Regarding the glitch[edit]

I don't think the glitch described in the page is really a bug, but may be a design choice. First: The Spider Lord seems to have always the "Determined" buff on him at start and will lose it after he finishes his dialogues. At least, this had happend to me. So he started invulnerabe and became a normal target afterwards. IF there is a timing issue, this might be intentional, because your NPC ally says specifically: "Spiders! Don't stop. Keep moving forward!" So I don't know, if it should be stated as a bug/glitch or if it should be just a note to remind the player to hurry. Balwin (talk) 11:17, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

Dialogue[edit]

From what I've seen, the "celebration" dialogue requires the relevant NPCs to be alive:

Elli: Excuse me? Most high poobity-poobah Jeyne? Permission to celebrate, ma'am?
Crusader Eilye Jeyne: Yes, Elli. You can celebrate.
Elli's Hologram: Hooooo-rah! The lighthouse guardian is DOWN! Victory to the champion of champions, US!
Elli's Hologram: It's all spider legs and dust, folks. Pay your tickets at the door and don't forget to tip your announcer.
Agent Zott: Why do I put up with this?

Otherwise, your chat log will end up looking like this:

Risen Spider Lord: I will kill you myself!
Agent Zott: Hmm. The discombobulator's detached from the combobulator. Could you lend a hand, Commander?

Took me over three tries just to get the "celebration" because NPCs kept dying. --BryghtShadow (talk) 14:27, 17 November 2013 (UTC)

Spider adds wont stop[edit]

If you don't run to the Spider Lord the spiders will just keep spawning. Creating a great weapon training farm similar to the rats in the Vigil Personal Story --62.177.221.18 15:46, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

The vigil personal story is the level 60 forewarned is forearmed. The rats spawn when you first enter the sewer in Lions Arch.

Is this instance repeatable?--Knighthonor (talk) 15:53, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

Worst checkpointing evah![edit]

Seriously, getting downed means being bounced back to the beginning beach and the tedious swim across the bay (hello sharks!) and the run back up the hill --BramStoker (talk, contribs) 22:48, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Yep, pain in the ass, took me a few occurences of resurrecting at the beginning to realise I should switch to ranged damage to avoid getting my arse kicked. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 16:36, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

Feedback 2017/08/22[edit]

There's an additional conversation with Scholar Inkblood at the end, when he says that "spiders taste like grawl feet" if you chose to study the Grawl at Personal Story Chapter 5. It goes like this:

<you>: Easy there. A grawl shaman named Gara is a friend of mine.
> Scholar Inkblood: Gara, eh? Think I saw him skulking around Fort Trinity. Good to know there are some exceptions to the rule.
x You and me both.
x I’ll take your word for it.

Dialogue at Approaching Crusader Eilye Jeyne[edit]

The current state of this wiki suggests that only Sylvari characters who have completed Trouble at the Roots will receive the following dialogue from Crusader Eilye Jeyne:
"Your reputation precedes you, Commander. I'm glad to be working with you. Let me assemble the squad."
And, if not a Sylvari, then the player will otherwise see:
"Commander, good to see you. Let me call the others over, and we'll get started."

I can confirm that I received the first dialogue option on my Human Guardian character, not to mention the second option seems to be more of familiarity which would more likely be said to a character who has met her before. I also do not believe the second option to come from the suggested requirements as there is no relation to Crusader Eilye Jeyne and the mission Trouble at the Roots. However, as I have been completing the Vigil questline on an alt character, I did immediately recognize her as the Sergeant Eilye Jeyne from the Vigil mission Don't Shoot the Messenger. It would make more sense for the familiarity to come from a mission that she is present in, however I can not confirm what the exact requirements for the other dialogue option to be. Regardless, the first dialogue option shown seems to be the general dialogue option for any character, regardless of mission choices.

As I have only just made my wiki account, I am not currently an autoconfirmed user and cannot yet upload my screenshot.

Cool good spot. No need for a screenshot, your description is clear without how about we stick a verify tag on that section and try and come up with a few more data points. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 21:29, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
Could you confirm which story options your Human Guardian did before this mission? -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 21:48, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
I've got a vigil ranger who hasn't reached this bit of the story yet - could push her through to chapter 8. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 21:51, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
Sure. For my character choices, I chose Commoner, Dead Sister, and Let an Innocent Die. In Chapter 1, my split decision was Arson at the Orphanage. In Chapter 2, my split decision was Seek Logan's Aid. In Chapter 3, I chose Brute Force, Track the Seraph, and Speaker of the Dead as my split choice options. At the end, I joined Order of Whispers, playing through The Trap. In Chapter 4, I chose Thrown Off Guard. For Chapter 5, I chose to help the Quaggans, where my split decision was Pastkeeper. In Chapter 6, my split decision was Early Parole. In Chapter 7, I played through Munition Acquisition on the split path for Let an Innocent Die. Finally, in Chapter 8, my decisions leading up to Stealing Light were Close the Eye, Estate of Decay, and Ossuary of Unquiet Dead. - Lockmoon 20:33, 27 September 2022 (UTC)

I have looked into it and edited out the verify request. As User:Lockmoon mentioned, I'm pretty sure the dialogue depends on whether the character is from the Vigil or not. For archival purposes here's the hidden text that used to be in the article with submissions from other users:

Causes option 1 "Your reputation precedes you, Commander"...

Causes option 2 "Commander, good to see you"...

Here's an overview of what I got and the notable story and character choices:

Character Race Gender Personality P1 P2 Order Minor race Fear P3 P4 P5 Variant in "Stealing Light"
Roselyr Sylvari Female Charisma White Stag Where Life Goes Vigil Hylek Innocent Close Starving Ossuary 2 Commander
Jorcastha Human Male Charisma Noble Unknown Parents Vigil Hylek Dishonor Close Decay Shipment 2 Commander
Virezen Sylvari Male Ferocity Green Knight Where Life Goes Whispers Skritt Suffer Close Starving Ossuary 1 Your reputation
Daynja Norn Female Ferocity Blacked Out Mists Priory Grawl Innocent Close Decay Shipment 1 Your reputation
Naolle Human Female Charisma Street Rat Circus Whispers Skritt Suffer Close Decay Ossuary 1 Your reputation
Mir Silverfur Charr Female Ferocity Iron Legion Loyal Soldier Whispers Ogre Innocent Through Starving Shipment 1 Your reputation
Cearandul Sylvari Female Charisma Shield Moon Right to Grow Priory Hylek Innocent Through Decay Ossuary 1 Your reputation
Ludern C Human Female Dignity Noble Unknown Parents Whispers Quaggan Innocent Close Starving Shipment 1 Your reputation
Virkh Asura Male Dignity Statics Transatmospheric Whispers Grawl Suffer Through Starving Ossuary 1 Your reputation

From a lore/story perspective, as Lockmoon mentioned it makes sense that the introduction is more formal when Jeyne doesn't know the commander, but instead is friendlier after having carried out some missions together. Thanks for pointing it out and helping improve the quality of the article. Myriada (talk) 22:15, 16 December 2022 (UTC)
