Talk:Goemm's Lab

For the verification requested, yes, your progress is saved up to each gate. You are knocked down upon moving through and your gate attunement is removed. Upon falling off you simply talk to the golem at the beginning and he can put you at any of the stations you've visited since you were last on the map. --Corsair@Yarrr 08:07, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

And as an addendum to this, yes, Goemm is merely a large enemy standing in your way. Being in combat will make you not able to jump to the finish. So killing him isn't really required, but getting there is pretty difficult without inhuming him.--Corsair@Yarrr 08:09, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Two little notes[edit]

  • It should probably be noted on the page that falling off and being teleported to the start does NOT remove your attunement, as it does not count as dieing.
  • Is it worth mentioning that in the Stormy Station you can jump off the platform directly to the right of the start as a shortcut, and shave off almost half that section of the jumping puzzle?

Who comes up with this shit[edit]

I spent 3 hours trying to do this on a slow pc that runs about 5fps in laggy areas (why JUMPING PUZZLES are usually the laggiest areas in the game I don't know), I endure through 5 glitches, 2 of which make my character immediately die upon being ported back to the start, and 3 that make me fall through the ground after being ported back to the start, such that I have to run all the way back and lose my attunement or pay and run back. I finally make it to the last section and I decide to log off to take a break, I come back on and find I have to do the whole damn thing again? Is this some sort of joke ArenaNet?--86.28.147.193 16:05, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

ArenaNet published the system requirements for this game, didn't they? Playing on a PC with 5 fps sounds like user error. 76.253.0.17 00:58, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
Implying someone would buy a new pc just to play one game, when the rest of the game runs fine and it only lags in jumping puzzle areas... yeah. If they can make the rest of the game run fine on older pcs they can make jumping puzzle areas less laggy, I don't know what they do to them but they always lag 90% more than anywhere else, it really is quite ridiculous. And yes I realise you're only here to troll but it didn't work out sadly--86.28.147.193 08:20, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
I believe that this puzzle lags because it's trying to render not just the stuff above the clouds, but everything beneath you as well. I know that I was getting random "new POI"/"area discovered" as I was going along (first time through Metrica Province on that character). While I did not experience any bugs, this is definitely one of the longer and more frustrating puzzles, and as usual the chest gave crap for loot. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 09:04, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
This is one of the last JP's I am doing, and it was not "frustrating" in the slightest, its probably one of the best looking, and funnest. But frustrating? Hell no. The JP's like the ones in lions arch, amongst others, that have ridiculous camera angles where you can't see anything, and they're ugly to look at like they were rushed to completion, those are the frustrating/boring ones. This one? Far from it. @OP, itsP not anets fault you have a pc from the 90's. 124.191.60.179 08:06, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
A general performance boost is turning reflections off completely. I hope that helps. Also, wiki is not a forum, please take ranting to user space in the future. - Infinite - talk 08:37, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
The views are obstucted on purpose. These jumping puzzles are probably the LEAST rushed out content. Those visual obstructions are part of the game, as they always have been in platforming. In the spirit of classic NES games and the like, every aspect of the game is utilized as a road block for the player to get through. on some the visual obstructions are going to be a challenge. The fact that the player has control of the camera, and is aware of the fact that this CONTROLLED camera will run into the things and collide with structures... means that the failure for the camera to function to the player's standards is essentially that player's inadequacy in controlling both his player and the camera. If the camera is not intended to be part of the action and gameplay, then why would they have time-limited jumping puzzles like Mad King's tower, and the many JP's that have timed out platforms. to this day, players all around the world still site the Mario games as being terrible games for camera views, but those are players; professionals from within the industry stil use each new Mario game as the benchmark in camera work, platforming, and adventure puzzle scenarios. The reason for that is that the games PLAYERS like are the ones that are catered to the needs of the player; to win. They are made easier and funnel the player into certain angles that he can look instead of a fully free camera; also the players are restricted in their movement within the world, typical constrained to small areas at a time (room-by-room direction). Even elaborate adventure games take the players into a series of daisy-chained instances, rather than one enormous instance for unrestricted roaming. These restrictions makes success easier for the player, as well as makes it easier to control the cameras always elegant angles. Its simple :The wiki can't do the work for you, so you are all griping like spoiled children.

Stormy Station Shortcut[edit]

After becoming attuned and returning to portal at the start turn to your right and walk to the edge where you can jump across the the large land mass there and then round to drop down to final platform. Lady Elyssa 14:38, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

Noticed that on Oct 17th this shortcut seems to have been removed The goddamn keywi (talk) 07:57, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

Feedback 2017/10/26: "long and difficult": To be updated?[edit]

Dears, I am not sure, but I believe that this text should be updated. Since this old JP, a loads of others have been added to the game that are really "long and difficult", like the one in SW, Dry Top, Ember Bay, and many others. Those JPs have pushed up the criteria of difficulty, and in comparison, nowadays, this one in Metrica is quite fair and "just" needs a bit care. It can no more be described as "long and difficult". What do you think? --Tilu (talk) 05:17, 26 October 2017 (UTC)

If you feel that way, feel free to edit it. Be bold! I feel that it is on the longer side, and is certainly tricky if you don't have stability or if you're actually on a leveling character where you don't have armor/skills/etc. I was worried you'd found the walk-through outdated when I saw your first sentence. x.x--Rain Spell (talk) 05:32, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
LOL, sorry. Had no intention to scare anybody. I am not native English speaking so my choice of wording can be poor. Fine with me to let it untouched. :-) --Tilu (talk) 09:10, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
