoint, between The Icesteppes and Icevine Dale. Zahra 00:34, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

The Frozen Maw[edit]

I've been wondering about this meta event, and the Ice Elemental that appeared in Beta if the portals weren't closed on time. I posted on Talk:The Frozen Maw. Because that is a low traffic talk page, and I don't expect anybody to see it there, I'm posing the question here as well. Does the Ice Elemental still arrive upon failure of closing the portals as it did in Beta? -CrazyRabidSquirrel 16:50, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

As said on other talk page, I don't know what happens when you fail to do all three events that's timed (it shouldn't matter if you close the portals or not so long as you don't complete all three, you'll "fail"), but it appears when you complete them, but cannot be targeted and you fight the Shaman himself. The Greater Ice Elemental (name given from the now-removed Creature Codex) is the cause behind the multiple falling ice spikes in the area. Konig/talk 17:48, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
In beta an actual entirely separate boss would spawn if you failed to close the portals, I just don't know if they've removed that content. I know because I crossed it by myself and couldn't close all the portals in time, and giant ice elemental spawned instead of the shaman. It was more toward the middle of the lake, not to the side, and I think it's aoe reached basically the entire lake since I had to run pretty far to get away. That was beta, but I'm curious if it's still there. But if you say a creature appears above the shaman now, then they probably took it out. -CrazyRabidSquirrel 04:43, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
Ok, I just looked, and I'm pretty sure nothing happens if you fail the pre event, you just fail. -CrazyRabidSquirrel 03:43, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
I wouldn't doubt that the ice elemental becomes a separate entity, though that shaman's always there, and that reach is the same I think if you succeed the event. Did you manage to get it to fail or is that just thought? Konig/talk 05:05, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
gah! I need to clean out my watchlist. Sorry I didn't respond sooner, I only saw this just now. I remember seeing a giant elemental above, but it's been so long, I don't remember if it had a health bar or if it was just scenery. I didn't take any screenshots, so I guess I'll go to my grave wondering about it. —CrazyRabidSquirrel 04:52, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Something wrong with the Vista table.[edit]

If you click on edit for the Vista table, you get information for one vista (Osenfold Shear). And, that particular vista isn't in the table. However, I don't know how to fix it. Daddicus 02:49, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

Vistas have their OWN files for each region and area (find them under "list of vistas in [region]"). You need to edit the data on these files NOT on the area's specific file. The linkage has already been established between both sets of files, and does make it "simpler" to update.Undouble 11:33, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
That sounds reasonable, but the problem is that if you click "Edit" on THIS page, you get the vista information for one specific vista. And, under that page (wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_vistas_in_Wayfarer_Foothills, http removed for clarity), you get only 8 vistas (of 10), and the one specific one is one of the two missing. So, unless I am mistaken, both pages need to be updated. I think I can figure out how on the "list of" page (thanks for the tips!!!), but I'm at a loss on this page.
It's like a line is missing or something, but I can't figure out which one. I suspect someone tried to edit it and accidentally deleted something.
I'm going to copy this post to the other page's talk, so people who see it know it is being discussed. If someone fixes it, please make a note in the discussion page for both pages. Thanks! Daddicus 16:00, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
The vista tables are going anyways, Caledon Forest is how all zone articles are going to end up looking, with vista information going on the vista's area article (e.g., the vista in Osenfold Shear will eventually go to The Osenfold Shear rather than being on here). Unless something else is discussed and agreed upon via consensus in the meantime. Konig/talk 21:05, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
Be that as it may, this one is still broken. And using another format will simply lose the information we have now, if it's not fixed before then. The table is incomplete, but it at least contains info about 8, and a 9th one is in limbo somewhere (Ossenfold Shear). (The 10th one isn't known to the Wiki so far as I can tell.)
Until the day comes when the tables are replaced, can we get this one fixed? Daddicus 05:00, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
if Caledon Forest is going to be the matrix, then the GW2 WIKI is REALLY in trouble!!! It's totally useless to have an entry without ANY supporting documentation--------and that's EXACTLY what Caledon Forest looks like, today.--------and pulleeze-don't give us the lame excuse that "it'll be fixed in the upgrade"--that ain't been bought for years!!68.59.37.249 03:29, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

Bulk Resources[edit]

I don't know how to add something to the page, but there karma vendor named Albin Chronicler has Green Beans in Bulk for 35 karma per bag.

