Has the name of the skill been confirmed as Tornado? I don't recall them ever calling it that, just saying that a skill could turn you into a tornado. --User Phnzdvn sig.pnghnzdvn 17:26, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Agreed, we've no confirmation of the name of this skill. -- NilePenguin 17:35, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
No it hasn't been named yet, but I felt it needed documentation. Reaper of Scythes** User Reaper of ScythesJuggernaut1.png 17:40, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
If you follow the link below to some gameplay on YouTube then you will see that at 1:53 the character mouses over his/her Tornado elite skill; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnV9ESWqlOA. Tangro 21:51, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Also, has anyone else noticed the 720 second recharge (i think that is 12 min)? Hopefully not all elites have that long of a recharge. Maybe they are making it so you use it for a last-ditch effort? I dont really know... 85.114.54.166 14:11, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

I am a bit scared of these long-recharge godmode skills as well. ***EAGLEMUT*** TALK 14:13, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
The necro elite seems to be the same way. Interesting, the rest of the skillsbar seems to be balances for pretty active use. --Damarus 16:41, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Now that you mention it, it does seem that even on the ranger (cause i just saw a good quality vid on gametrialers.com) barrage seems to only have a 40 second recharge at max i think (didnt count the seconds). 85.114.54.166 16:46, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Move proposal[edit]

I disagree with the move proposal - we usually use quotation marks with skills when they're shouts, so it would be misleading to use them here. To indicate that Tornado isn't officially a skill name, just reword the article to indicate it's the effect of an unknown skill instead. pling User Pling sig.png 18:10, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Agreed, the reworded page seems fine to me, in its current location. -- NilePenguin 18:17, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
I also agree, I am going to remove the move tag. --User Phnzdvn sig.pnghnzdvn 20:01, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Footage?[edit]

We have plenty of footage of this skill... does anyone want to upload an image/animation? --AmannelleUser Amannelle Me.jpg 16:06, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

I think Chris (He makes them right) will probably wait until an official video is produced from Anet, not just a recording. Imo a GiF from a recording is just awful... --Naut User Naut Dark Blue Monk.png 16:15, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
Oh, is it? All right then. :) --AmannelleUser Amannelle Me.jpg 16:32, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
Just saw this during the GW2 Gamescon Live Demo. Pretty sweet. At first I thought it was something bad to be avoided, but Izzy said it was an ele in a form, so pretty cool (Usaf1a8xx 16:53, 21 August 2010 (UTC))

Interactions[edit]

Is anyone aware whether this skill will interact with other skills in the game such as fire pit? I am currently imagining how a tornado can combine with fire like a fire whirl (wikipedia article) I am aware that this is not how a firewhirl starts in real life of course. Another possibility (and the most likely) is that it throws the fire similar to cyclone axe and whirling defense. Anyone informed enough on this to confirm?--Decoinferno 09:31, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

we probably will have to wait to find out - hidden combos serve no purpose if they're not discovered by players the good way :P Getefix 18:15, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

so...[edit]

it looks like full invulnerability for the controller. Glad PvP (Especially WvW) will be balanced.— Scythe 0:26, 27 Sep 2010 (UTC)

