Why can't Anet provide us with the actual data?

I find it insulting that we're researching how their game works on the official wiki when they could just tell us.

Coin[edit]

The article is vague, is coin rewarded random or is it determined by level? We can add coin to the page if it's random so we can at least get a range. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 04:28, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

It's determined by level, but it's a step function, not linear. I think it increases by 50 Copper coin every 10 levels or something like that, to a max of Silver coin at level 80. Need to collect data at various levels to determine the specifics. Also, if you get a bonus Gem Store item, you also get bonus coins, like 10% more. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 04:58, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
Allow me to begin, then
43 no extra - Silver coin 50 Copper coin
45 no extra - Silver coin 50 Copper coin
47 no extra - Silver coin 50 Copper coin
54 extra - Silver coin 52 Copper coin

Level Coin
1 - 10 100
11 - 20 175
21 - 30 250?
31 - 40 300?
41 - 50 350
51 - 60 400
61 - 70 475
71 - 80 500
Here's a table to put values in. I compiled data from here and Faalagorn's spreadsheet. It look like the bonus coin amount may be random, since Faalagorn recorded 446 for level 52+bonus, while Burfo recorded 439 above at the same level, and Manifold had 452 in the same tier (level 54); within Faalagorn's data, he has both 563 and 577 for bonus totals at the top tier (levels 74 and 78).
The base amount definitely looks like it's a 10-level step function. What we really need is data at low levels, though. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 13:40, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Burfo recorded 439 above at the same level -- Regarding my entry above...I defeated 1 mob which both raised me to level 52 and completed my Daily achievement simultaneously. If my numbers make more sense for level 51, then that's likely why. — Burfo User Burfo avatar.jpg 19:02, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Hmm... I don't know. Faalagorn listed the same bonus coin amount of 446 at two different levels, 52 and 56, which either debunks any direct relationship between the bonus amount and level or indicates that he typo'ed the second one and it should be 464. We really need a bigger audience from which to crowdsource this data. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 19:20, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Nope, it's not a typo. I also have more data to input, but it's level 80 only. BTW - what happens if you relog to a different character with unredeemed daily achievement chest? Becuase I;d like to point out that level 1 character = tutorial, and kills in tutorial does not count towards daily achievement I think, so the achievements would all need to be done on a single charcter and then relog.
Faalagorn/ 06:08, 7 November 2012 (UTC).
EDIT: It's also worth mentioning, that on level 80, I got 559 + Black Lion Merchant Express and 2 days later 562 + Black Lion Merchant Express, so the bonus coin amount isn't tied either to your level nor the bonus item. Here are the screenies.
Faalagorn/ 06:16, 7 November 2012 (UTC).
I tried that once - switching characters after finishing the dailies but before opening the chest - and it doesn't work, the chest did not appear for the other character. When I went back to the first character, the chest was still there. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 13:35, 7 November 2012 (UTC)
That's true----------ANet stated that ONLY the character that COMPLETED the "dailies" would be able to collect the reward. Of course, ANY character (of ANY level) can achieve each individual daily step, so you could have your L3 character complete (4) steps, then have your L80 character complete the fifth-- and be rewarded commensurate with that character's level.68.58.171.151 23:53, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

Confused[edit]

The article is a great idea and I can contribute since I complete the Daily Achievement almost daily, but i'm a bit confused about the layout. Do I add to the numbers already present, or do i start a new row specifically for me? Also, why are there two tables? Serval Stareater 17:18, 6 November 2012 (UTC)

Start a row for yourself. The bottom is the totals and percentages. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 17:37, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, i've updated it with my results so far. One more question; when I add results in the future, can I just re-sign over where I last signed? Logic tells me I can but I want to make sure i'm not breaking any rules by deleting the date/time of my past updates. Serval Stareater 18:47, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
You can, but it's not a big deal either way. It's all in the history if anyone needs to check. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 18:50, 6 November 2012 (UTC)

I'm confused about something else. Why does the table spill over into this section header? Vili 点 User talk:Vili 06:12, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

Fixed the table--Relyk 07:15, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

Auto table[edit]

In case Manifold thinks I've snubbed his request for text based headings, you can set the "labels" to equal "yes" if you want them to appear, they are ugly as sin though :P --Chieftain Alex 21:02, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

Data input format (no need to change template!)[edit]

First of all, thanks for the proper template Alex :). However, how about a simple change not requiring any template changes on how does data gets input? Right now input data looks like this:

How about adding just new lines to make it look like this?

