Anise[edit]

Where is it stated that Anise is a member of the collective? I thought the organisation was fabricated as backstory to Kasmeer and nothing else was mentioned of it? Can we get a source stating Anise is a member? To add to this, the source linked on this page doesn't mention the Mesmer Collective at all. For all we know the Mesmer Collective is a knitting group and their two cats that dabble in mesmer magic, not actually a powerful group of experienced mesmers. There seems to be assumptions made between the interview linked and the vagueness of the Mesmer Collective. This is a bizarre concept considering mesmer magic is practiced across multiple races and one unifying group of powerful mesmers would need to be multi-racial and we have no context to think that's a thing at the moment. This article should be stripped back to the bare bones that is confirmed in game or we make wiki content unreliable. 58.110.35.235 04:02, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

The interview doesn't use the term "mesmer collective" because it wasn't called such until nearly a year after the interview. It does mention the "mesmer community", however. ("Only the most skilled of mesmers can do this, and mesmers don’t talk about this ability. If people were to find out that mesmers could do this, it would prejudice people against mesmers and damage the trust and love mesmers work so hard to inspire in others."
"No documentation of this ability exists outside the Mesmer community because the targets of this kind of spell don’t realize they’ve been duped. No one else can corroborate their experience either, so…it’s often explained away as battle fatigue. Even within the mesmer community, knowledge of this kind of spell is “need to know” only, which means only the most elder and experienced are initiated into the circle.") As for Anise, I'm fairly sure it was mentioned in Season 2 as why Kasmeer was able to get in contact with Anise for setting up the world summit - being a commoner at that point, Kasmeer should be unable to simply waltz up to the Master Exemplar of the Shining Blade and say "hey, I need a favor!" It'd make far more sense if they're part of the same group. And we know that the Mesmer Collective is more than "a knitting group and their two cats" because if the PC is a mesmer there's unique dialogue about the Mesmer Collective in one of the Camp Resolve instances with Braham and why the PC isn't a member despite being a prominent mesmer. I agree with anon; this article is far too speculative. While I think there's no harm in mentioning the super-powerful spells thing here so long as we make it very clear we're only suggesting it as a possible thing the Collective safeguards, mentioning Anise is too misleading. In Rallying Call, Kas offers no explanation as to why she can get in contact with Anise. In Party Politics, Anise tells Kas "you'll always be a noble in my eyes", and then gets her to sniff out a treasonous minister before agreeing to speak to the Queen about the World Summit. It's pretty clear that Anise helped Kas simply because she regards her as a valuable asset. Sure, perhaps shared membership in the Collective is part of the reason for this--I'd be surprised if Anise wasn't a member--but at present we have no way of knowing. —Idris User Idris signature.png 17:18, 9 September 2019 (UTC)

Archival Records: Legavo, the Binding of Wills[edit]

In Archival Records: Legavo, the Binding of Wills, "Mabon's eccentric little network of mesmers" are mentioned. I wonder, could it be the Collective? --Debesyla (talk) 22:47, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
