Talk:Mabon Market

Does this place's name cycle with the wheel of the year? I only saw it after the recent turn to Mabon and didn't know if it was just a coincidence. Are there any other places with similarly themed names?

I hate to pick on the trivia here, but it states that the name Mabon is related to "the celtic celebration of the autmunal[sic] equinox." This might be at best vaguely accurate. Mabon is the Wiccan sabat which celebrates the autumnal equinox (https://www.bpl.org/blogs/post/the-origins-and-practices-of-mabon/). Mabon ap Modron is a Welsh mythological figure which might be considered "celtic," but I cannot find a connection to an equinox (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mabon_ap_Modron). Whether this trivia in its present form accurately relates to the naming of this zone is unclear to me, particularly now that SotO has introduced us to a character named Mabon who might or might not have once visited or influenced this Caledon Forest region. I thought I should speak up before I directly involve myself with editing the trivia. --ZeeWabbit (talk) 18:52, 13 September 2023 (UTC)

OK, so ... in my SotO travels, I came across Mabon's Aged Journal, which clearly documents his involvement with Mabon Market. I believe this suggests that any trivia regarding the name of Mabon belongs on Mabon's page, not on this one. I suppose there might be an argument for the trivia here referencing our (at present) newly-met Mabon ... but that strikes me as a potential spoiler as well as not fully qualifying for "Trivia" due to the aforementioned Journal entry. So I'm going to take a leap here and remove this trivia and open a feedback regarding the source of the name on the Mabon page. If that was the wrong thing to do, my apologies. --ZeeWabbit (talk) 18:02, 16 September 2023 (UTC)
