Fetch[edit]

I'm not familiar enough with how the scripts are set up to fetch event status. Do we simply need to update a cached event listing to include the new ones? And if so, is that something a standard user can update? In any case, it would be very helpful to have the awesome Fetch feature up and running on this particular event. --Thervold (talk) 15:43, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

User:Poke set up MediaWiki:EventInfo.js with the event id/name data as a static construct, so it wouldn't have to call the event_names.json API every time. I guess it just needs to be updated with new event data - I'd poke him about it. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 15:50, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
Yeah sorry, totally forgot that I should update that somehow (until the server-side solution is ready). Updated it now and the fetch should work for this one now. poke | talk 15:54, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
Does the API include overflows? I imagine the queen appears at least as often in overflow as on proper worlds. 75.36.183.9 16:43, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
No, we can’t get the status from overflow servers; and even if we did, there is no way to join a specific overflow without knowing someone who is already on it. poke | talk 17:12, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
I'm sure if gw2stuff or the wiki presented overflow status information, people would find a way to get to the specific overflows. 75.36.183.9 17:18, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
The problem there is that overflow servers don't function the same way our "worlds" do; overflow instances only exist at all when there is a need for them, which makes them very difficult to track. At any rate, ArenaNet doesn't presently provide access to data from overflows, so there's no way we or anyone else could present their status. If at some point ArenaNet does provide a way to track overflow instances and statues, I'm sure we can figure out some way of using that information. Felix Omni Signature.png 18:05, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
