Level rewards[edit]

I'm currently leveling several characters with tomes of knowledge. I will update the table as it goes. For now it's a bit messy. I made a table with 10 columns : level, common rewards and unlocks, 8 profession-specific rewards. Until we get more info to see if some items are identical for all professions, I put the equipement items in the profession columns and everything else in the common column. Need :

full info from lvl2 to 80 for each profession
   better formatting !!!
review all the info to add proper links to other wiki pages

I'll now list rewards for a ranger and an engineer. If they are the same, I'll replace the columns in the table (3 armor weights instead of 8 professions)

Eowin (talk) 20:02, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

Made a better table after fully leveling a second character : all rewards and stats are identical, only the armor weights and the weapons depend on profession. Still requires a slightly better formatting. I'm going to create and level-up a character from lvl 1 to 23 and complete the table. Eowin (talk) 21:50, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

For the weapons and armor, did you take note of skins? Any that weren't the typical soft/iron weapons and the typical loot armor sets? - Tanetris (talk) 14:39, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
The lvl 65 (No runes) and 71 (Sup. Pack/Citadel/Vampirism) exotics on my guardian were all Scallywag. Also note that they cannot be salvaged. User Karuro Sig.png Karuro 10:06, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
Oh just to mention an update: all items on your "need" list were done ;) --Txon Atana - (talk) 03:00, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

Possible source information[edit]

This video is someone using scrolls to get from 1-80 I think it would be useful for creating this page. Perhaps we can add the hints somewhere. Anzenketh (talk) 19:56, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

Yes, the guy posted the link in my reddit post here. I don't know if it's a good wiki practive tu put a link to the video or to my screenshots in the article ? Eowin (talk) 09:27, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

Level 6 Reward variance[edit]

When a character I just leveled hit this one in place of 1 Unidentified Dye I was given 1 Transmutation Charge. There may be a table of random items a player can receive. XeroKitsune (talk) 21:32, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

I didn't receive an Unidentified Dye at Level 6, either. Might have been a Transmutation Charge, instead...I really don't remember. Inculpatus cedo (talk) 22:30, 10 September 2014 (UTC)Inculpatus cedo
I received a charge too. poke | talk 22:39, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
I just did a re-run, it looks like they give you a 1 Unidentified Dye and 1 Transmutation Charge, but in fact it's just information explaining them. You just get the one of 3 dyes. XeroKitsune (talk) 08:40, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
Looks like they removed the dyes you get from level 6. Just did a run for a Black Lion Key and did not get the option to choose a dye. I didn't really look to see what they replaced it with. I however did get an Unidentified Dye in one of the bags I received for completing my personal story (I assume it was the bag I got along with the BLC Key). I opened the bag on a level 80 character though. I am going to do another run through, but anyone else want to confirm this? Arkham316 (talk) 06:28, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
I can't confirm that as I haven't lvled any char lately but it seems they moved some rewards around. Mostly likely it got moved to another level. --Txon Atana - (talk) 11:47, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
I can confirm, choice of lvl 6 soulbound weps is all you get at lvl 6 now. ~Skekzyz (too lazy to track down my password) -69.144.253.150 05:15, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
Thanks Skekzyz. Did you happen to catch which weapon you picked up? If you could type /wiki [SHIFT+CLICK ON ITEM] into the chat box while in-game, I'd love it you were to pass on the number that pops up, as well as the profession you were on. Thanks! G R E E N E R 08:22, 12 July 2015 (UTC)

Weapon list[edit]

Hey, Stéphane sent me a list of the types of weapons you can unlock from the level rewards. Maybe you can use it at least for a general overview: [1]. I'll update when I get some more details (most importantly probably... item IDs for the correct names, etc) --Tera (talk) 11:39, 13 September 2014 (UTC)

Indexing Issues[edit]

This page doesn't appear to be indexing properly. If you search for "Level Reward" or any combination of those words, this page will not show up at all. The exception is if you type it in exactly as "Level rewards" (with the "r" lower-case), then it shows up. I don't know if the page needs to be renamed or not, but if nobody can find it, it isn't going to do any good. --Daft inquisitor(Talk) 19:05, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

