Ooh, nice. Where did the icons come from? --Emelend 02:11, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Oh, the icon sheet. *foot in mouth* --Emelend 02:18, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
There are some other icons on the icon sheet that look like weapons, but I don't know what their names might be. If someone can assist, we might be able to scrounge another page up. This page is ok like this I hope? It's mainly visual. The icons link to the weapon and when hovered over you can see what they are. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 02:20, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Currently, I think this page is just fine. In the future, it may serve as a sort of gallery for Ghastly equipment. It may need a name change though, perhaps just "Ghastly". --Emelend 02:25, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
The page is fine. I think it is fun that everything in game seems to have a hand drawn icon. I haven't seen the name of the other weapon sets they have on the page. I only know that some of them match one of the weapon set concepts from the GDC presentations. -- Aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 03:31, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Looking more closely you have longbow/shortbow and staff/scepter around the other way from what I did. I used GDC mouse overs to give names to the icons I uploaded. Did you do the same? I'm a little worried I'm loosing my mind. :) -- Aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 03:53, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
It's entirely possible that I have things mixed up. I'll have to go back and check Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 04:02, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Grrrrr, these images are pissing me off now. The bows do indeed need to be swapped, but my browser is a pain in the ass. I uploaded what I though were the different images. Then both look the same, I purge and they still are the same. I restart the browser and they still look the same, so I figured I uploaded the wrong image. Turns out I didn't, but I can only see this after I upload a new one. Here is where we can see the bow. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 13:46, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
I've found that Ctrl-F5 usually does the trick when looking at the image page. That should make your browser perform a hard refresh. --Emelend 02:17, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) This, children, is called an orgasm... Aquadrizzt (talk)(contribs) 00:40, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Still, dual-wielding two of these axes at night is not as awesome as dual-wielding two Stygian Reavers. EiveTalk 01:19, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Wow. Normally I find skins not worth bothering with, but I really love this. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone ran around with these and it would still look neat Greep 20:13, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Damage[edit]

So, given the nature of "stealing health", would it be safe to assume that these weapons do more damage at night than during the day? 68.144.77.185 07:30, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

From what I make of it, it removes the healing effect and replaces it with a life stealing effect, so if you hit 50 at day the enemy loses 50 health, at night the enemy loses 50+10 health. Though this is only what I think makes sense, while reading the page.--Mark, User talk:Markisbeest het Beest 13:03, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, what mark said, in any(or rather any I've played) mmo's where "stealing health" exists, it basically just adds damage to the damage dealt, can't see how it would work otherwise. However, I do hope this "stealing health" is just that, rather than it becoming a vampiric weapon like in GW1.(Meaning there is no health-drain effect) Seeing that it only works during the night, that kinda balances it out, right? :P Balthazad 17:33, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
If we are talking about other games here then many of them do not differentiate between weapon damage and life-stealing but rather you steal certain percent of the damage you dealt, in this case it may be a fixed number instead of perceptual fraction. Question remains wither life stealing will be as added damage on top of weapon damage like it is in GW1 or be part of it. Making you always dealing At least 10 dmg when you hit something at night. Missing torch?[edit]

I can't find a torch in the night picture...--Mark, User talk:Markisbeest het Beest 13:05, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Cant find it either, was so hoping for a blue-ish fiery glow. DemonicFahrirShadow Fiend.png 13:14, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
Maybe the necessity for the torch is lost when everything has torch brightness at night. Aquadrizzt (talk)(contribs) 16:01, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Icons[edit]

Do they need to be present here anymore? Aquadrizzt (talk)(contribs) 02:46, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

I don't see why not, I kind of like how they are. Also, while a conversation is going here, should we take images of the weapons from videos of the demos and put them here? EiveTalk 02:48, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Good idea. Aquadrizzt (talk)(contribs) 04:44, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Also, about the icons: File_talk:Ghastly_Dagger.jpg. - Infinite - talk 09:33, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Table Attributes[edit]

IMO, we should just display the attributes we know the weapon set to have... Aquadrizzt (talk)(contribs) 15:55, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

But the entire set will have all attributes! Even if not all attributes are used, the full table is a nice oversight, imo. :) The shield is going to be a pain with power + defense values... :( - Infinite - talk 15:59, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

It's official![edit]

@31:00 We can see the inventory wide open. WHAT is the first icon? Exactly. ArenaNet has a surprise for us Ghastly lovers. - Infinite - talk 20:31, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Scratch that, it's not a Ghastly-style icon. :( - Infinite - talk 20:48, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

This+Guardian=Win[edit]

This will make Guardians look more evil if you're having problem with that in the future. I'm definately getting these. :D --AdventurerPotatoe User AdventurerPotatoe sigimage.gif - 17:17, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

Red vs. Green[edit]

I have noticed in some of my search for info that various stat boosts are different colors. For example:
Ghastly Warhorn

  • +24 Strength (Green)
  • +18 Perception (Red)
  • +18 Vitality (Red).