Or even spaces?

Even more, with this formatting there is even no need to shorthand names of the items! Which IMO are only confusing and have to be added on every new item

 • The bad side is that obviously a page gets bigger and longer, but I don't think it's an issue in 2012 with our powerful PCs, fast internet and fast servers with lots of storage
 • The good size is - it's so eay to edit your own line now to add more items! Everything is so clear and not cluttered on a single line that wraps in wiki editor window
 • Everything is easy actually. It's so easy that the "Add new lines above this line, using the following format:" note is no longer really needed! I think everyone who is smart enough to do any editing on wiki can figure out what to copy with just a small note to do so and no blank example :). Just leave a note to sign with ~~~~.

The change is really easy, I can even do that myself, except for deleting the shorthand item names, but I'd like to hear what do you think about this guys.
Faalagorn/ 04:03, 19 November 2012 (UTC).

You do not need to enter values for items that have 0 values, that's the default value. This lets you put the entire line on a literal line. That was one of the main points of the drop template :)--Relyk 04:05, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
I changed it so it should be self-explanatory--Relyk 04:10, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
I still prefer the values to be split in different lines. You can omit a line in there too...

...but the fact is that I find the multi-line entries much more user-friendly, as the lines will still wrap eventually if you start adding more items, and even without wrapping it's easier to find a desired item you want to update in the multi line one. Plus, like i said - there is no need for shorthand, which for me are only troublesome :<.
Faalagorn/ 04:16, 19 November 2012 (UTC).
Yeah, it's much easier to scan and find the right thing with one thing per line. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 04:18, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
Whatever works, no one is requiring a specific format. Once you add the entry, no one else has to look at or modify it. Personally, I would put it all items on one line then break the line for my signature. You'll avoid wrapping it in most cases.--Relyk 05:56, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
Ditto what Relyk said - pick one format you guys are happy with and stick with it. It makes no difference to me since I'll never open even one! If you want to change the parameter/shortcut names, delete the column of | s_ = ... bits to the right of the item name in the header template - and repeat any edits you make to the header shortcuts on the line entries. Its your wiki, you decide :P --Chieftain Alex 17:52, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
Oh, and the reason I came to this page in the first place was to suggest that Black Lion Chests, nor Keys, nor Fine Transmutation Stones are actually available as rewards from the Dailies. And hence we could delete those columns. --Chieftain Alex 17:54, 27 November 2012 (UTC)

This would really look a lot better if people had shorter signatures :P --Chieftain Alex 15:45, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

Could use one more thing:[edit]

Right now we have a working theory that the cash rewards are step functions of level. There are 8 ranges in the step-function table. So, a prediction of this model is that no reward will be other than the one in the list that matches one's level.

An exception is that some item other than cash, a jug and a coin is also received. If this happens, the cash reward is increased.

A further stipulation of the extra cash in these cases is that it might be 10% of the normal value.

What we need is input as to whether these predictions ever get violated. If they do, we have to re-align our predictions. So, we need a column asking if the cash reward does not match the expected values tables. There should also be a note to add details to this page should one run across a reward that doesn't match up. Daddicus 05:58, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

Separate table since it isn't a "drop"--Relyk 03:40, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
I was wondering if you receive extra cash (i.e. outside of step function range) when you would normally tick "no extra item" in the top drop table. --Chieftain Alex 08:57, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
Exactly my point. Basically, if the number of coins doesn't match the theory, make a note of that. If the theory is correct, we won't see any such markings. If wrong, we can change it. Daddicus 00:22, 7 December 2012 (UTC)

Revive Orb[edit]

Are they not also part of the daily chest, or is it part of map completion? I have 4, and have never actually purchased one, leading me to believe either of the two also rewards these at rare occurrences. I'm inclined to say it's this one. - Infinite - talk 17:50, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

I think I got mine from the Black Lion Chest, have you opened any of those? Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 17:52, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
That could also be true, maybe they came from there then. I'll keep an eye out, though. - Infinite - talk 18:03, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
I have like 20 Revive Orbs and never spent gems to get them, and I haven't opened *that* many Black Lion Chests, so I believe that they must be a chance reward from dailies or map completion. Next time I happen to get one I'll remember to take a screenshot. They are certainly more valuable to me than those terrible Basic Transmutation Stones. >_> Vili 点 User talk:Vili 18:09, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
I can confirm that Revive Orbs do have a daily drop chance, as I just received one for my Feb. 8th daily reward. Adilor 23:47, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Signing[edit]

