If Snaff was the one in Destinys Edge, then why does it all ways show Zojja in it? Gschmechel25 03:16, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

i have no doubt we will find out in the next book, edge of destiny ArthasShadowsong 03:32, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

From the interview released today I'd say he's^ right 107.9.231.4 17:11, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Now that we know everything...[edit]

May the Eternal Alchemy rest his great soul forever. He was a fantastic character, and one that showed the best of what an asura could be like. Wise, polite, friendly, charmingly self-deprecating, optimistic, and of course brilliant. Edge of Destiny did an excellent job in depicting his death as the tremendous loss to the world that it really was. Arshay Duskbrow 22:36, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

His Thoughts[edit]

I personally like his thoughts on the design flaws of mosquito's. -- Ocarinamaster 17:51, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Mesmer?[edit]

Isn't Snaff a mesmer? Besides golemancy, he specializes in the magic of mind control, although I realize EoD never explicitly calls him a mesmer. And I guess we'll never get to see in-game :((( 71.70.143.47 15:47, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

His form of mind manipulation (not really solely control), however, was through powerstones and golems. That's not how real mesmers do their work. He was a pretender... an awesome pretender. -- Konig/talk 16:07, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
Maybe that's just how Asuran Mesmers do things. I would think that Human Mesmers and Asuran Mesmers do things a little differently. For one thing Human Mesmers pray to Lyssa, and the Asura follow the Eternal Alchemy. If you were a Mesmer and know how to work a powerstone in a way to give your powers a boost, wouldn't you do that? Copper Legray 20:38, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
Now the game is out it's quite clear that the vast majority of Asura use magical devices to create spells and effects rather than an "innate power", so yeah, Snaff is pretty much a classic example of an Asuran Mesmer. But still no point putting that on the page as it is conjecture even if solid conjecture. The writer did a good enough job of leaving the pieces there for readers to work it out. --94.76.168.253 11:29, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

Pictures[edit]

A recent GuildCast article features the first known images of Snaff (in Eir made statute form). http://guildcast.wordpress.com/2011/06/28/its-good-to-be-norn-hoelbrak-hunters-hearth-stonewrights-steading-and-kegball/ https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-tT4NBHhb4gI/Tgnfzh-o2kI/AAAAAAAAAIU/fCpcOsY6HUQ/s800/Gw2Demo%2525202011-06-23%25252017-32-39-65.jpg Not sure if this is proper to be added to the wiki, but at least now we can statisfy some people's curiosity. 04:00, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

Sounds like a fine idea, I'll upload a picture now. Do you think these statues would have been carved by Eir? -- aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 08:08, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
So where is this statue actually at in the game? Ramei Arashi 01:11, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
I think it's somewhere between Eir's lodge and Hoelbrak. Don't quote me on that though. Konig/talk 04:05, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

Disappointing[edit]

One asura with a golem made out of magic sand could have killed Kralkatorik?? Did Anet forget that their dragons are gigantic monstrosities rivaling the gods themselves? I just can't believe that after so many years of looking forward to these dragons, one of them was already nearly offed by some magic mind dust. Can someone fill me in on how this battle goes down in the book? (I don't mind spoilers) 69.116.18.247 15:13, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