Anyone know what this implies? Aquadrizzt (talk)(contribs) 00:54, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

I do. The red variables indicate the boosts on the item is worse than what you currently have equipped, whereas green is better. - Infinite - talk 13:23, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

Pattern[edit]

Does anyone else see it? :) - Infinite - talk 16:16, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

No. --'Mai Yi' talk 16:17, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
No. Greep 09:17, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
yep. --BriarUser Briar Sig 3.jpgThe Spider 11:39, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
So, what is it? I can't figure it out... Also, why is there no indication of the day/night bonuses? Were they scraped? I wanna figure out the effects of other sets too...Xhosant 06:10, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

how to obtain?[edit]

you think the catacombs beneath ascalon city is gonna be a dungeon? if so it'd make sense that these weapons would come from there - who wants to raid it >:) Getefix 23:11, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

with today's post on the catacombs, you can clearly see the ghost npc's using these weapons all throughout the video. We also no that each dungeon has a unique armor and weapon set that you cannot get anywhere else in the game...according to jeff's article. Is that enough to mention it on the front page? --Moto Saxon 19:49, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

more special weapons[edit]

wouldnt it be awesome if they made more things like the ghastly weapons, such as fiery weapons or something that change appearance according to the time or location you are in. i am definatly going to try get these though =] Eculiny 01:15, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

This being one weapon set, we've seen plenty of other interesting weapon concept galleries. I am sure higher level sets also have day and night features, and more. - Infinite - talk 01:20, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
do you have any links to concepts for other weapon sets? Eculiny 01:42, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

Don't forget about the Centaur Weapon Set. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 14:15, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
And the best one so far... Bitter 14:23, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

Should it be noted[edit]

That Ascalonian ghosts wield these? Aqua (T|C) 03:18, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

I had also noticed that and added the current note. I think it's fine if you want to add more info. --Moto Saxon 03:41, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

Still true?[edit]

"Royal Ascalonian weapons heal the user during the day and steal health from enemies at night." - Is this function still in the game? I thought this effect was replaced with sigils and such like... ~ ♥ Kailani! ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ 20:44, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Not true anymore. I edited the page. ;)

rare vs exotic[edit]

could we have 2 different lists one for the level 35 version and one for the level 80 versions?, the greatwsord shows the level 80 while torch shows 35 :/ Getefix 15:22, 13 October 2012 (UTC)

Skin changes[edit]

Not sure but I think these weaps change skin at night? Is this true and if it is, it should be noted on the page. Mohdalmosa 11:09, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

It is mentioned in the article, in both the summary and the image description. User Kirbman signature.png talk 18:13, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

These were called "Ghastly" weapons during beta[edit]

They still are. Not sure why the page calls them "Royal Ascalonian Weapons". They are called Ghastly. Brakkis 14:53, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

Is there a name switch between night and day? :p --Chieftain Alex 15:05, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
No, they are simply called Ghastly. Go to the vendor to purchase them. Ghastly Sword, Ghastly Pistol, Ghastly Dagger, etc. Once you purchase and equip them, they are still called Ghastly. There is nothing on them that even says Royal Ascalonian. The armor is called Ascalonian but the weapons remain Ghastly. Brakkis 16:29, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
and as ive mentioned before, seems like the lower level ones no longer exist Getefix 18:02, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
Right then. Move this page and the talk page, as well as all the weapons, to Ghastly weapons. Move all the icons and screenshots to "ghastly". --Chieftain Alex 18:37, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

Different Skin[edit]

Could we also show the secondary skin on the individual pages? (The day and the nite skins) ||-- OurDelusions 15:07, 8 December 2012

Bugs[edit]

As posted on the Ghastly Longbow page, this weapon stops animating if you attack with it (during the night ofc). It will still glow blue. I can only confirm this as a ranger, don't know if warriors have the same problem. I also have the Ghastly Axe, which, when trown, disappears along with your back item and off-hand weapon (in my case, a Ghastly Warhorn). Casting warhorn skills does not gives this effect. If anyone has the same bug(s), please confirm it, report in ingame and report it on the forums. Thanks. :) Qiff 17:22, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

The bug with the longbow has been removed, seemingly with the Battle For Lion's Arch update. Animations different too, Instead of leaving a trail behind you, the 'ghostlynest' for lack of a better term flows along the length of the bow. Looks better this way IMO. Not sure yet how the animations of the other weapons look.--Will Greyhawk (talk) 20:46, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Remnants in the game[edit]

As you now, the game's files keep lots of junk and remnants from old stuff. I found this one: [&ByUAAAA=]. Looks like the old effect bound to the initial versions of these weapons. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 05:24, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
