Does this repair all broken armor on the character? Or, just one piece? Daddicus 14:17, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

I tested a canister when I had 2 damaged gear items. Both were repaired. more testing is needed, but it does repair more than 1 piece that is for sure. I have no idea if there is a different limit. --Saelfaer 23:19, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
Used a canister on a fully broken equipped set; all seven parts were fully repaired. Someone should test if it also fixes damaged items in the inventory. And if so, what the limit to that is (entire inv full of damaged items?) (192.168.104.83 16:45, 24 September 2012 (UTC))

DO you need to pay for the repairs? I mean it's nice to have a portable repair on you but having to waste silver on it isn't exactly great. 79.21.47.156 15:07, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

What? This repairs your items on use. It doesn't summon a Repairs NPC. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 15:30, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

Page states "This item cannot be used while in a Dungeon", but was used successfully in the dungeon Ascalonian Catacombs (story). When used it repaired multiple armor pieces and did not remove any coins on use.(INKED 03:46, 2 October 2012 (UTC))

One canister consumable more than once?[edit]

I've used one Instant Repair Canister to repair 4 of my armors at once. All got repaired but the canister is still in my inventory. A bug? Geekfox (talk) 22:17, 19 May 2013 (UTC)

You would have to reproduce it and take screenshots, you could simply have two and not know it.--Relyk ~ talk < 22:44, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
I had a stack of 4 canisters on my alt. I split them and moved one to my bank, so that my alt's inventory has 3 canisters and the bank has 1. Then I moved the one in the bank to my primary character's inventory and used it. Canister is still usable while my alt's inventory still has 3. Now that I've thought about it, I probably had a hidden canister already on my primary character's inventory. It might take a while before I attempt to reproduce this again. Account bound[edit]

Why is the canister account bound? --79.198.157.42 07:13, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

Obsolete[edit]

This item is next to useless now. They should just remove it from the game, and thereby as a chance of getting it from Daily and Black Lion Chest. 37.96.229.119 15:31, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

It's less useful, but not entirely useless. It saves you having to waypoint travel to somewhere with a repair NPC, so you can keep on doing whatever you're doing without interruption. It's nice that they lowered the prices to reflect the lowered utility. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 15:45, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
They still come in handy in Fractals. Felix Omni Signature.png 15:59, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
No, they're useless. 37.96.229.119 16:07, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
You just went from "next to useless" to "useless" after being told multiple uses. How does that even work? Felix Omni Signature.png 16:19, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
Why doesn't it work? 37.96.229.119 17:28, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
You missed the point. Here, have an example: if you're out farming events in Cursed Shore on your berserker thief, and you keep going down because you're super-squishy and you suck at dodging (this is hypothetical, so just go with it) so all your armor is damaged and starts breaking, which would you rather do to repair your armor: use an Instant Repair Canister from your inventory, or waypoint all the way back to Lion's Arch to find a repair NPC? —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 17:38, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
Or you're doing To Kill a God or The World Summit, and the alternative to using a canister is aborting the mission and starting over. SigShaneTalk 19:09, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
I'd go to WvW, talk to the handy repair NPC at any spawn point, and then use "leave the mists" to go directly back to Cursed Shore. All without paying for waypoint fees or gems. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 20:42, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

But if you had some IRCs that you got for free, you wouldn't have to go through two loading screens. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 20:52, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

In the upcoming June update the repair canisters will give the same buff as the anvils and repair NPCs do. Link to developer comment.Mojliggora (talk) 20:05, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