When signing the drop rate entries, we currently use four tildes, producing user signature plus time. Isn't it cleaner to use three tildes, producing just the user's signature? ( Infinite - talk ) Just an idea. - Infinite - talk 16:30, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

GW1W always used 3 tildes. Not sure why this template uses 4 tildes - the timestamp isn't automatically updated when editing, so what's the point? Tub 21:24, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

Fine Transmutation Stone[edit]

Just got a Fine Transmutation Stone along with a Jug of Liquid Karma and a Mystic Coin was on my alt( level 30 mesmer questing in Queensdale) when i got this. I noticed the table doesn't have a column for a fine transmutation stone, would really apreciate it if someone could add it for me, i'm afraid i'll screw it up if i mess with that. Darkshadow 18:13, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

I've now added it. (Originally I removed it because we didn't have any confirmed reports of it being a reward :P) 77.97.208.117 19:14, 17 December 2012 (UTC)
Thank you :) Darkshadow 13:20, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

Table of Coin rewards[edit]

I think the table with the coin rewards is incorrect for levels 21-30. It had 250 with a question mark. I added "225-" to give it a range. However, I think it's really 225, and the person who got 250 must have also received something else that time. Further that "something else" included a 25 coin bonus.

Before changing it, though, I would like people to comment, especially if you have seen a real 250 (real = no bonus item). Daddicus 18:39, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

The 250 was a guess, ignore it.--Relyk ~ talk > 00:03, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

Black Lion Key[edit]

I have received a black lion key as a bonus item from my daily before.

Need another column[edit]

I just got a Black Lion Key as part of the reward. Looks like I'm the first one, at least here.

However, I don't know how to create a new column. Can someone do that, please? Daddicus (talk) 01:09, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

Thank you! Daddicus (talk) 15:02, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

I just got two dyes from my daily chest, both rares. I don't see that on the table either, does it happen enough to matter?

What dyes?--Relyk ~ talk < 04:38, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

Discovered what happens when you level WHILE collecting[edit]

I discovered what happens when you level up at the same moment as you earn the reward: The reward is calculated at the lower level. I was 10th level with a tiny amount of XP needed to hit 11th. I used dodger as the way I got the reward, so no XP for that. I couldn't tell which reward came first (the next daily, or the 5th of 5 dailies), but I received the reward as if I were 10th. Daddicus (talk) 01:50, 25 May 2013 (UTC)

Increase in drop rate for "extras"?[edit]

Four of the last five days (and I didn't get dailies on the fifth), I've gotten an extra goodie. Has anybody else noticed a rise in the "extra" drop rate? Daddicus (talk)

That's anecdotal evidence, asking people if they think there is a rise isn't very meaningful ^^--Relyk ~ talk < 02:45, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
Yes, it's only anecdotal. That's why I asked to see if others noticed it. If some have, we may want to make note of the date or something. If (as I expect) it's merely just good luck, then nothing. (You will note I did not put it on the main page; that was for this very reason.) Daddicus (talk)

Tried to add Transmutation Charge[edit]

I tried to add a column for the new Transmutation Charges. However, I didn't know how to call the icon, so the red X is there (should be one column to the right?)

Can somebody please fix it and tell me how to do it correctly?

Thanks! Daddicus (talk)

Done, but surely ANet will have removed the Transmutation Stone + Transmutation Crystal at the same time? In which case, perhaps we should archive the old pre April 16th data. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 07:04, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
Indeed, they did. So yeah it's not needed anymore, I guess. Howellq (talk) 07:28, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
Sigh, yeah, zap the lot. See if you can explain how daddicus received 3 charges 15 months before they were released in the meantime. I don't know, though. Is it time to say, "we've had enough data" and just bung the percentage drop rates on the main daily page? Be done with it. — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 11:49, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
I expect that they didn't change a thing apart from combining the two transmutation items. What will we say on the page? Over 70% chance for sweet fuck-all else cept coins. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 20:20, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
Indeedy. It doesn't help that I keep wondering where my data has gone, before remembering that that was on the similarly buggered-about-with BLC drop rate page. — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 20:38, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
Actually, they all came this year (4/30, 5/1, and 6/21. I just added a whole bunch of data; these 3 were in there, but I did keep track of the dates. Daddicus (talk)
