The cool green glowing guy from the gamescom vid? (which looks almost the same as that Dhuum concept art) --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 21:23, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Yep!-- Shew 21:24, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
shew once again Kudos to you ^^ --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 21:34, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
This pisses me off, I just now discover Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, play a necromancer in that game, learned http://crawl.chaosforge.org/index.php?title=Lich_form finally, and now GW2 also has it. I'm sure a lot of games have lich form but still, this feels like rubbing salt in a wound, because this is my 87 attempt at beating dungeon crawl.Headache 22:16, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

New Death Shroud instead of Elite?[edit]

In this video they call the old death shroud Lich Form, but on guru post, they say it's an elite skill :S Lokheit 02:29, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

OK, later on the same video they also call Lich Form the elite skill... maybe they said death shroud name wrong? Lokheit 02:31, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
No, Lich form is not death shroud, Lich Form is an elite transformation skill for necromancers completely seperate from death shroud.Headache 08:17, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

at least now we know[edit]

what this is: Wraith Lord concept art.jpg --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 07:50, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

Or do we? Dun dun dunnnnnn. Konig/talk 16:00, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
If i had to guess, I'd say that's Dhuum (identifiable by his famous scythe), probably will be an event or in a dungeon we've yet to see.--Rapid Sausage 22:20, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Rough Skill Translations[edit]

The point in what I'm doing is to get the rough idea of what the skills can do. I've done skill #4 by watching gamescom 2011 videos and translating the ingame german skill description, and putting it in google translator . theres only one word that i can't seem to figure out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dr9W_Qiiw4. 3:45.

german:Beschwert eine Aura verkrüppelung vergeltung und schwache bei in der "nilhei" befindlichem feinden bewirkt

english: Complains a crippling retribution aura and weak effects on foes in the "nilhei" located

Of course the sentence is broken because that one word, "nilhei" (that's what it looks like on the video) screws up the sentence's grammar. My guess that this skill is a pbaoe that cripples foes --Eclipse143 11:14, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

Skill #5. german: lasst alle gegner in der "nilhei" der furcht erzittern........... english: let all opponents tremble in the "nilhei" the fear. This most likely makes foes feel fear in the area. Actually it does, the next 20 seconds or so shows him using the skill causing fear. --Eclipse143 11:22, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
It's "Beschwört eine Aura, die Verkrüppelung, Vergiftung und Schwäche bei in der Nähe befindlichen Gegnern bewirkt.", which translates to "Summons an aura that cripples, poisons and weakens nearby enemies". Edit: darn, forgot to login before signing. Now better. -- Olive 16:09, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

affected by race?[edit]

does anyone know if the form is different for each race? or will a little asura look the same as a giant norn when in the form? --Moto Saxon 18:37, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

As far as I know they all look the same at this moment. --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 19:19, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
I haven't seen a difference either. -User Eive Windgrace Harbinger of the Deceiver.png 21:23, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
That kind of stinks. oh well, can't win 'em all. --Moto Saxon 21:38, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
I guess you will look same regardless of race as you turn into a Lich which I believe is a entirely different race what so ever Phoenixio 11:36, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
"Lich which I believe is a entirely different race" - a lich is simply an undead. Lich Form, I take it via lore, would be taking on the aspect of death. So you're not really changing your species, just the appearance to be more deathly. Konig/talk 16:04, 28 September 2011 (UTC)

Affected by gender[edit]

This needs to be. Methinks the women will not be too pleased by such a powerful elite making them into a giant man.67.181.180.101 20:30, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

I think its cool looking, so not really --Angelkiss User IcyyyBlue Elementalist Blue.png 20:34, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
I'm willing to conditionally support this if the female version is A) kick-ass and B) not a "me too" of the male version. If it's the exact same skin, merely altered for female Necromancers, then no.
Why? I prefer having one awesome skin for both (be it male or female, I really don't care) instead of one awesome skin and a clone of it. "Why does this exist?" "Oh, the women / men wanted their own version." I hate that. The other version never gets the same time, or frankly enthusiasm, as the original. So it's never as good. And having the bad version just make the game look stupid.
Don't twist what I'm saying. I can honestly say if the skin was female, I'd say exactly the same thing. I honestly don't give a flying... sandwich... if totally changing species happens to also change my gender. Give me the epic skin they spent ages working on that's simply incredible. Not a "hurr durr, version #2 of same" which just doesn't have the same impact. User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.png A F K When Needed 22:20, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
Character models and textures do not grow in trees. And it would be silly for any player who wanted that special kind of armor or equipment (which they saw on a character of opposite sex), for example, as they wouldn't end up getting what they really wanted. Mediggo 06:24, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
I hate arguing with someone who agrees with me, but... if you bother making and levelling a Necro just for this and don't bother checking when it takes three seconds to pop the name of the skill into the wiki, you're getting exactly what you deserve. User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.png A F K When Needed 21:15, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
You have a point, but there are still many players who don't use wiki often, in GW1 that is. Mediggo 21:18, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
Then they deserve to be unhappy for eternity. User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.png A F K When Needed 23:02, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
There's also many who don't know of the existence of official or any other wikis. :P Mediggo 05:38, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
Want me to repeat what I just said? :P User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.png A F K When Needed 14:44, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
You can say that again. Mediggo 05:38, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
I agree, and I think we should get female plague and tornado for Ele too --Scol 08:16, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
Another thing to remember is that gender equality is a somewhat large theme in GW2. Mediggo 08:28, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Link to GuildWars 1 Lich[edit]

