Feedback 2015/08/30[edit]

Regarding "Outgoing damage is increased by 5% at night." in sigil of night table, "night" operates as a hyperlink to the day and night page redundantly. Imo it doesn't serve a purpose. --24.3.44.144 01:17, 31 August 2015 (UTC)

You are correct, however the redirect link is generated from the description as it appears on each sigil page (and that link can't really point to anything else). -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 01:34, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
Except... you just made it point to something else, that being directly at this page instead of the redirect - which is correct! You win a coupon for a free espresso! —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 03:01, 31 August 2015 (UTC)

New Zones/Alternative Instances not on Schedule?[edit]

Just switched from a character in Caledon to a character in Dry Top and went from day to night. The schedule currently says it is day. Since their are virtually always multiple instances of Dry Top operating simultaneously, my guess is that either the newer zones aren't on the same schedule or the alternative instances aren't on the same schedule. Lysander (talk) 21:16, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

I noticed this as well, going from Straits of Devastation to Mount Maelstrom, and the Maelstrom day/night cycle is completely off the time on this page. I am thinking we might need some serious updating here. -dangerCake (talk) 20:56, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
Update: The night cycle went into effect normally in Maelstrom, it's just that the sky didn't change in the Hidden Garden jumping puzzle, where it appears day all the time. I was able to use the Celestial Cartographer's Gear during the night cycle properly. -dangerCake (talk) 23:19, 8 April 2016 (UTC)

Feedback 2016/06/14[edit]

You may want to add to the bit about Verdant Brink, that Night is in 2 parts: 1st 25 minutes is defending, then choppers land to take you to kill bosses. --Palingenesis (talk) 15:57, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

That's covered over on Verdant Brink (or should be), where it's actually relevant. Konig 16:17, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

Raids?[edit]

The page does not seem to indicate how day/night apply to raid areas. --Felbryn (talk) 04:07, 18 June 2016 (UTC)

It's a year late, but raids are now included. --Idris (talk) 16:27, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

Dawn/dusk's status as functional day/night[edit]

My research has shown that the "dawn/dusk are both functionally day" claim is bogus:

  • VB's day phase doesn't trigger until dawn is over;
  • BF's "spirits come out at night" meta doesn't end until dawn is over;
  • AC weapons don't switch back to their day appearance until dawn is over;
  • Shaemoor cemetery doesn't switch to its day behaviour (no bats, priest of Grenth) until dawn is over;
  • The bed and breakfast in LA will still allow people inside during dawn; (Edit: This seems to be another exception, as it's also open during dusk.)
  • Day/night foods DO trigger the day behaviour during dawn; they appear to be an exception and are probably the reason false information was added to the article in the first place.

It appears to be the case that dawn is functionally night, and dusk is functionally day. I've altered the article accordingly, but if anyone wants to double-check my findings, please do so. --Idris (talk) 06:52, 24 June 2017 (UTC)

I just tested with a Bowl of Hummus. I got the day effect during dawn, and the night effect during dusk. --Imry (talk) 16:43, 19 September 2017 (UTC)
Oh, damn. I'm certain that the food I tested (I think it was a popper but I'm not sure) treated both as day, so it seems like we're going to have to test all day/night foods to see which ones treat dawn as day and which treat dawn as night. --Idris (talk) 13:35, 13 May 2018 (UTC)

Some of these foods grant lifesteal at night, which was hard to check for since it never seems to display in my combat log, especially when it procs while I'm at full health. I've marked these cases as "not day", since they never procced the day behaviour either, which is easier to track (causes burning on foe or might on self.) Looks like my initial research was either wrong or outdated; dawn and dusk behave the opposite way than other game mechanics when it comes to food. --Idris (talk) 17:51, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

Today I caught a Silver Moony during dusk. This is a Nighttime fish. I believe that dusk is behaving light night. This was in Bloodtide Coast. Is it possible that dusk/day food and fishing is map dependent? Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 13:46, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
In the case of fishing, dawn and dusk both act as day and night. I.e. you can catch day and night fish during dawn, and you can catch day and night fish during dusk. Greener (talk) 17:14, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

Is Grothmar Valley on the day/night cycle?[edit]

The event boards reference "XX:00 Tyrian Time". I think 14:00 is 10 after one of the hours, but not completely sure. 10 minutes after each hour and 40 minutes after each hour seem to be event spawning times, so … what does that mean? Daddicus (talk) 03:04, 19 September 2019 (UTC)

The day/night cycle takes 2h in Earth time (which is 1/12th what it normally takes) so one Tyrian hour should be 60m / 12 = 5m Earth time. Midnight in Tyrian is reset, dawn starts at 5:00 Tyrian time, day at 6:00, dusk at 20:00, and night at 21:00. Neat!
Related fact: ascended feasts stay active for one Tyrian hour and keep you full for twelve Tyrian hours. Normal food only keeps you full for six Tyrian hours. That's a lot more reasonable than having to eat an entire pizza every 30m. --Imry 05:08, 19 September 2019 (UTC)

Dry Top: bug or specific schedule?[edit]

I noticed many times that day/night cycle in Dry Top is not the same as in other Tyrian areas. Once I supposed that Sandstorm! event could be counted as night, but apparently it's not true. Current shift (delay) from the Tyrian time is about 40 minutes. This weirdness has already been noticed more than 5 years ago. The question is, whether this time difference is intentional (by design), or is due to a specific time on the server where this map instance is located, or is a result of still unfixed bug? Anyway I would like to suggest to check this by players in different time zones (UTC+2 here) and make a note here or on the Dry Top page. --79.143.107.31 09:33, 20 August 2023 (UTC)

SotO maps[edit]

The first map of SotO seems to follow the central Tyria time, with dawn at 5AM. The second one probably does too. --79.84.48.147 22:29, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
