Apparently Daniel Dociu mentioned here (under his username "tinfoil", which he also uses at the concept art forum) that the art book will be sold online beginning next week, at US$30.00. Caveat lector. Erasculio 13:34, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Collectors Edition[edit]

Any word on whether The Art of Guild Wars 2 will be included with the Guild Wars 2 collectors edition? Much like how art books were packaged with previous Guild Wars collector editions. I really want the book, but I don't want two copies of it. --68.110.26.99 00:58, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

It's not going to be in the Collector editions of the game. It's a standalone book. --Aspectacle 01:13, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
Are you sure? The collectors edition always comes with an art book, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't package this book with it despite the fact they're selling it individually. I think I'll hold off buying it until I hear official word on whether the collectors edition will have a different book. --68.110.26.99 18:59, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
Regina said that it won't be included.-- Shew 19:07, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
Horia Dociu also said this: "I have no details on the CE but this book was put out during production because we want people to get it now and explore our creative process, there's a lot more concepts for the game that did not make it in to this book, and surely a lot more before the game is done. The hope is that if this book does well, we'll release another with new art etc."-- Shew 19:14, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
That's reassuring, thanks. Looks like I will be getting my copy of this book soon then! --68.110.26.99 19:23, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

And may I just say that the book is absolutely awesome! The artwork is really inspirational and I'm glad I bought it :) --85.71.103.102 11:17, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

The Art of Guild Wars 2 text[edit]

Is it allowed to write down the text and story on the Art on the wiki, or is it covered by Privacy Policy? King'sQuest User King's Quest Mask5.png 13:08, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

You can paraphrase, but you can't write it word for word-- it does breach the copyright.-- Shew 13:12, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
I thought we were allowed to use material copyrighted by ArenaNet here... if we weren't wouldn't we not able to upload screenshots and concept art? --User Phnzdvn sig.pnghnzdvn 16:12, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
In general, we're allowed to use material copyrighted by Anet, based on their permission. That permission does not extend to parts of the artbook that they're still trying to sell that aren't already made freely available by them in other ways. - Tanetris 16:30, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
After some time, I'm sure anet will allow us to document it all. I wouldn't doubt that, if we asked, we could upload everything found in the Proph, Factions, and NF CE's (art from artbooks, music from the soundtracks, scans of the posters and whatnot)... If they haven't said we could already. Give it several (read: 5-10) years, we may be able to transcribe the books even. :P -- Konig/talk 22:49, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Well, hmm... placed the foreword on. Hope that doesn't breach anything. Also, for example, the information about Orr, Maguuma, Kryta etc. from the Art of Guild Wars 2, I think we can use some of those on the appropriate pages? --KingsQuest 13:08, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Yes, if you paraphrase it.-- Shew 15:29, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
