Sclerite Karka Shell Mystic Forge ingredients

1 Sclerite Karka Shell 250 Karka Shell 100 Passion Flower 50 Glob of Ectoplasm

You use a sclerite karka shell(plus other ingredients) in the mystic forge to make a sclerite karka shell? (174.28.90.92 00:20, 15 May 2013 (UTC))

That is apparently the recipe for an Ascended version of the Sclerite Karka Shell. Felix Omni Signature.png 00:33, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, you get an ascended version when forging. poke | talk 00:40, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

Separate Pages[edit]

Would it be better to split the exotic and ascended versions into different wiki pages since they are effectively different items with the same skin? CosmicChopsticks (talk) 14:11, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

Infusion slot is intentional design?[edit]

Relyk has removed the anomaly tag around the note talking about how this non-ascended item has an infusion slot, saying that it's intentional design. I'm not actually sure if that prevents it from being an "anomaly" even if true (it doesn't if we're using the everyday meaning of "anomaly"), but more to the point: how do you know it's intentional design? Has there been an official comment to that effect? If so, perhaps it should be included as a reference on the page? --Felbryn (talk) 07:31, 25 May 2013 (UTC)

A {{bug}} is something that wasn't intended or desired by the developers. An {{anomaly}} is something that behaves differently from expected, whether intentionally or not. The idea of tagging anomalies is to call attention to them, highlighting that the information inside is different from other notes in the section. Removing the tag makes it seem that it's typical to find rare or exotic items with an infusion slot and no upgrade slot. 75.37.16.186 08:22, 25 May 2013 (UTC)
An anomaly is something that might warrant fixing. This is just a change to the mechanics of slots, and so doesn't need the template. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 08:29, 25 May 2013 (UTC)
Intentional change or not, this is an irregular item. Sounds like a good candidate for the anomaly tag. --JonTheMon (talk) 14:29, 25 May 2013 (UTC)
That makes it a good candidate for a note, not an anomaly...--Relyk ~ talk < 20:02, 25 May 2013 (UTC)
You didn't answer my original question, Relyk: how do you know it's intentional? Also, new question: what do you think "anomaly" means? Because by the definition in my dictionary ("something that deviates from what is standard, normal, or expected"), this is a textbook example of one. --Felbryn (talk) 21:24, 25 May 2013 (UTC)
I'm in agreement with Felbryn, Jon, and the IP here. Anomalies don't have to be unintentional, they're just different from what would be expected based on existing patterns. @Alex: "something that might warrant fixing" is a bug. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 21:31, 25 May 2013 (UTC)
I'm not going to win this argument ^^.--Relyk ~ talk < 22:45, 25 May 2013 (UTC)

(Adding my 2 cents worth to the topic, since I just saw it) Alex, you are wrong with "an anomaly is something that might warrant fixing", and apparently do not know why there is a distinction between bug and anomaly. As many have stated before, anomaly just means operates differently than expected. If a compass operates by pointing to magnetic north in 99% of the world, except for a couple of spots, in those spots it is an anomaly, not something that means the compass is broke and needs to be fixed. 69.183.26.55 07:41, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Account bound post-equip as well?[edit]

The ascended version notes that it remains account bound even after equipping, is this the case with the normal version as well? --Kamui Hyuga (talk) 04:47, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

Yes--Relyk ~ talk < 05:48, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

New Item[edit]

Someone more skilled than me should add the new Sclerite Karka Shell. The item available in the Festival of Four Winds has different stats than this one, despite the identical name. 98.248.228.142 21:14, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