as "see also" or "trivia"? Rikk Panda the Grape 04:12, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

No. wikipedia:Lich User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.png A F K When Needed 04:16, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
Didn't we used to have a fancy box that said something like "'Guild Wars Wiki' also has an article on/pertaining to ____" ? Rikk Panda the Grape 04:27, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
Yes, and still do, but this is not related to Khilbron in any way. This is as related to gw1:Zoldark the Unholy or gw1:Palawa Joko than it is to Vizier Khilbron. And the only relation is that those three are liches (for more, read the link that AFK linked). Konig/talk 05:00, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
We would be saying "This skill turns you into a Lich. There was at least one Lich in the original Guild Wars." That's not noteworthy.
If the model had an uncanny resemblance to old Khilbron (it doesn't), shit would be different. If Liches were created by ArenaNet (e.g. imagine the skill turned you into a Margonite instead of a Lich), shit would be different.
There's simply nothing worth mentioning here. User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.png A F K When Needed 05:10, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

Lich Face[edit]

I wish his face was less smiley, he looks too cartoonish because of it imo. --MageUser MageMontu sig.pngMontu 08:20, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

I think it's gonna get a little tweak, to make it a butcher smile. It seems a lich needs a bit more scary-being than the awesomesmileyface xD. 83.82.86.117 14:39, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

Notes, bonus health[edit]

Going to change the notes.

Tested health gain as a level 46 necromancer. Went from 8932 to 12743 health, which is a roughly 43% increase. Went to the mists to test it at level 80, went from 26312 to 35472, which is roughly 35% more. Don't quite know how it scales, but it's definitely not double (200%).

Also, your minions die regardless of whether or not you are in PvP.

edit: signing Blix 01:27, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

From what I can tell it doubles your base vitality. Did you have any vitality or health boosting items or effects going when you tested it? 31.52.83.126 16:59, 22 November 2012 (UTC)
First, IP above is correct, BASE vitality is doubled, ignoring bonuses from armor/runes/etc. Second, you can't test this stuff accurately while your level is scaled. Your true base vitality is doubled, and then level scaling adjusts your new, doubled vitality. Same with other attribute modifications from form skills like Become the Bear. Notes - power scaling and weapon strength[edit]

I've updated the main Lich Form page and each weapon skill page (except the Minion mark which does not scale) to reflect base tooltip damage at level 80 and power scaling. The form appears to use a weapon with average strength 952.5 (equal to an exotic dagger or axe) at level 80.

Evidence: I tested by calculating the expected power scalar from the tooltip damage numbers recorded while wielding an Axe, Dagger, Staff and no weapon.

  • Staff (average strength 1048) did not increase damage over Axe or Dagger (952.5) (and the Power gap was only 11 in this case)
  • Having no weapon did not greatly reduce the damage numbers
  • Different amounts of Power only gave the same scalar when Weapon Strength was set to 952.5.

69.196.143.182 14:54, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

Have you tried different rarity weapons? Engineer kits and many bundles get different weapon strength based on equipped weapon rarity (which is always exotic in PvP). I suspect forms work like that too, since they also trigger sigils now. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 15:13, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

Feedback 2015/08/20[edit]

Article says that Lich Form doubles base precision and vitality, adding 926 for a lvl80 character. Base is now 1000, so what is true ? Double (+1000), or +926 (not double) ? --Eowin (talk) 19:02, 20 August 2015 (UTC)

Those numbers were outdated, thanks! G R E E N E R 19:24, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
I concur with G R E E N E R ; it still doubles base vitality, and the numbers for base vitality and precision were just affected. — Foxman525 User Foxman525 Image-User Foxman525 sig.png 03:53, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

they should totally make a combat tonic of this to so you can basically look like the lich and hold a weapon like in the concept art the lich is holding a greatsword
