Should we denote max possible achievement points?[edit]

I did the math just now, and until they add more achievements (via holiday, HoT, WvW season, or LW Season 3), and presuming I didn't miss any categories or the like, the current total possible is 29198; ignoring historical it'd be 24346. Should such be denoted and updated periodically? Konig 11:10, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Mastery point rewards for old achievements after Heart of Thorns launch[edit]

I have added total mastery points for each category to this table and updated the old categories with new achievements. However, there are some achievements I can't see and others that seem a bit strange, so I'd be glad if someone else cross-checked them.

What I mean by "strange" is that while some achievements I don't have show that they give a point, I haven't ever finished human story for levels 20 and 30 (Family Reunion and Storming the Castle), which are also the only story achievements that don't show me they give a mastery point. This means that it's either a very unusual coincidence, or that not all unobtained mastery points show up.

If it's the latter, it would probably be better if multiple people with a lot of achievements looked at their hero panels, clicked through the achievements and looked if I missed any, especially in the Hero, Dungeons, Twilight Arbor Aetherpath, Explorer, Basic/Rare Collections and Fashion categories; I'm 100% sure that all Season 2, Silverwastes, Dry Top, Jumping Puzzles and Bosses are done, and 99% sure that Slayer, Weapon Master, Community, Tradesman, Hall of Monuments and all Competitive categories don't have any.

As a side note (that I really should put somewhere else, but whatever), we'll need the green mastery point icon as well. User Noxx Sig.png 16:51, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

Checked and those two human storyline ones give mastery points. Of the categories questioned I count: 25 in Hero (all completed), 0 in Dungeon (all but repeatable completed), 0 in Aetherpath (all completed), 2 explorer (only HoT and legendary ones not completed), 1 Basic Collection (but haven't completed any dungeon, mini, style guide, or new achievements - all but 1st whispers backpiece achieve are locked), 4 (only luminescent completed - Jormag and Uzolan locked), and 1 fashion (all completed). I'll update the hero one. Konig 05:40, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
Great, thanks! This probably means that the Central Tyria points are done, although we'll have to keep an eye on the collections; if anyone else comes here who has the following achievements done, please tell us if they also give mastery points:
  • Basic Collections – dungeon, mini, Style Guide, achievements new to HoT
  • Rare Collections – Acolyte of Dwayna, Exotic Hunter, Spirit Crafter, Dungeoneer, Treasure Hunter, Jormag Defense Guide, Toy Tonic Tippler, Uzolan's Mechanical Orchestra, Ascended Recycling

Missing some achievements?[edit]

The total amount I get if I ignore the lunar dailys, etc at the bottom of the page (I assume they count towards the 15k) is 32430. 3 players currently have more AP than that (top = 32664). I noticed the 2 retired fractals achievements aren't listed (10 AP, included in 32430). Not sure what else is missing? Or do lunar/halloween/etc not count towards the 15? 99.252.31.138 15:32, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

The festival dailies do count to the 15k (at least as of the cap and/or merge). I wouldn't be surprised if there are missing achievements. I noticed that Beta Weekend (achievements) is missing from the main list and included 5 AP. It's also possible some categories aren't up to date on this page since it is all manual (hmmm I'll ask Alex if it can be automateds somehow). I'll look through and compare to API using sites for the missing achievements when I get time. Currently on phone so hard to check. Konig 18:02, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
Added two missing categories and updated some numbers. Keep in mind you can't get 60 AP from the Super Adventure Box dailies until next year. Tyndel (talk) 21:33, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

List of all hidden achievements that aren't "Current Events"[edit]

Is there a list of all hidden achievements in the game, that aren't in the Current Events category? --118.101.167.156 16:32, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

As far as I can see, we have not marked the achievements based on if they're hidden or not, so we won't be able to generate a list of them atm. G R E E N E R 22:01, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

Feedback 2017/05/04[edit]

Perhaps, there should be mention of the 15,000 Achievement Point cap (and how to determine if one has hit the cap) in this article. (I assume there is mention of said cap in the Dailies article [if not, there should be]). --Inculpatus cedo (talk) 08:35, 4 May 2017 (UTC)

There's a "15,000 total" note beside the daily category at the top of the table. Achievement#Categories. Should be sufficient imo. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 18:43, 4 May 2017 (UTC)
Oh, I did not notice that. Still, it seems to indicate that the cap is on Daily APs only, which may be confusing. I only bring this up because it is an oft-posted question on the forums, and might be nice to link to. Whatever you feel is best. Thanks. Inculpatus cedo (talk) 18:55, 4 May 2017 (UTC)

Count, AP and MP totals check[edit]

Every now and then I look on this page and try to correct wrong numbers about the achievement counts, AP and mastery point totals in each category. While having these numbers pulled automatically from the respective pages would be useful, it still wouldn't solve some of the trickier categories, like Daily, and perhaps more importantly it wouldn't help when those pages are wrong to begin with. I don't know enough about wiki automation to do it myself (besides it's really not that big a deal), but having to look if those individual pages are correct would remain.

However, what is helpful is looking at the API to track the missed newly added or moved achievements and so on. And as browsing gw2efficiency for this quickly becomes rather tedious, I made a small script that looks at the API and calculates the totals for each category to compare with the wiki table on this page: here.

