Just wondering if Crabtacular is bugged or if I'm doing it wrong. I've maxed out everything related to crab toss except that one and I still didn't get it, despite finishing several games with the crab in hand.

Is there something else I'm supposed to do or is progress bugged? 142.167.193.214 12:48, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

Description is unintuitive, you have to be the only one standing while others are knocked down by karka and carry crab in the same time. Link. MalGalad 12:53, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

I dont find the tips actually helping at all, i just got all the achievements so i thought i could help there proposing some more tips (NOTE: its 4 o clock at night and my english is a bit rusted, so i post it here for people to correct it instead of editing the article directly by myself):

  • If you have just started playing and you feel like you have not enough reflexes or that the game is too hard try to change your controls to have the most used skill slots (1, 3, and 4) in easy to access keys, like Q, E, and R, and then focus ONLY in aiming with your mouse to the opponent with the crab. This can improve your reaction time, but remember to change them back when you go out of the arena.
  • If you dont know how to go out of the arena, there is a icon to go out above the map in the right down corner of the screen. (I point it out because i have seen several times people that gets traped and dont know how to go out, like with Embarck Beach in GW1. If you can put the description of where it is the button to go out better than me i would really thank you, i didnt remember that speaking in english was this hard LOL sorry.)
  • You dont need to take down 8 oponentes while having the crab to get the Crabtastic achivement, it is more easy to try when you are in a 3 player match, and just wait until the other 2 are taken down by little karkas or big karkas.
  • Skill 1 steals the crab from the oponent IF they have the crab, if they are "casting" the grab the crab skill, the steal wont work. However, the skill 4, that makes the oponent throw the crab away with the possibility of the crab "landing" at you and auto-picking it, can take effect before ends the cast, if not, it will interrupt the oponent.
  • If you are getting close to an enemy with the crab, but you cant hit him, try to prepare a rock and throw it at him, the cc effect of the rock will stop the oponent from using skills, specifically, the sprint.
  • In the same situation, if you are getting close you can try to trick them to roll using skill 4, then roll to go close to them again and try to steal with skill 1, this way the opponent will propably not have any form to dodge the steal. On the other side, if you just used the skill 1 and he dodged you, you can do the oposite and use 4 to make the opponent loose the crab as a last resort.
  • When you just grab the crab from the florr near an opponent in melee range to you, use the sprint or a roll as the casting animation of picking up the crab ends, this will stop him from stealing the crab from you, as he will more likely be waiting to your character to end picking up the crab for stealing it from you and running away.
  • For the "grab 100 crabs" achievement, stealing a crab (skill 1), and making the opponent throw the crab (skill 4), count, but using the fishing pole to steal a crab or making the oponent throw the crab by using the plank (about the plank im not 100% sure) dont count for the achievement. Also, picking up a crab from the floor does not count, even if you were the one that made the oponent throw it away.
  • When using the sprint you are in a "dodge", so attacks wont have any effects on you, you can exploit this to run in to a charging karka, the charge wont knock you. If you have the crab you can use this as protection.
  • Altough sprint gives you the "evading" status, if you had a minikarka when you started the sprint, they will continue to stay on you. Also, is you were slowed by a karka when the sprint started, the sprint will be shorter and slower.
  • If you are a necro, or if there is a necro in you match, when the crab dies you will be able to see its life force bubble go to the necro, this can help you to see if the crab is dead or not.
  • If you have the crab, you can use the crab toss to throw the crab to an opponent and knock him down, this may seem stupid, but if the enemy is close enough to you you can re-steal it from him before he gets up, giving you a free knockdown and points for stealing it.
  • When having the crab the 1 skill cand take down an opponent, use this only on a close opponent by turning around fast and using the skill on him, but dont try this when you are followed by more than one opponent, as even if you take down your target and he is in the ground the others opponents can, and will, steal the crab from you. You will get 3 points more for the knockdown.
  • You can use the fishing pole to steal the crab from far away, but if there is an enemy between the target with the crab and you he will grab the crab in mid air.
  • While having the crab, you can use some items that give you a fifth slot skill, like the southsun punch or the conch, this is specially usefull with the conch, as it gives you a AoE fear around you.
  • While using the plank, try to aim at an opponent out of the skill 1 range and use the skill 1 on him, this way you will "charge" him without breaking the plank and without the downside of the sprint (make you inmobile after the sprint), this is specially usefull when the opponent has just used his sprint, as you will be able to reach him while he is inmobile and then you can follow stealing the crab or knocking him down, and when you are the last of the zerg following the man with the crab, as you will land in front of the zerg or in the middle of it, and then you can knock back everyone around you with the skill 2 AoE stun. Also, in both ways, even if you fail the charge you will still have the plank, because like you didnt hit any enemy with any skill the plank will not be broken, and you can just wait for the skill 1 cd to try another charge.
  • Giant karkas charge can be evaded by rolling.

Im really sorry for my english, but i think that around 90% about what i have written is true (i dont say 100% because i only played for some hours), and that it can help people starting with this minigame. Anyway, even if you chose not to post it, i only wanted to help poeple :D. Sorry for not signing, but its 5 oclock now and in really tired to create a wiki account, lol.

Limited in time?[edit]

Is there any word on whether Crab Toss (and the related achievements) will be available when we move on from Secret of Southsun (or at least, when the living story moves from Southsun Cove)? Can't remember any source on the subject. User I Elite Starchild I Monk-tango-icon-200.png-Alarielle- 12:04, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

"Crab Toss...Getting There...On those days that Crab Toss is active in the daily activity rotation, enter into a match by talking to:...Karlotta, the NPC at the northwest part of the island in Sawtooth Bay, outside the fence."

Is this still accurate? Did not she her there today. --72.188.67.189 02:16, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

I don't think I've seen her for quite awhile. I feel like her and the other activity npcs were removed with HoT, so she may need to be marked historical. -Rain Spell (talk)