Misssing or never got out of beta events[edit]

  • Investigated the area extensively and frequently, I am 99.99% sure they are not in the game now. So removed for events list, can be off, be put back if I am wrong
I know that Shaman Velja and the last 3 are still in, I've done them all more than once in the past month. I'm pretty sure the rest are still in too, think I remember doing all of them right after release. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 13:36, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
Weird, I have spent literally hours in the area and never a sight or sound of them, well, I'll try again, thanks. Bernardus 14:37, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
You just added Naddoddur to the list - he's definitely in, I distinctly remember fighting him a few weeks ago. I know the dredge ones are basically all part of a cyclical chain (except for the ore gathering), so it's possible that something bugged the chain on your world right now. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 15:12, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
I have seen the first, second, sixth, seventh (prelude to sixth), and eighth after beta. The sixth and seventh's chain (which I suspect includes the dredge tower to turrets as well) has often been bugged though. Konig/talk 19:15, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for input people, I'll put them back. As for being bugged on my server, through 3 restarts? They must be really badly bugged :) BTW, is/was Naddoddur near the jotuns at Grawlenfjord, if so level 13 seems excessive for that area? Bernardus 21:43, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
Yes, that's where he is. Checking the page history, it looks like it should be 3 but suffered a transcription error at some point. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 22:22, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, they're back. btw is there a way to private message someone on this system? Bernardus 22:46, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
Within the wiki? No, but if you entered and verified an email in your preferences, you can use the "Email user" link (shows up in the Toolbox sidebar when viewing user pages) to send an email. Assuming the other user has also entered and verified their email, of course. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 22:55, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
Found it, I guess looking would be helpful before asking. btw, found a bunch of the missing, only one not in series near Molensk, teste all the failing options too. I think Sven gets stuck periodically and glitches the series up. Now for the Shaman and the jotuns… Bernardus 02:36, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
The shaman is at Snow Leopard Shrine. Sven should appear after defeating the Commissar, iirc. Konig/talk 03:14, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure Sven isn't part of the chain, because I've been gathering ore for him while leading the norn to the Commissar. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 04:57, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
I could be thinking of a different event then, because I recall a collection event after killing the Commissar, and the norn you collect to is at where you kill said Commissar. Konig/talk 08:28, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

These 3 are not in the game any more or are not starting, i've waited many hours for them to start, even after server restarts.

They're still in the game. I don't know what triggers the jotun attacking the bear shrine, but Naddoddur is it's followup. As for the Shaman Velja one, it happens every 5 or 6 repeats of the event where the dredge attack the shrine. I, too, have done extensive research. --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 09:55, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
moved to Talk:Protect Shaman Velja while she recovers the kidnapped snow leopard cubs from the dredge
Sometimes you can't just "sit and wait" - some events, like iirc the jotun one, is triggered by you doing things (in this case, killing a lot of the jotun there, similar to how killing trolls in that one particular swamp in Sparkfly Fen will spawn a champ troll, or how killing Arctodus near Lornar's Gate will spawn some denmothers). Konig 02:34, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
well also as well as waiting for hours i try everything else i can think of like killing everything, trying to get NPC's killed etc etc....i guess it must be like Musha says though with these ones and based on how many people are there. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.47.43.233 (talk • contribs) at 18:29, 6 April 2013 (UTC).
Recently some light has been shred on these events. They are kinda back up events. If there are a lot of people on the map, events go rather quickly and there is a change people never see any events. These are used to give anyone an equal change of getting some events to do. So bottom line: these only trigger when there are a lot of people in the area.Ranique (talk) 09:21, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