That's weird. I have just tried to search for "Level Rewards" and it showed properly. Clicking "Go" brought me directly to it, clicking "Search" showed it as first result in the search. The only thing I noticed is the auto-suggestion, it didn't suggest the page if the "r" wasn't in lowercase, if it was what you meant. --Txon Atana - (talk) 21:56, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
That's just how MediaWiki's default search engine works. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 01:13, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
Not sure if one of you guys (or someone else) changed something, but it's working fine for me now. Awesome. This isn't the first time I've had problems finding pages because they weren't showing up correctly in the search. If someone's fixing those entries as they're pointed out, then that's very cool. Daft inquisitor (talk) 19:34, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

lvl 29[edit]

Level 29 now only gives LFG info. Also it seems if you got autobuilded on low-lvl chars, you ain't getting any hero points until it has caught up with the points it spent unlocking the autobuild. User Karuro Sig.png Karuro 12:41, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

Nothing about utilities anymore? Maybe it got moved to another level too. --Txon Atana - (talk) 02:50, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

Missing info about Weapon Swaping and Map Completion?[edit]

With the recent changes made I have noticed that Weapon swapping and Map completion is gone from the table. Was it removed from leveling rewards or was it changed to another level and no one knows which one so far? I have noticed that as someone reported on forums about not seeing it (yay dumb NPE :P) and then I was unsure about which level was it, when I checked the table it wasn't there. --Txon Atana - (talk) 02:47, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

So yeah I admit that I removed map completion - it wasn't at that level at least, so I removed map completion from level 15. It is a pity we lack articles for the equipment rewarded. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 13:50, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
I see. It looks like we would need to go through the whole leveling process again to re-check the whole list. :S --Txon Atana - (talk) 14:22, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
[[Level rewards/research]] I'm going to screenshot every level I cross by, and try and document it on the subpage... -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 14:43, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

How should we be documenting the item rewards? Put {{item link|ID}} if possible in the sub-templates and taking screenshots for the items for later documenting? (Note: I like IDs) --BryghtShadow (talk) 15:25, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
I had been using {{item link|ID}} for all items on the table and I haven't seen any lacking articles so far. However, a few levels have no details about which item is rewarded (some are generic like only "Glove"). --Txon Atana - (talk) 16:03, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
The items will vary based on profession, just like PS rewards. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 16:14, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
IDs are fine placeholders - provided we get the table nailed down + accurate we can go fishing in the API with item IDs later. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 16:27, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
Oh wait, I made a mistake :P No I didn't use IDs but I used a template to put the links plus icon on the items. --Txon Atana - (talk) 16:31, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I hope the items are the same... it appears that today's update lets you preview the next up rewards (overview at least) by clicking in the bottom right corner (level icon down there too). -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 17:11, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Upcoming Level Rewards will swipe up for any non-level 80 character by clicking anywhere on the experience bar at the bottom of the screen, and swipes down on a second click in that area. --Skekzyz (talk) 16:45, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

Table revamp[edit]

While I liked the new general way the table looks, with that Stats column, and glad to see that starts are more spread over levels I wonder about a few things. Just out of curiosity, what was the reason to split it into templates for each row? (dammit, now I can't keep tracking of the changes to it easily :P jk) And why the icons for a few items were changed? Was it intentional or just a glitch? When I revamped it I tried to make it look clear and with a spread flow but for some reason for me some blocks look a bit cluttered now (maybe it's because of items being in one row instead lists with markers), and I took care that each item had an proper icon for easy identification. I'm not complaining about the changes, just wanting to understand the reasons for doing so. --Txon Atana - (talk) 14:45, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

