Feedback 2016/03/27[edit]

Corruption tree is missing one of its GM traits. Maybe list traits by order you buy them in instead of alphabetically within tier?--12.167.75.77 08:52, 27 March 2016 (UTC)

Caching issue, all it needed was forcing the trait page to update itself.--Relyk ~ talk < 09:39, 27 March 2016 (UTC)

POSSIBLE BUGS: Revenant - Retribution trait line[edit]

There appears to be a couple of bugs in the Revenant Retribution trait line:

[Steadfast Rejuvenation] Per current description of the trait, healing does not occur as specified when "hit" at the new GW2 update of 100%;

[Rite of the Great Dwarf] Instead of turning to dwarf-stone, the Dome of Mist is activated although not selected elsewhere;

These bugs were tested while in the Straits of Devastation standing idle allowing a single Risen to attack. Only Devastation, Invocation, and Retribution were selected to examine some of the recent updates and experimentations with builds. No other zones were tested, however.

It would be interesting to see feedbacks on possible conditions or situations that may be in effect that I may be overlooking. --Mon-nel (talk) 22:13, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

Trait line order[edit]

Copied from Talk:Invocation with all responses due to recent edits regarding the order and their reverts

The wiki order is:

  1. Corruption — Legend: Legendary Demon Stance
  2. Retribution — Legend: Legendary Dwarf Stance
  3. Salvation — Legend: Legendary Centaur Stance
  4. Devastation — Legend: Legendary Assassin Stance
  5. Invocation — general, improving all legends

while the in-game the order is:

  1. Corruption — Legend: Legendary Demon Stance
  2. Retribution — Legend: Legendary Dwarf Stance
  3. Salvation — Legend: Legendary Centaur Stance
  4. Invocation — general, improving all legends
  5. Devastation — Legend: Legendary Assassin Stance

Edit, added at 09:08, 4 February 2021 (UTC): Furthermore, the in-game order when selecting legends doesn't match the trait line order:

  1. Legendary Dwarf Stance — trait line: Retribution
  2. Legendary Demon Stance — trait line: Corruption
  3. Legendary Centaur Stance — trait line: Salvation
  4. Legendary Assassin Stance — trait line: Devastation

Note that in-game Invocation is above Devastation although Devastation is legend-related and Invocation is affecting all legends/legends swapping. For example we can compare it with Elementalist, its four attunements and its four related attumentment trait lines plus the fifth Arcane as last trait line. Here, Invocation could be compared to Arcane.

Any thoughts? Should we keep the current wiki order (actually before I changed it today on several pages), i.e. sorting them in a logical way, or should we mirror the in-game order? --Tolkyria (talk) 11:35, 26 August 2020 (UTC)

Not weighing in on either side, but it seems the in-game order mirrors the API order of the specializations. Greener (talk) 16:32, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
Copied the discussion from Talk:Invocation.
In my opinion we should simply documenting how it is in-game and not how it should be (we all know that the order isn't optimal, even if it's sometimes hard to accept). Otherwise, I think choosing a more "logic" order isn't straight forward at all:
  • Sort first by elite specialization (with core spec) and then alphabetically by legend.
  • Sort first by elite specialization (with core spec) and then alphabetically by trait line.
  • Sort by in-game legend select order.
  • Sort by in-game trait line order but move Invocation at the bottom of the 5 core trait lines.
None of these options sound appealing to me (and none of these options is the actual in-game order), all are somehow constructed and might leave more questions than solving, furthermore picking one option means to discard all others. Hence, I would suggest to simply stick to the in-game order (probably add a see also link to the related legend page for each trait line). --Tolkyria (talk) 09:08, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
I don't particularly mind. Whatever order we do pick for this page top-to-bottom should however be the same order as used in the spec nav from left-to-right.
Personally I'd rather have "Sort first by elite specialization (with core spec) and then alphabetically by trait line" - I honestly thought this was what we did on every specialization page, but I've never looked closely apparently. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 17:49, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
The wiki trait line order for all professions (leaving Revenant aside for now) is the original in-game order when all five trait lines have been displayed at once and couldn't be moved (before the June 23, 2015 game update), since Revenant was introduced with HoT (October 23, 2015) we can't fall back on this original order. Fun fact: I'm still sorting my trait lines in this original order in-game.
The in-game order isn't alphabetically at all, e.g. for Elementalist the trait line order is: Fire, Air, Water, Earth, Arcane (note that the attunement skill order is Fire, Water, Air, Earth).
So summing up, all other pages are using the exact in-game order, which in my opinion we should keep for nostalgic reasons but also the original devs had good reasons to sort exactly this way.
Sure, having an all-legend trait line (Invocation) inbetween the legend-specific trait lines and not at the bottom feels wierd; but so does simply adding the all-legend trait line at the bottom when the legend select order is also in a different order (demon, dwarf in trait line while dwarf, demon in legend skill select).
I agree, that the nav should match it, I most likely overlooked it. --Tolkyria (talk) 19:15, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
Can I change my mind? I'd forgotten there's a trait selection window on the left (i never use it). Using the order from top to bottom of the ingame Traits menu (Corruption, Retribution, Salvation, Invocation, Devastation, Herald, Renegade) seems a logical answer.
Utility skill order should then match the Slot skills window in terms of the legendary stances.
Or for a curveball we could sort by the API specialization id. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 23:30, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
That's basically the whole point of what I wrote above. But there are the following edits:
That's why I thought I bring it up on the talk page. --Tolkyria (talk) 23:53, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
Stick the decision for the order on a formatting page and I'll enforce it. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 00:52, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
Documented this on Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Trait formatting. —Kvothe (talk) 16:39, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