September Feature Pack 2014 Pet Changes[edit]

So many of the pets in this map were removed with the September Feature Pack. The ones remaining in the list (raven, arctodus, ice drake) are all confirmed to still be there, although ice drake lost one spawn. Traveller (talk) 21:30, 21 September 2014 (UTC)

MAP NEEDS UPDATING BADLY!!!!!!!!!!![edit]

I'm missing one heart, so I tried to use this "map". It got 3 hearts on it that do not exist anymore, and I can't find the heart I'm missing on it. So. sucks!

The rest of the page is up to date, or very nearly. The maps are lagging a little. --Spionida (talk) 01:25, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
The interactive map should be up to date since it's created from the API.--Relyk ~ talk < 02:34, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
Is there a way the current (inaccurate) map in the infobox can be replaced with a link to the interactive map? The static map was mentioned to me by a player's friend who couldn't find the Heart next to Outcasts' Waypoint. Thanks! --Stephane Lo Presti talk 23:58, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
A very minor change, disappointing that nobody has bothered to do it before now. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 01:50, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
It's the nature of wikis isn't it? Thanks Alex (by the way I saw you post on reddit about HoT zone rewards, you can contact me to see if I can help :) --Stephane Lo Presti talk 02:01, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
Getting HoT zone reward data would be useful, but I imagine that the ArenaNet folks who have access to the data have other things to do that would benefit the community more than pandering to an obscure wiki request... -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 10:07, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
Let's be clear, there's nothing obscure about the wikis. They're used by tons of players, so helping our wikis benefits the community. That being said, we need to be efficient and smart about this kind of request. In this case, I'm just curious if it's information difficult to obtain or just a fact that current editors of the wiki don't have it. If the latter, then I could simply put together a call to the community to help :) --Stephane Lo Presti talk 16:26, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
I meant the request was located in an "obscure" location (the reddit thread), not that the wiki is unused ^^. In terms of "difficult to obtain" - here are the methods of obtaining the full set of data:
  • (A) Do 80x events, and hope that you don't miss a reward (they get added to the inventory without much fanfare) when writing them down. Repeat for every zone. Repeat for 8 weeks.
  • (B) Buy 40x Pact Scout's Mapping Materials (tyria only consumable) + write down which rewards you get every time you click it, from 1-40. Repeat for every zone. Repeat for 8 weeks.
  • (C) Data-mine the .dat file, or ask ArenaNet for the data.
(A) takes ages and involves spending a lot of time doing lots of events and watching the UI carefully. (B) doesn't work in HoT zones.
If (C) is an option, then adding the data to the wiki would be much quicker (i.e. we don't have to wait 8 weeks). -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 16:42, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

Feedback 2019/02/04[edit]

The map image needs to be updated, 2 hearts have changed position, and it still shows the old hero point icons. I'd love to do it myself but I don't know how to take an image of the whole map completed. Do you just take several screenshots and paste them together in paint?. --Warming Hearth (talk) 22:05, 4 February 2019 (UTC)

I'll have another go if you don't get there first, but the process is usually:
  • Take good quality base map *.bmp screenshots and reassemble.
  • Open in inkscape, drop the sector boundaries on - either from the api or the old hand-drawn ones.
  • Export back to .jpg
-Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 23:03, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
Done. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 00:32, 5 February 2019 (UTC)

Wayfarer is taken[edit]

I searched for "Wayfarer", and ended up here. I was looking for the bounty in Desert Highlands.

It seems to me there should be at least a disambiguation page, or maybe even get rid of the redirect.

Thought? Daddicus (talk) 04:58, 23 February 2019 (UTC)

I turned the redirect into a disambig page. Thank you for the suggestion! User Incarnazeus Signature.pngtalk 10:55, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