I think that is fine. Mind controls and a mighty spear to kill the dragon fits. What d'you want? Some necromancer killing the dragon with flesh golem? eh no. They fail because Logan leaves 'em while fighting. He gets called by the Queen to protect her from the invaders. The other DE members cannot hold the ground and Snaff gets killed before Rytlock gets the spear into the dragon. 88.152.231.82 15:27, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
Kralkatorrik was fighting against:
  • A group well versed in fighting dragon champions (they killed three dragon champions)
  • A spear made from Kralkatorrik's own body (following the old archetype of using one's own power against them - keep in mind this is like using diamond to cut diamond)
  • Kralkatorrik's champion
  • A magical device to access Kralkatorrik's mind, which was powered by Kralkatorrik's own crystalized blood (which were basically uber power crystals).
  • Let's not forget that Kralkatorrik was still groggy from a multi-millenium nap.
And he still managed to win. Anet didn't really make him weak or anything. It was far more than "one asura with a golem made out of magic sand."
A run down of the battle (SPOILERS) is that the group used Glint's sanctuary which has 3 exits as a defense point (as IP above me pointed out, while they're preparing Logan leaves to save his girlfriend). When Kralkatorrik attacks, Glint fights back putting a laurel0 or some such onto Kralky's head - said laurel was made out of Kralkatorrik's crystallized blood (like how Primordus while hibernating "bled magic" in Eye of the North, Kralkatorrik's blood acts as super-powered power crystals, thus making Snaff's golemancy a lot stronger) - Glint dies in the process of doing this. Because the laurel is on Kralkatorrik, Snaff is then able to enter the dragon's mind while the others (Eir and Gram; Caithe and Rytlock; and Zojja in a golem) defend the three points from minions - Snaff is, repeatedly, almost turned into a branded himself until he figures out how Kralkatorrik's mind ticks (so to speak) and is eventually able to hold the dragon down (via making it harder for it to move). Rytlock, with the spear made from one of Kralkatorrik's spines (the only thing able to pierce Kralkatorrik's skin aka a wanna-be dues ex machina), charges at Kralky but minions get past Caithe and kill Snaff before Rytlock can kill the dragon. This all happens over ~6 chapters (shared with Logan's actions in Ebonhawke). Konig/talk 02:53, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
Fucking Marysue. --Boro 10px‎ 09:13, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
be awesome once we fought him if the laurel was still on and he never noticed it :D Getefix 21:46, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

The sand golem had nothin to do with Kralk. Glint dragon tooth was 'yolked' with Kralk's blood infused with power crystals, it glints bite that injected the power stones into krak's bloodstream. It's also interesting to note that after the battle Caith alone in the crystal desert collected any remnants of krak's blood spilled durring the prior battle. The Laural is kinda like a head mount that Zojja and Snaff wear to operate the golems or other forms powered by Snaff's unique micro power crystals. I would also consider his profession more similar to an engineer, as his works are technical and actual mechanical means of operation (described as 'energy fields' in the book). Further his intrusion of others (and inanimate objects) beings is direct. Ie like a puppet master pulling actual strings, rather than delusions or illusions. Snaff's Rival[edit]

I've read the book, but I forgot the name of the Asuran that acted as Snaff's rival. The one who's invention helped defeat the Destroyer of Life, which got him put on the Arcane Council in Snaff's place. Does anyone happen to remember or do I need to search through the book to find it? I am only asking because I am wondering if you meet him ingame as a council member. If so, it may be worth mentioning on Snaff's page. BioMasterZap 17:38, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

I did a quick search for you and I'm quite sure it's master Klab. --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 18:37, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

Edit request[edit]

Request to add a new notes sections as such:

==Notes==
[[File:Eir and Snaff.jpg|thumb|250px|Snaff lying dead in Eir's arms.]]
* In the concept art image of Snaff (seen to the right), he can be seen with two of the arm pieces from Asura Cultural Tier 3 Light armor - on his right arm is a blue device, and on his left is a red. This corresponds with Zojja and Kudu's armors; Zojja has a blue device on her right arm, while Kudu has a red device on his left. Furthermore, during the cinematic with said concept art image, Zojja is lacking her arm device, despite otherwise having her usual full Asura Cultural Tier 3 light armor.

Also remove the categories for Asura and Destiny's Edge, as the infobox will auto-categorize them. Konig 17:00, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

Some info[edit]

Anyone have any idea what profession he is? Or is he just one of those monster only things with no real class ~~Trevor95251 22:11, 29 September 2018 (UTC)

Technically, no NPC has a specific profession. Some are told via lore or the devs go through enough effort to ensure they're shown in skill choice, but no NPC is limited by profession or class.
That said, he wields a rifle and tinkers with golems like Taimi. He'd either count as engineer or simply golemancer. But he also does a lot of mind stuff, so he could probably count as a En/Me dual profession like Canach is a bit of a W/En dual profession. Konig (talk) 00:14, 30 September 2018 (UTC)