A few of us have been working on revamping the info here for a few months now, here http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Level_rewards/research. Almost everything involving unlocks has changed since the last table here was finalized so it was started from scratch. --Skekzyz (talk) 16:54, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) After the level rewards were revamped, Alex started a project over at [[Level rewards/research]] to track all of the changes. The easiest way to track them turned out to be editing each level as a profession reached it. Once all of the individual levels were finished, I'm guessing the simplest transition was to copy the templates one-to-one.
As for the icons, if you are able to insert them it would be appreciated. Keeping track of them all for the "info" and "unlocks" was just too much for me while gathering all of the other data (and I didn't know how many of them were custom icons that we didn't have versions of). I'll have to check on my screen caps, but I don't even know if they all came with icons. G R E E N E R 17:02, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
Ah ok, got it. I had heard about that research before. I asked just to know what was intended or not so I could know what I could change if needed. Thanks for the info. Just a doubt, is it going to be updated like "automatically" from that research page, or would we need to edit specific templates individually if anything needs to be changed? --Txon Atana - (talk) 17:58, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
You can edit the templates that this page is using, such as {{Level rewards table row/34}}. G R E E N E R 18:26, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
Yup, got it. Thanks. --Txon Atana - (talk) 18:49, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
Another thing, is the stats always the same (with different amounts though) or is there some error? I'm not up-to-date with the recent changes but I recall it being different for each level (like level X would be Power and Vitality and like level Y would be Healing and Toughness, per example). And again, good to see that stats increase is happening at almost all levels and not anymore with that big leap as introduced with NPE. :P --Txon Atana - (talk) 19:42, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
Edit: Oh nevermind, I just checked the article history and it was like that before. I made some mistake, hehe. --Txon Atana - (talk) 19:45, 7 September 2015 (UTC)

Minor Notes and Pet Skill Unlocks[edit]

Minor note 1: the screen cap graphic on the page is outdated.

Minor note 2: as mentioned here http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Talk:Level_rewards/research a virgin account may actually have things like Fine Equipment, Underwater Combat, and Gathering fully locked out at first, this is not something I'm planning on testing but I'm sure someone could, just to verify if there is a difference between an account that is new and one that has leveled characters on it.

Minor note 3: at level 5 a Necromancer has Death Shroud skills 1-3 unlocked, 4 and 5 have been noted.

Minor note 4: previous to level 7 a character's armor is undamagable by any means. Effectively making "Your armor may now be damaged" an undocumented quasi-unlock at level 7.

Minor note 5: Underwater Combat may be an account wide unlock at level 8 for a virgin account but if a sub-lvl8 character equips an underwater weapon on a non-virgin account they have underwater skill 1 available through level 7, level 8 unlocks underwater skills 2 through 5. Would have to assume that a runed underwater headgear would give the armor and rune bonuses but I have not tested this as of yet, or know if such armor is available. (EDIT: unless someone can find otherwise, there is no headgear available to test this.)

Ranger Pet Skill Unlocks: as mentioned here http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Talk:Level_rewards/research Ranger Pet Families DO NOT unlock Pet Skills uniformly, Devourers, Bears and Drakes unlock skills each in a different pattern than all other Ranger Pets. All pets have skill 2 unlocked through level 5. At level 6 all pets but Bears and Drakes unlock skill 3, Devourers unlock skill 4, earlier than any other family of pets. At level 11 all pets, except Drakes, unlock skill 1, the player controlled skill and skill 4 sans Devourers who had it unlocked at 6. Finally at level 13 Bears gain skill 3 and Drakes unlock skill 1 and 3, thus unlocking all pet skills.

If you have any questions, especially about Ranger Pet Skill Unlocks, please ask here. --Skekzyz (talk) 17:40, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

Yay, dumb NPE messing everything up... :S Boy.. why things had to become so confused when it was meant to be... simpler O.o Thanks to bring those up btw, I wasn't aware about all these "restrictions" and unlocks. --Txon Atana - (talk) 18:05, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

Feedback 2015/09/19[edit]

So it is not really clear even with all the info on the wiki and the links, but it appears that after level 80 there is absolutely no effect leveling up, except that the progress bar starts over. Is that correct? If so, I really think this should be presented here, and potentially some of the other pages. Of course maybe I am missing something and not noticing it when I roll over my XP bar, but if I am I cannot tell.

I also noticed that crafting XP does not apply at level 80. The XP pops up at the top but the progress bar and numbers do not change. I have not seen that comment either, but maybe I'm missing it. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 99.109.96.86 (talkcontribs) at 16:10, 19 September 2015‎ (UTC).