I don't think it needs to be incorporated anywhere, but perhaps it could be helpful for someone else as well so I thought "why keep it for myself", and that this might be the place to link to it. At the moment the pages seem to be in sync, but the changes to this page aren't that uncommon and I'm sure it will have to be updated again in the future. Some things to note:

  • World vs World includes 27 more achievements worth 0 AP for tournament placements. As you could never obtain them all and they're very well hidden, I don't see the point of listing them all in the table or total, so the achievement count is different.
  • A Very Merry Wintersday categories are a mess. Might need to look at them thoroughly soon.
  • Some historical activity repeatable achievements worth 0 AP are moved elsewhere (Frequent Sprinter) or removed (Aspect Arena Regular). I might update them too.
  • SAB is currently apparently missing from the API.

User Noxx Sig.png 15:44, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

SAB isn't totally missing - just it's group assignment. The categories (22, 45, 46) are there. MadMaxx (talk) 16:17, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
I created a Python script for populating the achievement template for a category from the API. It is currently in Talk:Daybreak_(achievements) because I used it to fill that page but it should be usable for all new achievement categories. --Andreasg.gw2 (talk) 18:55, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
There's also GW2W Easy Mode with the achievement type selected. Although I'll be honest I haven't extensively vetted my achievement section. I should probably compare my things with yours. -Darqam

Achievement order[edit]

What is the stance on ordering the achievements on the wiki? I would like to order achievements alphabetically (like it would be ingame on the hero pannel when sorting "Alphabetical") on each page e.g. Tradesman the order would be Agent of Entorpy, Armorsmith, Artificer... I can see how that may not be appreciated since Grandmaster Armorsmith would be later on in the list and not grouped with Armorsmith as it is now the case. Thoughts? —Kvothe (talk) 18:20, 29 May 2019 (UTC)

I think it should match the default in-game order. Each player can do their own sorting that is not default, but the wiki should reflect the default settings. 24.8.109.201 18:30, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
What is the default order? Can you give me an example how to optain that? There is Tier/Total Completion and Alphabetical. Tier and Total depend on your progress (which are alphabetical for same progress). My original question was more in the direction of: Does the wiki add new achievements at the bottom of the list and just be done? —Kvothe (talk) 20:29, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
Well, default order should be what you get if you have either no progress at all or all achievements completed. And I'm pretty sure it's the same order you get when you sort by alphabetical ingame. Usually that is meta achievements at the top, rest alphabetical. They do have a way to "pin" other achievements to the top indicated by a MoveToTop flag on the API, but it's rarely used.
So much for the ingame order. As for the wiki order: I believe in theory it's supposed to follow the order ingame, but often people just add new stuff at the bottom. Then there's some special cases like all the Chasing Tales achievement in All or Nothing. There's just so many of them all over the place that I don't think it would make sense to sort them alphabetically into the 'regular' map achievements. There's a reason all of them are initially hidden. And to be honest, the Skyscale Collections in War Eternal should probably get the same treatment.
I'd say when in doubt go alphabetically unless you've got a good reason to do something different. --Alcahata (talk) 22:31, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for your input. I split off the Skyscale Collection like Chasing Tales. Started reordering, but left for example Master of Overkill at the top of the Weapon Master list, because its the only other achievement. The Silverwastes have a nice edge case with annihilator, be-all and end-all, demolisher, etc. being at the bottom of the list ingame. —Kvothe (talk) 02:18, 30 May 2019 (UTC)

API script for formatting achievement category[edit]

I don't want to copy my Python script here. It can be found on Talk:Daybreak (achievements). It is updated for the recent changes for objectives and collections. Unfortunately, tier rewards are not listed in the API. Andreasg.gw2 (talk) 19:58, 29 January 2020 (UTC)

Achievement filters in-game[edit]

Just noticed anet has added Mastery Point filter for End of Dragons. Dbaggins (talk) 05:18, 18 March 2022 (UTC)

Achievement filter table[edit]

Can someone add a filter to hide all 0 point achievements for this page? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Djz3r08 (talk) at 20:39, 12 October 2022‎ (UTC).

I assume that the original post refers to the in-game filter options and while your comment refers to the wiki table filter options. Nevertheless, this sounds like a good idea, we could add 0/X aps, annual/permanent/historical, mastery point, release and achievement group filters. First tests look quite promising, maybe we could also bypass the current template namespace restriction as it affects only one page. --Tolkyria (talk) 08:53, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
Let me know what should be put/changed on Achievement categories table and I can do it in the evening. —Kvothe (talk) 09:33, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
Please copy the <includeonly>...</includeonly> part from:
  • User:Tolkyria/Sandbox3 --> Template:Achievement categories table header
  • User:Tolkyria/Sandbox4 --> Template:Achievement categories table result format
The main query template Template:Achievement categories table stays the same. Maybe you can play around with the filters a bit to check if everything behaves as intended. --Tolkyria (talk) 11:32, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
Did not find any issues. Made the changes accordingly. Thanks Tolkyria! —Kvothe (talk) 23:38, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
