That is a very nice shield in the picture. The only cooler shield we've seen so far is probably that Golden Warthog shield we saw today... -173.148.207.17 05:49, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

No skills confirmed?[edit]

What about Shield Stance? We know it exsists, and what else would--or could--it be attached to? Zolann The IrreverentUser Zolann The Irreverent Mysterious Summoning Stone.png 22:47, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

As Naoroji said, thanks... Aquadrizzt My Contributions 23:44, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Wait wait wait. We know offhands only give you 2 skills on your bar, so how can a warrior get 3 different skills from a shield? I'd say Block has been renamed to Shield Stance. --hexalMy 12:04, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
Where was 'Shield Bash' actually mentioned,...? --Naoroji User Naoroji Golem - Green.jpg 12:36, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
[1] Shield Bash and Block are both mentioned. --hexalMy 14:28, 11 June 2010

Hmm, Yea, I think Block was renamed to Shield Stancce, or it's just a utility skill. Not sure. But in my opinion they would do the same thing. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:AsuranSylvari (talk).

I think Block and Shield Stance are different.. Some skills will probably require you to wear a shield to be activated, so my guess is that you gain Block and Shield Bash when wearing a shield, but can also choose to bring a Shield Skill (e.g. Shield Stance) in the remaining 5 slots. In that case it makes sense to me that it is mentioned in this page.. Shill 18:18, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Offhand skill limit[edit]

When you equip an offhand, it gives you two skills (slots 4+5). Those skills are predetermined by the type (focus, warhorn, torch, shield) and profession. So how can the warrior have 3 skills tied to shield? Aquadrizzt (talk)(contribs) 20:26, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

In this they wrote, that Block and Shield Bash are the slot 4-5 skill. I think Shield Stance a freely chosen skill, because it's a stance, but need a shield to use it.91.82.182.125 20:44, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
Sign your comments please. And also how should we write that in ht article? Aquadrizzt (talk)(contribs) 20:40, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
According to this guy Bash and Stance are the shield skills. So Block is utility or (as I've said before) probably renamed. --hexalMy 07:46, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Armor?[edit]

I'm curious, does the shield still provide an armor bonus, or are the two skills the only thing it does? Similarly, do focii provide an energy bonus or just effect skills?--Will Greyhawk 04:25, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

IIRC it only provides the skills. --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 05:58, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Maybe the developers changed it by now but shields (can?) increase defense. [[Simple Shield]] for example. | Corvus 10:29, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
It used to increases defense, but after the attributes redesign this may have changed. We cannot tell until PAX (unless announed in the meantime). - Infinite - talk 15:48, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
PAX has come and gone, any one got the answer to this question yet?--Lord Braska 15:20, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
Shields still provide an armor bonus. --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 15:27, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
Thank you! My Turtle Engineer will live!--Lord Braska 15:39, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Profession limit?[edit]

On the info page, it just mentions the warrior, guardian and engineer. Does that mean only those professions can use shields? 50.132.200.73 11:07, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Yes. Gnarf 11:08, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Traits[edit]

Should we add Missile Deflection to the traits? Redd 00:36, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

It doesn't relate to shields specifically, i.e. it isn't in effect just because you're wielding a shield. It triggers on blocking, thus it is listed there. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 01:29, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

Confused[edit]

Why does this affect the revenant's dual wield trait and not the war's? I don't think it should affect either as you're not really "dual wielding" if you have a shield. 86.19.235.206 21:31, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