Just like half the other elites. These are game-changing elites, not spammable shit like in GW1. You can use this once every 12 minutes, and someone on the enemy team has the opportunity to cast the same thing and devastate your team if they don't counter it. Nothing is imbalanced yet, so stop whining. --Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig.png (Talk) 00:30, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
Not to mention it lasts a pathetically short amount of time and the form doesn't have any skills (unless you learn some later). As a side note, should the no-skills part be noted? –~=Ϛρѧякγ AHHH! (τѧιк) ←♥– 01:07, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
Probably. --Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig.png (Talk) 02:14, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
And it's probably another year before the game is released... plenty of time to balance things before release. --Lania User Lania Elderfire pinkribbon.jpg 04:01, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
Not to mention that you have to actually touch the user to take damage. If you can't kite this, you deserve to die. --Emelend 12:27, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
It really moves slowly, so the impact is greatest in a balled up mob. Once spotted, as Emelend mentioned, it's easy to kite (save being slowed) and you deserve to die if you cannot even accomplish that. :) - Infinite - talk 12:39, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
yes but attacking an outpost, caravan, or font in WvW will be easy shit. Tornado -> wide open door. Plus, it seems massivly overpowered compared to RaO (ranger elite) — Scythe 20:19, 27 Sep 2010 (UTC)
Yea so then you will bust open the door, exit your form, and get surrounded promply by the defending team. I think this skill is pretty balanced and besides some skills as mentioned before may not be availible in some forms of PvP/WvW. I think this skill is fine. we like the developers need to actually see it in "real-real" gameplay to judge it. 74.220.50.81 15:08, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
I will jump into the onslaught of massively balled up melee professions and ram my 0 key. WHOOSH! - Infinite - talk 15:23, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
Oh, Tornado suffers the same fatal flaw that SoJ suffered. It is pitifully easy to avoid and counteracts itself when you don't. –~=Ϛρѧякγ AHHH! (τѧιк) ←♥– 00:37, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Duration[edit]

From one video I saw it's 20s. Shido 18:30, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

That's what I counted, but they're level 45+, the duration could be affected by traits, or tiers, or anything else that we might not know. EiveTalk 22:38, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

recharge[edit]

Int he videos from boon against anet pvp, you can see the recharge has changed to something like 180 (2.30). Change?--Sierra193.190.253.147 18:19, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Skills[edit]

Do they depend on attunement or is it a fixed set? Mediggo 12:21, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

I saw multiple demo videos and it seems its a fixed set. Cant say for sure though. -- Cyan User Cyan Light sig.jpg 12:58, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
It's a fixed set due to Tornado being an elite and (as of yet) not affected by attunements. If only someone recorded the descriptions of them, though... - Infinite - talk 13:27, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
It look likes 4 times Lightning Strike and 1 time Sandstorm. -- Cyan User Cyan Light sig.jpg 13:51, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

IMO, they should replace one Lightning with Water Spout: Gain regeneration or something.67.181.180.101 02:54, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Changes to whirlpool under water?[edit]

On the Elixer x page, it says something about having a chance to turn into a whirlpool underwater. Naturally i thought this had to be the replacement for the tornado skill when diving, cuz well its hard to become a tornado underwater. So, do we have any info about this? I dont remember seeing elites be used while underwater. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.171.247.252 (talk).

Dashing knocks people down?[edit]

Am not sure, but i did do it once, can someone confirm this *and maybe post it on the wiki page*?

How tornado skills work[edit]

Rather than battle a fellow editor, I just want to make a case for stating on the Tornado page you only have to press a skill once to activate the effect and have it persist. If you spam the skills, they don't fire on pulse. The note was almost identical to plague's page. This mechanism of persisting skills are unique to these transforms, and the notes helped me as a player.

It was a little ambiguous. I wish they would update Plague with skill effects to indicate which effect is currently active.--Relyk ~ talk < 23:14, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

Engineer's Tornado[edit]

weird damage[edit]

I've been doing some HotM testing after calculating the base damage coefficient to be 1.1, and I've noticed that the damage pulses have been in the ~0.35ish area, and now I'm wondering if the tooltip is showing the damage of 3 pulses and it being a remnant of an old beta tornado only ticking 3 times instead of 4. 1.1/3 = 0.366... which is pretty close to my results when comparing to other abilities. I'm not sure if I should add it in the notes section or not. The same is likely true for all three "active" abilities on the transformation as well.

I also discovered a bug while doing this testing, Tornado transform still gives you bonus crit chance, roughly 40%, though it doesn't appear in the hero panel at all. Tornado used to give 916 bonus precision which worked out to be 43.6% extra crit chance, so it seems it's still giving that original bonus. - 68.55.179.243 17:28, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