I believe Anet removed the bonuses for advancing in preparation for the Mastery system. I haven't looked closely enough at my characters to see whether or not they're still gaining Hero points or Spirit Shards.
As for the XP while crafting, that sounds like a bug. I know that the crafting experience goes up (in response to orange numbers?), but I do not know if the yellow experience numbers are being nullified.
Hopefully some of our community members can look more closely at this oddity. For those who have bought the expansion, they'll only have to wait until the release for this to be moot, but those who didn't should definitely be made aware. G R E E N E R 19:32, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
Update: Gained neither hero points nor spirit shards. G R E E N E R 21:58, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
Unfortunately, Anet has removed some of the incentive for level 80 characters to assist lower level characters with events, etc. compared to when they received a (now obsolete) skill point, which could be spent with Miyani. ~ 1Maven (talk) 11:04, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
Miyani switched from skill points to spirit shards, which drop randomly for level 80 characters anywhere in the game. So, depending on what the drop rate of spirit shards is, the incentive is almost exactly the same. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:16, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
Dunno about anyone else, I haven't seen any spirit shards drop for me >.> -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 15:48, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
I haven't seen any spirit shards drop for me with the exception of Daily Achievements reward, Small Bag of Spirit Shards that go straight into the wallet when opened. ~ 1Maven (talk) 17:40, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
I've had spirit shards drop from random foes. Bear in mind that, like other currency drops, they go straight into your wallet, so they're pretty easy to miss if you're not watching your loot log like a hawk. - Tanetris (talk) 07:58, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
Just got one myself from a random mob. G R E E N E R 01:10, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the info. I've had shards drop occasionally, and along with all the XP boosts that can be traded for tomes, and the tomes, I suppose it is a wash compared to skill points. Still, While I lost a lot (hundreds) of skill points that I can no longer use at the forge, that doesn't bother me assuming the extra hero points I have will become useful after the expansion; what does irritate me is all the XP boosting available which now does nothing for an end gamer. Consumables, for instance, are still valuable for their direct boosts, but the XP boost seems wasted. Small nit, just an annoyance, certainly not a problem. Racial Skill unlocks[edit]

Where can I get information on which racial skills unlock at what level for each each? --138.75.212.57 16:32, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

The timing for when you get the racial skills has changed since this list was created, so as far as I am aware the newest schedule for those skills still needs to be put onto the wiki. G R E E N E R 17:07, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
If I recall right, aren't racial skills some of the options for Utility and Elite skills? If so then those are unlocked when Utility or Elite skills are unlocked eh? Other than that, specific racial skills are unlocked like any other specific skill: through Core Specialization. Unless I'm misunderstanding something here, if it's the case then anyone correct me. --Txon Atana - (talk) 16:18, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
You're correct, so the utility racial skills are available at level 11, and elite racial skills are available at level 31. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 18:27, 6 May 2017 (UTC)

Guild Hall Access[edit]

I could not access the Guild Hall until I achieved level 2, although that was not mentioned in the level up popup. Separ (talk) 19:54, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Feedback 2018/06/25[edit]

Please add to level 39 that you get access to Major Runes and Sigils and at level 60 access to Superior Runes and Sigils. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 173.171.221.120 (talk) at 13:02, 25 June 2018‎ (UTC).

This page is intended to show what you get from the level reward stars that appear on the right side of your screen each time you level up. I believe all major and superior runes have a level restriction already written on them, and you can technically still acquire the runes, even though you can't wear the armour that has them. Black Lion chest rewards?[edit]

I keep hearing that Black Lion chests are rewarded at Level 10, so I wanted to confirm all drops before deciding what to do with my character. (Thinking of restarting them.)

I don't see it on this page. Do they need to be added? 174.126.190.78 18:21, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

I think you mean Black Lion Keys (since chests are basically worhtless), which is a reward for personal story at level 10, once per week. It's unrelated to the level up rewards, and you can find details here: Key farming. Tl:dr you create a new character every week, level them up to 10, do the personal story (takes about 15 minutes max), you get a key. Next week after Monday's reset - you can do it again. ~Sime 20:50, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
